My Little Pets

We don't have any pets at my house so when the Hummingbirds start showing up I make sure to have "food" out for them. Aside from planting lots of Hummingbird loving plants, I put out the sugar water. The last week they've been all over the place. I guess they're filling up for when they leave. I have 2 feeders out. This one is right outside the living room so I can watch them from the sofa.
This guy seems to be Mr. In Charge. He kept chasing off the other ones.

Can you tell there are 3 on this feeder?

I took this one this morning. I know these aren't good pictures but I was having to take them through the window so as not to scare them off.
At one point this morning there were 7 at the feeder! It was so neat to watch.

I'll miss them when they're gone.

I'm joining the party at A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday.

Toodles!

  1. Traci, they are very hard to get pics of. We have several too and they fight each other away. I am refilling my one feeder twice a week now, but soon they will be gone.

  3. We enjoy watching them too. Logan is starting to notice them. Last year, Scott held the feeder and they landed on it. THAT WAS NEAT!

  4. OUrs hummingbirds will follow us when we refill and bring out the feeder. They are fearless...when I garden, they come right up to me and look at me. They are noisy too! Your photos are great...I can never get a good picyure of one...their little wings move much too fast!

  5. I just love the hummingbirds, Traci. They are so fast and so cute. After Hurricane Gustav, we had so many of them, they must have been hungry after the storm. We had like 15 to 20 swarming and flying everywhere and they did not even mind that we were there in the porch with them. Your shots are beautiful..Christine

  7. Hi, Traci. I hung a hummingbird feeder in our front yard so we can watch the guys while we eat our meals. I like to think they know when we're eating, and so they come out and give us a show. Nice shots. I have yet to even get a long shot of our visitors.

    Su-sieee! Mac

  8. Hummingbirds are so cool and I love watching them too! We didn't put out feeders this year, but they liked the bright pink flowers I had on my deck, so they still came by.

  10. I sure hope it cools off pretty soon, Traci. It feels better today than yesterday so maybe the cooler weather is coming. Come back when you have a chance. I posted old pictures of Natchez in the 1800's...Christine
