I HATE Packing!

I was able to pack everything last night except for the things I'll use in the morning to get ready. It went fairly easy & was basically painless. I'm even 10 lbs. below the 50 lb. weight limit.  I didn't feel like I forgot anything & I even did a CVS run this morning before work to pick up a few things I needed. I felt good about it all. American Airlines sent me an email this morning & I was able to go ahead & check in. All I have to do tomorrow is check my 40 lb. bag & I'm good to go. Or so I thought!! While I was on the website I discovered that the 62" maximum baggage size could actually be a problem. I saw something about this last night but my suitcase is only 30" tall. No problemo! Not so fast my friend! When AA says 62" they want you adding together the measurements of the length, width & height. That could be a problem. See, after our cruise we decided that we didn't have the most conducive to cruising luggage that's available so we bought this. It's big. "A 150 lb. person could fit in there" says Dean. This is the first time it will be used. I was very excited about it because of the super duper spinner wheels. They make it incredibly easy to handle! Dean thinks it's smaller than 62" but "it's going to be close". What's that they say about close?? Only in horseshoes....That brings me to my carry on. Since I was able to put so much stuff in the big suitcase, I packed a small carry on. I'm having second thoughts about that. What if I buy stuff. OK, who am I kidding? When I buy stuff, what if it exceeds the 50 lb. weight limit?? I don't want to pay them even more to check the bag. I could use that money for a pair of shoes or something. Dean wants to know what I plan on buying that weighs 10 lbs. I have no idea but I need to be prepared. Not to mention, my hair dryer, flat iron, hair spray & volumizer has to go in the big suitcase thanks to the Habeebs & 911. Besides, what if the luggage check person has their foot on the scale or something? Better to be prepared. So when I get home I'll be repacking the carry on & measuring the big suitcase.
Tonight Dean & I are going to dinner with what we affectionately call "The 3900 Krewe". All of our addresses start with 39. Anyway, Me, Dean, Sheri, Cliff, Jackie, Dennis, Suzy & Matt are all going to Flemings. It's been awhile since we've been. I'm looking forward to it.

At this time tomorrow I'll be in sunny San Diego, California!! I'll try to blog while I'm gone.

Free Stuff!!

WOO HOOOO!!! I've won a giveaway!! Exciting right? I thought so. I entered Tee's giveaway at Brown Eyed Belle.  I don't normally win things. At least not in my adult life. Back in the day, I did win New Kids On The Block tickets on more than one occasion. Of course, that required me to stay in my room listening to the radio for entire weekends at a time only going to the bathroom & eating during commercials!! Fun times! I love to get mail & what's better than mail?? PACKAGES!! Sooo excited to know that I'll have  one waiting when I get home from San Diego! Tee is from Louisiana too,  has a family of boys that play baseball & she has a GORGEOUS home. Y'all know how much I like to look at houses & see how they're decorated! Hers is fabulous!! Thanks again Tee!

In less than 24 hours Lydia & I will be in San Diego!! How's the packing going you ask? Um, yeh, it's not. Haven't even gotten my suitcase out. We're going out to dinner with friends tomorrow night so I guess I'm going to have to get with it when I get home today. I HATE HATE HATE to pack. I always pack too much & I always feel like I'm forgetting something. I usually make a list which helps with the forgetting, but I haven't even done that. Possibly because I still don't know what to pack so I don't know what to put on a list! Then there's the dilemma of what to put in my carry on in case they lose my luggage. This has never happened but there is a first time for everything.  There's no wood in my office to knock on so everyone cross your fingers!!

Here's your latest McDreamy update. He was running the lakes & at the Oak Villa parks Tuesday night. Yep, I figured that out after the fact as well. I haven't confirmed what he was doing there but I know for a fact he was there. Like I said, no problem finding out where he's been, just where he's going. Ashley Judd is also in the movie with him but NOBODY has seen her. I thought that was kind of weird.

