Nap anyone??

I'm EXHAUSTED! It's 8:30 & I need a nap. I had big plans for the weekend. Friday afternoon I went to Yogalates. WOW! It was hard. Nobody should have to work that hard on a Friday. I'm also leery about today's class. There was mention of splits on Friday. The last time I did a split I think I was in 7th grade & I don't even know if I did it correctly then. After Yogalates it was home to shower & get ready to go to the LSU game. They won again which is good but then again they were playing Holy Cross who isn't known for their athletics & these were the first ballgames they played this year.

Saturday's plans were to lay out by the pool so that I could get a little sun as to not frighten anyone when I'm wearing shorts. There were a couple of problems with this. The first being that we needed to go to Sam's & Lowe's. Dean was willing to go by himself but those are two of my favorite stores!! It was really cloudy when we got up so it wouldn't do me any good to stay home & lay out. Off we went. I got a cute top & a swimsuit cover up. I forgot to take pictures. At Lowe's I picked out some plants for pots that I have on the patio. I made a conscious effort to buy things that are drought tolerant because I tend to forget to water them. I wanted to get some hanging plants but I need to do some research because that's one thing that I CANNOT keep alive. I don't know what the problem is but nothing lives that I hang.

Once we got home with all of our stuff it was time to work in the yard. By then the sun was out. I pruned some things & cut back some other things while looking longingly at my chaise lounge by the pool. Once everything was cut back I planted my new flowers. Then it was lunch time & then time to shower & get ready. Book Club was Saturday night & I was going to Mass before that. I needed to make a quick Hob Lob run so I did that before Mass. After Mass I had to go pick up Chicken Salad to bring to Book Club. I also had to stop at Racetrack for a Dr. Pepper ICEE!!! A friend told me about these things a couple of weeks ago. SOOOOO GOOD!!! What makes it even better is it was free. There I was standing in line & when it was my turn the cashier said "Is that all?" I said yes, she said "You can have it." I said "What??" she said "Next in line please". Um ok, thanks! I mean it was only $1.00 but I was happy.

If you've been reading awhile you know we refer to our book club as "The Worst Book Club Ever". We rarely read the same books & we rarely talk about books. This time we talked a little about a few books & several of the girls are/have read some of the same books. Most of us that were there have a Nook or Kindle so we talked about those a lot too. As usual we had great food. I ate too much but I'd prepared & hadn't eaten much beforehand. Pretty much everyone that was there is on some sort of diet. Once we started talking about that is when things got a little crazy & we got sidetracked. Our very, very funny friend Allison ended up flat on her back on the floor with me giving her instructions on how to do some Yogalates moves. HILARIOUS!!! It was 11:00 before I got home.

Then came Sunday. I went & picked up my nephew, Logan. We went to Lowe's. Yes, two days in a row. When I planted my flowers I determined that I'd bought more plants than I had pots. This is what I got.

Then I saw this.

It's a bird bath. I love it. I have the perfect spot for it. Once I dig up some iris's. I've been looking for one. I don't care for birds but I'm hoping if they have their own little spot they'll stay away from my patio. I asked Logan what he thought his Nonk (Dean) was going to think about me spending more money. He threw his head back & cackled. It was hilarious!! I wish I would've gotten a picture.

Once we finished at Lowe's we went to see Mike the Tiger. For those that don't know, he's LSU's mascot. I'm going to do a separate post about that because several people have asked me about it. Mike was sleeping but he was in a good spot where we could see him. I swear all that tiger does is sleep. I've been out there several times & I've NEVER seen him roaming about. Then it was off to McDonalds for lunch.
 Logan likes ketchup.
I thought this one was so funny. It's like he's thinking "Why are you taking pictures of me eating lunch??"
Logan likes to do things himself. He's a bit strong willed. HA! He wanted my drink. Logan has a habit of just dropping things when he's done. I had my hand on the cup but he was having none of it & removed my hand. You can see I was ready to grab it if he let go. He enjoyed the Dr. Pepper. Speaking of, I ordered a small drink because I didn't want to drink a lot of DP. I've been doing very well & only drinking one a week. I had one Saturday plus the Icee. Apparently, McDonalds doesn't have small drinks anymore except for Happy Meals. Oh Well. It's not going to kill me.