Every morning I listen to Kidd Kraddick on the radio. He's on from 6-10am & I listen just about the whole time. The cast of the show loves Chick fil A. They were talking about the greatness of it this morning & how no matter what time of the day it is the drive thru line is out in the road. How true this is! I went to Target the other day & there's a Chick fil A out front & the drive thru line wrapped around the building & was out in the street (Seigen Ln.). In Baton Rouge if you're just sitting on Seigen Ln. you're taking your life in your hands but I digress. All of the Chick fil A talk was making me hungry. While I was thinking about that Wendy emailed me. She works with me but in a different dept. Her email said "CHICK-FIL-A. Thanks a lot Kidd, now I want that for lunch." HAHAHA!! She was reading my mind so did Chick fil A for lunch. It was greatness as usual!!! A few weeks ago when I went for my free spicy chicken sandwich there was a survey link on my website. If you completed the survey within 2 days they gave you a code for a free sandwich. I'm all over that. So, today lunch was free! Well, I had to pay for the cole slaw & Dr. Pepper. It was a great day for free stuff!

Down In The Count!

In 4 days Lydia & I will be in San Diego. Dean told me that he checked out the weather & the forecast says it will be in the 60's the entire time we're there. Great! Sort of. I'm not complaining about the weather. It will be really nice to get away from the hellish heat we're having here. HOWEVER, I don't know how to pack for that kind of weather. Dean said it will be perfect & he doesn't understand the problem. APPARENTLY, he's forgotten that we live in Louisiana. We don't have perfect weather EVER. How should I know how to pack for it when I don't even know how to dress for it?? It's either cold, freakishly cold or freakishly hot with more humidity than should be allowed. I guess I'll just pack a bunch of stuff that I can layer. I just don't want to exceed the weight limit for luggage & be forced to pay more than I'm already paying to check a bag. With all the new fees, gone are the days of bringing 32 tops on a trip! In my defense it was a trip to Omaha for the College World Series & we didn't know if we'd be there 3 days or 10. Of course being the optimist that I was back then (YES Vicki, we really were that good!!) I was packing for 10 days. It's a good thing because LSU was there the entire time & won the National Championship & I wore 31 tops!!

Update on the McDreamy front. I still haven't seen him. I've got more conflicting information as to where he's living while he's in town. My sources tell me that he either bikes or runs the LSU lakes everyday. No, I haven't been out there. Remember hellish heat? Too much humidity? Yeh, I'm not willing to go out there without a guarantee that I'll see him. Not to mention if I were to see him & get lucky enough to take a picture with him, I'd look horrendous because of the aforementioned heat. Seriously, yesterday I started sweating walking from my door to my truck at 7:00 am. Which is all of about 15 steps! Anyway, after checking out some tweets & doing some stalking detective work, I discovered an hour after that he had lunch at Zoe's Kitchen today. Now, if I could only figure out where he's going before he gets there we'd be in business.

The Countdown Begins.....

I'm glad we didn't have a lot of plans this weekend because we ended up really busy Saturday. I had my hair cut & highlighted Saturday morning & then I stopped at my parents to visit & have lunch. We had Sonic. It was soooooo goood! I love Sonic but there's not one close to my house so it was a lovely treat! I went home & Dean's cousins Cassie, Cody, Emma, Leslie, Cory & Sam were there swimming. Isn't Sam cute?

Her first birthday was Friday. Here she is with her mama, Leslie, opening her gift. I just realized I didn't get a picture of the gift. It was a cute little swimsuit.

Emma's 2nd birthday was Monday. Here she is with her mama, Cassie, opening her gift. It was a cute little pink dress/swimsuit coverup.

This was the best we could get of Emma with her big brother Cody. It's still cute!

After they left I got in the pool. I wasn't in long when my neighbor stuck her head over the fence (we do a lot of communicating this way!) to see if I wanted to join her & Suzy (another neighbor) for a pedicure. Of course I'd just dunked my head under water so I had soaking wet hair. Oh well, I put on a hat. So, in the last two weeks, I've gone to Hooters for lunch with NO makeup on. We did that after the garage sale a few weeks ago. Everyone was starving & didn't feel like taking time to "get dressed". Anyway, so I did that & I went to the nail salon with a wet head. I can't figure out if I'm just getting too old to care or I'm just that lazy. The pedicure was very relaxing. We were also very excited to see it storm while we were there. We haven't had a drop of rain in a week & the pool water is ridiculously hot! The rain cooled it off a bit.

Once the pedicures were done we all went home to get dressed because we were going to neighbor Suzy's for a dinner party. When I left for my hair appt. I thought the dinner party may be at my house because Suzy's AC went out & she didn't know when the repairman would make it there. It all worked out though. The AC was fixed, dinner was delicious & the company was delightful.

Today has been a very relaxing day. I went to Ross. I haven't been there in awhile. I always forget about it so I decided to go check things out. I thought about while reading blogs. One of the ladies found some cute stuff there. Dean was cutting grass so off I went. I found a shirt for $5. It's nothing special, just like a pull over type thing but hey it was $5. I can always use an off white top. Then I found this.

I LOVE it! The best part? It was $5!!! I haven't decided where I'll put him but it will be somewhere out by the pool.

My countdown has started. In 6 days, I'll be in SAN DIEGO!!!! I can't wait. Lydia & I leave Saturday morning!! She's not nearly as excited as I am being that she has to leave little Logan. I'm sure she'll manage to have a little fun!

Hangin' Tough

After work today I went & had my nails done. It was time for a new set & it took forever. I'm not sure why but i was there almost 2 hours! The people are really nice so it was ok. I saw the little lady that sits in front of me at Mass every week. She was "working" there. I say "working" because she told me she had no idea what she was doing but the guys asked her to come help out because someone called in sick. She's really funny!

Mike, the guy that did my nails, is a joke teller. To me the funniest joke is that this Vietnamese guy that barely speaks english goes by Mike!!! He told jokes, I laughed. It was much better than sitting there listening to them speak to each other in their language. Then a cute little Drew Barrymore look alike came in & talked my ear off. She'll be 20 July 5th, she works at Victoria Secrets & it's her first job. FYI - the girls at Victoria Secrets don't work on commission. Shocking, since they attack you multiple times while you're in the store! If anyone's looking for a second job or maybe just a first part-time one, I recommend Victoria Secrets based on Carrie's info. She gets a 30% discount & every time they come out with a new bra she gets a free one so she can give an "honest testimonial".  Carrie also lives in my subdivision & is meeting her boyfriends parents & grandparents for the first time tomorrow. She's quite nervous. Carrie's mom was at home sleeping. She had a procedure for the veins in her legs. I told you Carrie talked my ear off!

When I finally got home we veered from our normal Friday routine of going to dinner. We ate left overs & spent the evening in the pool. I use the term pool loosely. As hot as it is, it almost felt like a hot tub. It was definitely hotter than the hot tub on our cruise in January. We had these too.

I love Pina Coladas!!!

I have friends that are in New York this week. They've been texting & emailing all week making me jealous! Tonight they were at the New Kids On The Block concert at Radio City Music Hall. So cool. Well, being the good friends that they are they called me when little Joey Joe was singing Please Don't Go Girl & at the end when they sang Hangin' Tough. It was delightful. Much to Dean's chagrin, I put it on speaker phone & was able to hear & sing along. Oh how I wish I was there with them. Maybe next time.

I'm super excited because one week from tomorrow I'll on a plane to San Diego!! So so so excited!

Have a great weekend!

I'm Back

And alive. Thankfully. I've been under the weather the last couple of days. So much so I didn't make it to work. I spent a lot of time laying on the sofa & sadly, my DVR is almost cleared out. Needless to say there hasn't been anything blog worthy going on.

I've written about my co-worker that I refer to as Bob Marley before. Well, as I sit here I'm listening to a conversation he's having about aliens. OK fine, no biggie. Except YES this is a biggie. To me anyway. He's telling people aliens exist. He's saying it like he really, truly believes it. Fine, whatever. It's a free country, believe what you want. It doesn't end there though. He's now saying that "with the direction the world is going, they'll be coming down shortly". WTH???? Someone asked why? (That someone doesn't buy anything he's saying but he's egging Bob on). Bob replies "because they're our parents". Again, WTH?????????