After lunch we went to my house & got Dean & went to the baseball game. Our seats are on the top row & there's an area behind our seats where you can stand up. Logan liked that spot because he could check out what was going on down below.
 He was so funny.
He sat & watched the game for a minute.
He cheered!
He sat with Nonk long enough to get a picture.
And he played with Dean's dad. He sacked out in the car on the way home. We had a great time with him. I can't believe how fast the time is going. He'll be 2 in May!

I brought him home & went to my parents for a little bit. When I got home I planted the last of my flowers in my new pot & I watered everything & I finally sat down on the patio & read for a little while. Next weekend is  3 day weekend because of Mardi Gras. I can't wait!!!

6 Degrees of Separation

So last night Dean asked me if I saw that Charlie Sheen had sent his private jet to Arizona to pick up Brian Wilson & bring him to his house? NOOOOO, I hadn't seen this. Seems that I've introduced Dean to the greatness that is TMZ for all things celebrity related & of course they had a story about it. You can see it here.

I know you're wondering why I would care about this & a lot of you are probably asking who the heck is Brian Wilson. And no it's not that guy that was in that band a long time ago. The Monkey's I think. Anyway, it's not him. He's a baseball player. A really good one. Like, so good he's the Closer for the San Francisco Giants who happened to win the World Series last year. He's also a little strange, for a lack of a better way to say it.  Wait, who am I kidding, he's a lot strange. Back in the day (2001-2003) he pitched for LSU. That was during the time that Dean & I made a lot of road trips to the away games. One of those trips was to Tuscaloosa, AL. After one of the games several of us went out to dinner. Brian & his roommate, Aaron Hill (who also happens to play MLB for the Blue Jays) had dinner with us. I remember several things from this dinner. Brian was WEIRD!! He held his fork weird, it was like he was shoveling his food in. He ate fast & when he was finished he proclaimed "I've conquered my meal". Um yeh. Weird I tell you! He was nice though & pretty quiet. Another thing I remember about Brian was that he drove a Saturn. It was the 2 door cute little sporty one & it was black. I remember all this because I had the exact same car several years before that. I'm sure he's moved onto to something bigger, better & lots more expensive being that he's making like 7 million bucks this year.

He's a changed a lot. This was him when he was at LSU.
He looks a little different now.
This pic was from a couple of weeks ago when he was on George Lopez. The beard was jet black for awhile.

Back to Charlie. He's interested in doing another Major League movie & he flew Brian in along with some other players to watch the original movie in his private theater. SOOOOO that means someone I had dinner with was inside Charlie Sheen's house! WOW! That's really cool to me! I just thought it was awesomeness when he was on Letterman! Yes, I know Charlie is a dirt bag, alcoholic, drug addict, prostitute hirer but for some reason I really like him. I only hope that I don't read on TMZ one day that he's dead.

Weekend Wrap Up

What a fun weekend! As I told you before this was opening weekend for LSU Baseball. The weather was great! I can't remember a season opener where the weather was this good. Usually, we're all bundled up. It was great to sit there Friday night with jeans & short sleeve shirt on! LSU swept Wake Forest so that was good too.

Saturday was pretty much non-stop. I started my day with Yogalates then it was home to shower & get dressed. I went & had my nails done & while I was there I decided to have a pedi. I was sitting in the chair reading my Nook, having my feet rubbed & another guy was painting my fingernails. It was delightful! Afterwards, it was off to our Godchild Lane's, birthday party. He was 5 on Friday. I don't know where the time goes. His party was at a jump place & all the kids seem to have fun. Somehow I managed to forget my camera so no pics of the kiddos. Once the party was over I went to Mass & then home to get Dean. He'd gone to the game. We went to meet our friends Paul & Niki & their little girl Charli for dinner. We went to La Carreta. It was really good. Apparently, all that running around wore me out because I went to sleep at 8:30 Saturday night. I was in bed reading & I couldn't keep my eyes open!