Another Weekend Comes to a Close

Another weekend has come & gone. Just about anyway. Today has been a pretty lazy day for us. We got up early & went to 7:00 Mass. Afterwards, we did our grocery shopping for the week & went to Lowe's. I caught up on some stuff I had on the DVR (Bethenny's Getting Married). It was the first episode & I think I'm going to like it a lot. Bethenny is from Real Housewives of NY. She's always been my favorite. We've also watched a lot of the college baseball Super Regionals today too. I also went to visit my friend Veronica this afternoon. One of her twins, Abigail, is our Godchild.

Yesterday, Lydia brought Logan & her nephew Jordan over to swim. My mom came too.  Logan was ready to go when they got here.

I swear he laughed & smiled ALL DAY except when I had the camera in his face!!! He loves the water. Here he is with Jordan (his Godfather).

Yes, he's about to take a big bite! This is a recurring theme at our house! For whatever reason, every baby/toddler that has been swimming chews/eats the noodles. They all have little pieces bit out of them.

Logan was hungry & the Cheez It's weren't cutting it. Lunch was a baby tv dinner. I can't believe he's not eating baby food anymore. Time flies.

He LOVES it!!! The adults all had Canes & Logan had his fair share of fries & toast too.
I think his expression is so funny!

I hope the next two weeks go by fast. Lydia & I are leaving for San Diego on the 26th & I'm so ready! It'll be great to get away from this heat for a few days!!

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

It's been awhile since I've done this but I just couldn't resist. I bought shoes!!!! Not just one pair....not two....yep THREE pair! I figured out earlier in the week that I could really use a pair of flip flops for yard work. You know, something that I could hose off. There was a Shoe Station coupon in the paper. Never, ever buy shoes at Shoe Station without a coupon. They're ALWAYS in the paper. So, I got these.

I'm proud to say this is my FIRST pair of Crocs. Yep, it's true. I've resisted the Croc trend. I just couldn't ever see myself wearing plastic shoes. However, they seem pretty comfy & they can be hosed off. There were some cute colors but I just stuck with black so they'll go with everything. I'm kinda funny about stuff matching. I also "need" a pair of black casual flip flops. I have a cute pair that I really like but they're old & I've worn the sole slick to the point of almost killing myself. OK, so I wasn't really close to killing myself but I was close to breaking something & it scared the neighbors dog. When I saw these Yellow Box I swooned!

This isn't a good picture. They're black with silver sparklies! LOVE THEM! They look really cute on with all that shimmer. My pink toe polish really shows up good with them.  I wore them tonight, that's how I know. So, I thought my shoe shopping was done. I was on my way to pay & then I spotted these. Albeit on a ladies feet but it was like they were calling my name. They were sooooo cute!!! I looked & the only pair I saw were the ones on the ladies feet. I started to panic! It brought back memories of that time when my friends & I were in Maison Blanche shopping for our weekly "going out outfit" back in the day & I saw a shirt I wanted. Only problem, a lady was carrying it around. I made Ian (my friend, who at the time was dating my other friend, who are now married) follow her around in case she decided against it & set it down. It paid off, she set it down, Ian picked it up & I bought it. I still remember exactly what it looked like. I bet Ian does too. I'll have to ask him. Back to the shoes. I started to panic but then I spotted them on the shelf. How fabulous are these???

I think they're DIVINE!!! Dean? Not so much. He walked in & saw the bag on the table & said "Uh oh, I see 2 boxes". Then he remembered that Crocs don't come in boxes! When I told him how hard I tried to pass these up, he laughed. His response when he saw them?? "You couldn't pass THOSE up??"  Seriously??? I LOVE THEM!!! They're Volatile so they're comfy too.

I didn't buy anything else. I looked for a dress to wear to my friend Katie's wedding in July but I didn't find anything. I tried on some but nothing was oh so great.