Sunday I managed to get some stuff done around the house. I cleaned out the drawers in my night stand. I can't remember the last time I did that & I had a ton of crap to get rid of. YAY!! Snapfish was having a great deal over the weekend, 100 prints for $5.00 including shipping. I had a ton of pictures I've been wanting to print I just hadn't taken the time to do it so now that's done. We went to the LSU game. It was nice being outside. The game was well in hand in the 8th inning so we left & went to the movie. We saw Just Go With It. I LOVED it!!! It was really funny. I've always loved Jennifer Anniston. I definitely recommend the movie. Afterwards, we ate at California Pizza Kitchen. We've never eaten there & I'd been wanting to try it. I really, really liked it.  I love having a fun, busy weekend but I swear it feels like I just left work & now I'm back. UGH! Hopefully, the week will go by fast. What did everyone do this weekend?

Thursday Ramblings...

Soooo glad it's Thursday. Although, I really wish it was Friday. This weekend is going to be a busy one. The LSU Baseball season opener is Friday night. Saturday, I'm going to our Godchild Lane's, birthday party followed by another LSU game Sunday. This is the first time in a really long time that the weather is going to be great for opening weekend. We've been in the 70's all week & that's supposed to continue!

Yesterday, was my 7th Yogalates class. I don't know if I've mentioned but each Monday the "routine" changes. You're still working all your muscles but the exercises are a little different. For example, we always do some sort of push ups. Last week you could do regular ones or "girl" ones. This week is these things they call "cricket". While you're doing the push up you bend a knee & stick it out to the side. I don't know if that makes any sense but it's the best I can come up with. These things are HARD. Especially, being that I can barely do a regular pushup. There's different ab work than the previous weeks & the leg work is different. It definitely keeps class from getting boring. I'm also excited to report that despite my questionable eating over the weekend I did manage to lose a pound last week. Yes, I know it's nothing to go crazy over but I ate, wasn't starving & I lost SOMETHING. I'm very excited.

I FINALLY remembered to use this the other day.
I've used it 3 days & I really like it. My skin definitely feels cleaner & softer. A tube of Olay exfoliater comes with it too. It seems to be pretty gentle. It seems like my makeup is going on smoother but I could just be imagining that.

The Closet

This post has a ton of pictures. I told you awhile back that I was cleaning out another closet in my house. Well, I finished Saturday. This closet is in the Hollywood bath that connects to the bedroom that I've made our sitting room. I keep all of my gift wrapping supplies in this closet along with just random stuff. With the holidays it really got to be big mess! Here is the before.

Now, here are some pics of the sitting room once I emptied the closet.

WOW, I knew the closet was a decent size but I had no idea how much stuff was actually in there. I went through & took out anything that was Christmas related - gift bags, gift tags, etc. I have a big storage container that I keep under the bed in the guest bedroom that is for Christmas stuff. It makes it easier to have that stuff separated. This is the view when you open the closet door.
I have the changing pad there for when my nephew comes over but he's too big for it now. I'm going to check with some friends to see if anyone needs it. If not it will be donated. The box is full of styrofoam cups. I'll have to post another time about those. I've had the hanging gift wrap organizer for years. My friend Vicki gave that to me one year. It has small gift bags, tape, scissors & rolls of wrapping paper. It's very convenient because it hangs on the rod. The next picture I took standing inside the closet. When you open the closet door this is the wall to the right.
I bought the hanging thing at Walmart. In the big pocket I have gift bags & wrapping paper that isn't on rolls. The two smaller pockets are stickers that I use for envelope seals & cards. Hanging from the hooks are the larger gift bags that don't fit in the pocket. I also have a tall plastic container that holds rolls of wrapping paper under the hanging thingy. Here's a close up.
I think this thing is going to be really handy. I used to have all my gift bags in a storage container & that ended up being a mess because stuff got stacked on top of it & then when I needed a bag stuff got moved & it was just a big mess. This way I have easy access. The next picture is on the left wall of the closet when you open the door.
I bought this 3 drawer storage compartment at Walmart too. The little shelf is an old TV stand. I have plans for it so it won't be fake wood grain anymore but our weather hasn't cooperated so it's just going to stay like this for now. In the drawers I have all my ribbon. The flowered magazine holder is for the magazines that I want to keep. I have a stack that I need to go through & I didn't get to that yet. I bought the holder at Office Depot. The 2 canvas cube thingys I also bought at Walmart. I realized after I took the pictures that I hadn't cut the tags off yet. In those I have tissue paper & some extra picture frames that I'm not using at the moment.  The other containers I already had. I have one with all my craft paint & another one with other craft supplies, like pipe cleaners, wire, wire cutters, hot glue gun, etc.
Looks much better doesn't it? I'm very happy to have something else crossed off the to do list. I'm linking to Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday, Elements Interiors for Whassup Wednesday & DIY by Design for Winter Blues Wednesday.

Happy Valentine's Day & Shrinky Dinks!

I know it's not technically Valentine's Day yet but I had a whole Valentine's Day Weekend! These were waiting for me when I got home from work Friday.
I LOVE Tulips!! Every year I say that I'm going to plant some in the yard but I haven't done it yet. Maybe this will be the year.
 Aren't they pretty?
Friday night we went to the mall & did some shopping. We bought Dean some shirts. Dillards was having a great sale. $70 shirts for $12 & $15!! I picked up another Yoga tank at Penney's & Dean got another couple of shirts there. This was one of those unusual shopping trips that Dean got more stuff than I did! After the mall we had dinner at Ralph & Kacoo's. We hadn't been there in so long. This was THE place back in the day. It was sooo good! Their hushpuppies are still fab! I had a great cocktail that was part of their Valentine menu. It was champagne, OJ & pomegranate liquer.

Saturday morning I went to Yogalates. WOW it was intense! I'd never been to a class taught by this teacher. She walked around the room throughout the class checking everyone out & correcting you if you were doing something wrong. Either she saw me as a lost cause or I was doing everything correctly because she was by me several times & didn't correct anything I was doing. I choose to believe I was doing everything correct!! After class I came home & did some things around the house, took a nap & then Dean & I went to Mass. Our neighbor Amelia-Ann rode home with us. Our 8 yr. old neighbor was having a slumber party & A-A & her friend Maddie were helping. Dean cooked us filets wrapped in bacon & twice baked potatoes & I made a salad. It was soooo good! While we were eating my friend Suzy called. She's the hostess of the slumber party. She was having a shrinky dink emergency & wanted my assistance. A-A informed her that I'd done them before. We'd discussed this in car earlier. After dinner I went to help. Suzy wasn't at all interested in having this slumber party so she was pretty much in a panic. We managed to get about a zillion shrinky dinks made & I was rewarded with cookie cake with gobs of icing. Yeh, the diet isn't going so well this weekend.

Today I went to my parents to visit & I got to play with this little man.
He had a spiky do going on today! He wasn't too interested in me at first but once we mentioned the word "outside" things changed. HA! It was a really pretty day here & warm. Well, warm considering it's been ridiculously cold the last several days. I came home to another delicous meal. Dean baked fish wrapped in parchment paper with crab meat in a ver blanc sauce. Really, really good!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

TGIF!!

Wooo Hooo it's Friday!! Now if 4:30 will just hurry up & get here I'll be a happy girl. I have a confession. See this

For all my non-Louisiana friends, that is a slice of King Cake. See this

That is cream cheese & strawberry filled goodness covered in sugar. Yes, I ate it. Every second I spent in Yogalates this week probably went down the drain with that one little slice. I'm not sure what's more disturbing, that or the fact that I'm not all that concerned that I ate it. It was soooo good!!! I'm not even a huge fan of strawberry. I like it but if I buy a King Cake it's just going to be filled with the greatness that is cream cheese. The good news is I didn't buy it so I won't be tempted. Someone brought it to work.

I was sitting here emailing with my friend Wendy & I'm telling her how incredibly sleepy I am & how I could just lay my head on my desk & go to sleep. Then it hit me. THE SUGAR!!! It's the culprit, I just know it! I haven't felt like this in awhile. Well, now that I think about it, I felt like this Sunday night at the Super Bowl Party. Guess what? I ate bread pudding & a brownie. That was before I decided to try & diet/eat healthier. Interesting coinky dink?? I doubt it. So, next time I have a sugar craving I need to remember this feeling & maybe I won't succumb to it.