I'm so glad the weekend is here!!!

It's Almost Over

I'm so happy that tomorrow is Friday. I'm only working until 12:30 so that's a great thing. I have a few errands to run but other than that I don't have plans. I may do a little shopping. It should be lovely.

Our niece & nephew are in town from Houston. They came swimming Tuesday. I managed to get an action shot of Camille & Dean!

I was surprised at how much they've grown & changed since I saw them last.

Drew looks so old!

Camille's birthday was May 28th. I tried to get a good picture of her but this is the best we could do!! I didn't take a picture of her gift but I got her a cute swimsuit & beach towel with her name monogrammed on it. Dean's Godchild & cousin, Lexie came too.

Isn't she so pretty?? She's growing up. I can remember when she was a little girl & it doesn't seem that long ago.

On the McDreamy front, I found out he was having dinner at Sullivan's again last night. He's also been spotted at Ninfa's. I've heard a rumor as to where he's living while he's here but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

I'm very excited about the Housewives of NY reunion show tonight. These shows are always wild. At some point everyone ends up yelling at everyone else. The NY ladies yell at each other so much during the season I can't imagine what this is going to be like. What's even better? It's coming on at 8:00 so I can watch it live without it interfering with my bedtime. That means I'll be able to discuss with Allison & Wendy tomorrow. YAY!!!

Tuesday....

I've mentioned that Patrick Dempsey is in town. I haven't seen him yet. My neighbor has some friends that did see him in the parking lot at Sullivan's. They took a picture with him & put it on Facebook. It's a great picture.  It brings me to this question, why why why are the 16 yr. olds the ones that actually run into him & get a picture? He's 44 years old. He's old enough to be their dad & he may even be older than their dads! Shouldn't they just stick with Taylor Lautner? He's in town too. I've liked McDreamy since he was in Can't Buy Me Love in 1987! I can see this is going to be a Jessica Simpson ordeal all over again. She was at Albertson's, she was at Walmart, she was at WalkOns, she was at Shucks. Yet the only time I saw her was when I stood out in the cold the day before Thanksgiving to watch her film a scene for The Dukes of Hazzard & when I saw her pulling into the driveway of the house she was staying in. Well, actually, I didn't even see her then because the body guard was driving & the house had a garage. Don't ask how I knew where she was living or what I was doing near the house when she pulled in. (Thanks US Weekly). I have another question for the 16 yr. olds. What are they doing eating at Sullivan's??? I didn't eat there for the first time until I was like 26 & that was for my birthday. For those of you that have inquired about pictures when I track down McDreamy, there's no need to worry.  I will get some!

Here are some pictures of the cute little one from Sunday.

He always goes straight for the cabinets. He loves to bang them. We also discovered yesterday that Logan has a better tan than me. Imagine that.

If anyone was wondering how hot it's been, here you go.

This picture looks like this because I walked out of the cool air conditioned house with my camera & immediately the lens fogged up & I didn't know it & took the picture.  I think it's still a cute picture!

All of the noodles we have have pieces bit out of them. It's the strangest thing but every kid that comes swimming chews on a noodle. SEVERAL times I had to dig pieces of noodle out of Logan's mouth. FYI - his teeth are sharp!!

Anybody watch Real Housewives of New Jersey this week? Danielle is CRAZY NUTS!!!

What Was That About Karma??

LSU lost. They're done. They didn't just lose Saturday night, they lost Sunday too. They had their chances both games. It just wasn't meant to be I guess. At least this didn't cost us any additional money. Today they lost to Irvine. Yep, the Tigers lost to a bunch of Anteaters. That's one of the great things about baseball, anyone can beat anyone else any given day.

Aside from the 2 losses we had a great weekend. Last night we went to friends to watch the game & today Lydia, Logan & my mom came over. We spent the afternoon in the pool. The water has cooled down some because we had almost 6 inches of rain this week. It was 88 degrees today which is perfect! When Logan wasn't eating I think he really enjoyed the pool. He ate those puff things, then those puff cheetos, then we figured out that maybe he'd like some lunch so he had some turkey, rice & gravy, green beans & carrots. He ate all this in the pool. I guess you could say we had a little picnic. Not a conventional one but picnic nonetheless. After he finished that he ate more puffs & cheetos. After that he caught sight of the container that his rice & gravy was in & he wanted more. I guess you can tell he's got some coonass blood, he loves that gravy!!! There wasn't any left so into the house we went & he had a piece of toast.  I guess we should've given him the bread sooner so he can learn to sop but I didn't think about it. Next time.

I took pictures but they're still on my camera. I'll post some later.

That's all for now.

Karma's a B!

GEAUX TIGERS!!!! What a game they played last night! It was a little too stressful for me but finally in the bottom of the 11th with 2 outs & 2 strikes they won! What's that mean?? According to Irvine's Coach, Gillepsie, "it was bad karma". Yeh, you know what they say about Karma.  It also means we play UCLA tonight at 8:00. It's going to be a late night. We watched yesterday next door at Cliff & Sheri's & tonight we'll be down the street at Jackie & Dennis'.

After the game we set up for the garage sale. Sheri was having one & invited us to put stuff in it. After all the rain yesterday & the forecast of more today, I was having second thoughts. The thought of getting up at 5:30 surely didn't help matters. I sucked it up & I'm glad I did. I made $170 & got rid of some stuff. Thanks Janice! She showed up & started pointing at stuff saying "I'm getting that"! She bought a couple of watches & when my friend told her that they all work, they just need batteries her response was "OH I don't need batteries, I just wear them"!! Soooo funny!! She went to get the lady she works for because she didn't bring enough money with her. When we helped load her car we also realized that she needed the ladies car because hers was full! Apparently, we weren't her first garage sale of the day! There was a brief moment when I felt a little guilty that I may be contributing to a hoarder but what can you do?

This is Dean on pool duty.

We thought it would be a good idea to have someone in charge of making sure nobody drowned. There was only one close call. Eddie was very interested in the pool & he didn't listen very well. When his mom wasn't trying a purple wig on him, he managed to break an exercise bike. We were happy to see Eddie go. These two had to go inside because they couldn't control themselves & were laughing at how bad he was.

Speaking of karma, I'll remind them of this one day when they have a bad little boy!!!

Not to change the subject but I found out that McDreamy is in town & has been spotted at Whole Foods & Sullivan's! He's here, along with Ashley Judd, filming a movie. I've got people working on finding out where he's staying.  Oh how I would love to take a picture with him.

We're off to watch the game. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

The Goofball Factor

Chick fil A is GREATNESS!!! I love the regular chicken sandwich with it's 2 little pickles, fresh bun & little bag that keeps everything warm. I love the coleslaw. I love the styrofoam cup. There really isn't anything not to love about it. I keep thinking if they'd get their ice from Sonic it would be just about the most perfect little place in the world. Of course when I got an email saying that they were coming out with a SPICY chicken sandwich I pretty much swooned! I never even thought of it but why not? If McDonalds can have spicy chicken why can't the greatest chicken place in the world?? I'm wondering what took them so long. The email allowed me to sign up to receive a free sandwich. I'm ALL over that! Obviously, the powers that be at Chick fil A learned a little something from the stupidity of Oprah. I mean really, what made Oprah think she could just tell everyone to go get free chicken & that wouldn't cause a problem?? I digress. So, the powers that be had you sign up for a particular day & time to get your sandwich. Genius, I say! I signed up for today between 11-2. I had actually completely forgotten about it until Kidd & Kellie were talking about it on Kidd Kraddick the other day. Have no fear, Chick fil A also sent a reminder email. Soooo, what happens today??? It's raining! Not just a little bit, a WHOLE LOT! Like, it hasn't stopped since 6:30 this morning. Do you think rain was going to stop me from getting my chicken??? NOPE! I might have called Dean to see if he was in the area & would go get it for me. He's off today. He might have not answered & sent me a text saying that he was in the movie. Off I went. OHHH, it was soooo worth it! It was divine!! Not just a little spicy either. Nose running spicy!! If you live in the south you know that's a good thing!