So, yesterday I had a dentist appt. Everything went fine & all is well. I've had a fear of the Dentist for like umpteen years because of all the crap I've had done to my teeth. I'm getting over it. Thank goodness. Mainly, it's thanks to our friend, Paul, who is the dentist that I go to now. He has a great Hygienist. Anyway, Dean & I had a conversation last night. Ever since I was a little kid I've brushed my teeth before going to the Dentist. Something was mentioned yesterday & Dean said "I don't brush before I go to the Dentist". REALLY?? He said why would he, they brush them there? Hmmmm. My response to that was "you wouldn't go get all sweaty & then go to the gyno without bathing right??". Dean's response to this was "Well, when you put it like that it makes a lot of sense.". So, do you brush your teeth before going to the dentist???

Random Hump Day!

It's Wednesday & that means Yogalates! I can't say that I'm excited about it but I do look forward to it a little so that's something right? I've been eating pretty good this week too. Hopefully, that will continue.

I bought this thing Sunday at CVS.
I use the term buy loosely because technically it was free! HA! I had CVS Extra Bucks & coupons. I've seen lots of people talking about the Clarisonic but with the price tag on that thing there was no way I was buying it. I saw the Olay one in the paper & it's only $30. Affordable even if you don't have coupons. Has anyone tried it? Olay claims it works just as well as the Clarisonic. I haven't tried it yet because I keep forgetting. Hopefully, I'll remember tonight.

Today's another beautiful day. Yes, that's sarcasm. It's cold, cloudy & going to start raining this afternoon. I'm soooo over the weather. I'm ready for pretty days & pool water warm enough to get in!

I finished a couple more books in the last week.  The first one was How I Learned to Love the Walrus
I've read another book by Beth Orsoff & really, really liked it. It was called Romantically Challenged. This Walrus one wasn't as good as that one but it was cute & it was only $2.99 on the Nook so I really can't complain. The other book I finished is Stash.
This one started out great. I was able to get interested in it right away & it didn't take long before something happened to really get you into the story. However, it didn't continue that way. There were like 3 or 4 main characters & they were all involved with the same story line but the way the author went from one to the other seemed choppy to me. I don't know how to explain it but suffice it to say I don't recommend this one. Luckily, this came from the free book pile at work that my friend Wendy has access to. Currently, I'm reading Kisser by Stuart Woods.
This is the 17th book in the Stone Barrington series. I really love these books. They're murder mysteries but always good. They don't have to be read in order either.

I guess I've been random enough for one day. Have a good Wednesday!

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday! I did NOT want to get out of bed this morning. I was sleeping so good! We had a fun night & I didn't get to sleep until 10:00 which is late for me on a work night. We went across the street for a Super Bowl Party. There was tons of good food! I think I may have seen 3 plays of the game. I didn't even see many commercials. It doesn't seem to be as big a deal to watch them knowing I can go on YouTube & see what I missed.

Today I'm linking up to Between Naps On The Porch,   DIY by Design
and Elements Interiors
I've made several Mardi Gras wreaths this year for my mom & some of my friends. I forgot to take a before picture but I just used the green Christmas wreaths & then wrapped them with tinsel. This is the wreath I made for my friend Allison.
This is the one I made for my mom.
It looks a lot better hanging on her door that it does here. It was hanging crooked & I didn't realize it & the bow wasn't sitting right. I swear I think one of my eyes is lower than the other one. I found the fleur de lis' at Hob Lob. Love them!
This is the one I made for Wendy.
Here's a  close up of the bow. I like to use 2 or 3 different types of ribbon. I love the wide ribbon so much. Depending on which way the light hits it looks different colors. Sometimes purple, sometimes green. I found it at Hob Lob too!

This year we have a late Mardi Gras. It's not until March 8th. I like that because it means a longer Mardi Gras season which in turn means more king cake & we can keep our wreaths up longer!

Today is class 3 of Yogalates. The soreness is much better today. I'm sure it'll be back with a vengeance tomorrow but that's ok!