Today is the first day of the 2010 NCAA Baseball Regionals. You might remember here when I talked about how LSU wouldn't make it to Omaha. Now, I'm not so sure. This team just continues to surprise me. They play their first regional game tonight in Los Angeles against UC Irvine. With all the rain that we've had today & earlier in the week, I'm really glad they're not playing at home. It would've been a weekend of sitting in the rain & delays. HOWEVER, I will be a little careful what I wish for from now on. I LOVE L.A.  Granted I've only been once (when LSU played at Long Beach) but there was nothing that I didn't like. Kinda like Chick fil A. I loved that they sold wine at the ballgames. I didn't care about the traffic. For those of you that have heard that it isn't as bad as traffic in Baton Rouge, that's a lie! Rush hour is later but there are about a million more lanes on the interstate it's like driving to Livingston Parish everyday. Anyway, that's where the tigers are & I'm bummed that I'm not there. I always said that LSU wouldn't go back to California without me. I was whining to Dean earlier that we weren't there & his response was "you don't even want to go to the game, you just want to see stars". Well, there's that BUT, people the weather is like 75 degrees there!! It doesn't get that cool here at night!! I'd love to watch a game in that weather.

When I was coming back from lunch I was listening to a local sports talk show on the  radio. One of our TV sportscasters was calling in from L.A. He was talking about how different the stadium is from ours. It only holds like 3000 people, there's not much of a press box to speak of (thank goodness the games are on TV. I don't know if I could listen to Jim (LSU's radio announcer extraordinaire) complain about it all weekend) & there's a FARMERS MARKETS over the outfield fence!!! WTH??? That's just a little odd.

Speaking of odd, people all over the country think Louisiana people are stupid & that we ride around in pirogues & have alligators running across the road (more on that in a minute). Well, people here think Californians are weird. Here lies the "goofball factor". Our sports guy said that he hopes the team doesn't get "caught up in the goofball factor" & take things for granted & forget the real reason they're there, to play ball. I hope so too. Just to be clear, I LOVE CALIFORNIA & the people that we met were great.  I don't think I'll get any argument that Louisiana & California are two entirely different worlds. Both great in their own way but different.

So back to the alligator. Dean's parents live in Bayou Pigeon, LA. There's a levee on one side of the road & a bayou behind their house. The first time Dean brought me to "Pigeon" a 4 ft. long alligator was crossing the road in front of us! No lie. The first thing that came to mind was "OMG, it does really happen".

Hopefully, We Won't Have Anymore Visitors.

From here on out the snake that was here yesterday will be referred to as "the visitor". In a scary turn of events, it appears that a member of "the visitors" family was looking for him this morning. My next door neighbor walked out his back door to go for his morning jog & found a 27" replica of "the visitor". He had an unfortunate (for him) incident with Cliff's shovel.  On a happier note & I when I say happier I mean "not nearly as scary as we first thought but still not good at all", we don't think "the visitor" is a water moccasin. After doing lots of research (Dean, not me), he found this

The first pic is a Mississippi Green Water Snake. The second pic is our visitor. They look a lot alike. It says he can be 16-50 inches long. Good thing Dean killed him because as freaked out as I was over the 36 inch one, 50 would drive me to drink, A LOT.

Apparently, these type of snakes like "permanent bodies of water, especially in open country & around open cypress lakes & marshes". Um, ok. I live in Baton Rouge, in a subdivision, in the middle of the city. I have no lake or marsh. I really hope these visitors haven't mistaken my pool for a "permanent body of water". That wouldn't be good. Here's another fun fact. They give birth to 8-34 baby snakes. Do you know what that means?? It means that there are AT LEAST 6 more somewhere out there. I'm concentrating on the the 8 & not so much the 34. I'm hoping they have some sort of sixth sense & know of the demise of their family & will leave the area immediately.

I'm linking to Outdoor Wednesday hoping that someone can positively I.D. "the visitor".