I'm Still Here

I didn't realize it had been so long since I updated. Since Wednesday, I woke up Thursday morning very sore. What hurt the most was to sit down. Not actually sitting, the motion of sitting. The front of my thighs, I have no idea what you call them, HURT!! I was a little more sore Friday but I went for class #2. It was hard since I was so sore but I did it.

Yesterday, Dean & I went shopping. We went to Sam's, Target, Academy & Walmart. This is probably going to annoy some people but I don't understand the greatness of Target. I just don't get it. Several things that I was going to buy they didn't have. We moved on to Academy & I found some yoga clothes. I have a couple pair of pants but I need some shorter ones because it's hot. I found 2 pair that are a little past my knee. I picked up 2 sports bras & 2 dry fit tank tops. I've decided these tight fitting tanks are a must for yoga. Loose stuff gets in the way. It's cute stuff but doesn't necessarily look too cute on me. HA! I'm really pasty white! If you're in the market for yoga clothes, Academy has a great selection at reasonable prices. They had Under Armour, Nike & all that but I just got the Academy brand & I still spent $100. Whenever I feel like quitting, I just need to remember that I've invested in these clothes so I have to keep going!!

I got an early Valentine's gift.
It wasn't a surprise because I ordered it myself. Funny how I was just talking about not thinking Target is anything special but that's where my gift came from. Wanna know what it is??
New dishes!!! I'm very excited about these. When we got married we didn't register everyday dishes because Dean had some. I found these on Targets website. It's a 20 piece set, they were on sale for $55 plus if you spent over $100, it was an additional 10% off & free shipping. I ordered 2 sets. I'm so glad I ordered when I did because now they're $70 a set! The above picture is the dinner plate.
 The saucers.
I really love the bowls because of the little handles on each side.
This is the salad plates. I love this side. I was so excited to see how pretty they are in person. I got them all washed yesterday & we ate on the for the first time today.

Once we came home from shopping yesterday I took a little nap & we went to Mass. Since we didn't go out for dinner Friday night we went after Mass. We went to Monjuni's. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in town. I love their wedding cake martini. I was bummed when we walked in the the hostess told us that due to a tax mix up with the previous owners they weren't serving alcohol. Oh well. That saved me some calories & some money!  I had the veggie lasagna & it was delicious as usual!!

I had a couple of errands to run this morning. One of which was to go to Calvin's & get some chicken salad to have for lunch this week. Love that stuff!

I'd told you that I worked on one of my closets last weekend. I haven't posted pictures because I still needed to pick up a few things. I was able to get that stuff today. I was hoping to finish the closet but we went to visit our Godchild. We hadn't brought her her Christmas gift yet. We stayed there awhile & in a bit we're going across the street for a Super Bowl party. I love parties that are next door or across the street. It's so convenient!!

That was my weekend. Hope y'alls was good!!

I'm Not Dead...

Today was my first Yogalates class & I'm still alive!!! Can you tell I'm very excited about this? What's even better is that I never even felt like I was going to die! The class wasn't easy but I did it. There were a couple of times that I couldn't do all the reps but considering it was my first time I think I did really good. My friend Sheri has been going for 3 weeks & she'll still can't do it all so I did well to keep up. I don't love it like my friends do but they didn't love it at first either so I'm still hopeful. My next class will be Friday. After going to this first class I can see a Friday class could be problematic for my social life. See, class went fine BUT there was a lot of sweating. You could've taken my picture & put it in the dictionary under "Hot Mess". It was bad. Slicked back hair & all. Oh well. Nobody was looking at me. Back to it being problematic. We go out to eat on Friday nights. I guess you can say it's our thing. So, I'll have to come home shower & fix my hair & makeup. By the time I do all that we won't be leaving the house until 8:00. I'll have to figure that out.

Something else that was really great about the class was that I didn't want to eat when I got home. Not a big meal anyway. I ate a bowl of cheerios. I'm thinking I'll sleep really good tonight too.

I am a little concerned that I won't be able to get out of bed in the morning. We'll see how that goes.

So, all in all, I call the first class a success!!

Now I'm going lay on the sofa & read my book!!!
