Hump Day

Why is Wednesday called hump day? Anyone?? I think there's some saying about getting over the hump but I don't know. I've never been very good with sayings. The one I'll never live down is the whole fat lady singing thing. I made the comment as a teenager how I've never seen a fat lady singing at the end of anything so I don't get the saying. My family thought this was hilarious & labeled it a blond moment. I could never make them understand that I KNEW it was a saying but what I was trying to say was that it didn't make any sense because THERE ISN'T A FAT LADY SINGING AT THE END OF ANYTHING. Stuff like that just doesn't make sense to me. I guess maybe I'm too literal? Anyway, I'm glad it's Wed. & the work day is more than half over. YAY!

We've had a delicious meal the last 2 nights.
Sunday night Dean seasoned a roast & I put it in the crock pot Monday morning before I left for work. How about that teamwork?? It was good but not as good as the last roast which was one of the best roast ever cooked. I made quinoa & I put a bag of seasoning blend in when I cooked it & we had frozen green beans. I've recently decided that I'm a fan of frozen veggies. They're so good. It's like they're fresh. We had this Monday night & Tuesday night & yes we will be having it again tonight because this roast obviously came off of a large cow. Dean's variation of the meal last night was rice instead of quinoa. He can only go without rice for so long. I also made us each a small salad so we had lots of veggies last night.
This is the news of the day in Baton Rouge. Community Coffee is FINALLY making K-cups. This was a huge deal on Facebook. It's not a big deal to me because I started my coffee drinking with Starbucks but Community is a local company that everyone LOVES. People bring their Community with them when they travel. Kind of like how the New Orlenians feel about Chicory. My only experience with Community was a few weeks ago when I stopped after Race for the Cure for a Guilt Free Turtle Latte. It was really good so I guess I'll try out some CC's K cups.

Friday I had another appointment with the eye doctor. Red eyes was the issue. She had changed the solution I use but that didn't done anything. She said my eyes look good & that it must be allergies. Go figure. After my appointment I went to Ulta. I had a coupon for a free gift because of the points I earned the last quarter & I needed some hair stuff.
No, I didn't need nail polish. This one is OPI's My Address Is Hollywood. I did my toes & i really like it. I was planning to buy a bottle of Butter London polish because it was on sale for $9 & it's normally $15 so I was going to try it. Note to Ulta Marketing or whoever is in charge of setting up the displays - putting nail polish by the perfume where it normally isn't is not a good strategy. Especially, when there's a small display when you walk in the front door. This made me think that was all that was left. I looked by the other polish & there wasn't any. I didn't bother to ask because I've done that before only to be told "everything we have is out". Later when I talked to Wendy she told me where the rest of it was. BY THE PERFUME. She'd been by there earlier Friday. I decided it was better that I didn't find it. I'm sure I would've loved it & really, who needs $15 nail polish?? Not me. Also, fellow Ulta shoppers, coupons can no longer be used on OPI. sigh. There were signs all over that store that said "Effective March 13th OPI is an exclusion & coupons may not be used". So annoying. Seriously, they're making it very easy for me to just shop at Amazon. Not to mention every time I go in there it looks like their was a raid on OPI polish. I just can't imagine that many people happen to be in a nail polish frenzy on the days I choose to shop. I think they're not restocking. On to my free gift. I was a level 4 this quarter & there was a list of stuff I could choose from. I was interested in 4 of the items on the list & they didn't have any of them. sigh. That's when I found this.
It's Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm. The color is Fresh Plum. Not my first choice. This was the ONLY tube of this stuff in the store. Well, unless it was over by the perfume. I was tired of being in the store looking for stuff they didn't have so I just took it, paid & left. I LOVE IT!! The color isn't bad. Basically, it's tinted lip balm. Not as glossy as gloss but balmier than lipstick. Does that make sense? Next time I'm at Walmart or somewhere else that I despise I'm going to see if they have one of the other colors.

This weeks workouts so far:
Sunday - 4 mi. run
Monday - Weights & squats & push ups (I just did my own thing)
Tuesday - Yoglates
Wednesday - 3 mi. run this morning & I'll do weights when I get home.

I'm going to reward myself for my 2 workouts today with a vanilla protein smoothie. HA! I'm going to make it with the vanilla almond milk & see how I like it. I'll report back.

Friday

Dean & I were both off today so we did some shopping. Have y'all seen the Muppets OPI collection? It's so cute! There are colors like Rainbow Connection & Divine Swine. Some are all glittery & there's even a green color. I went to Ulta today & got this
Not the greatest pic but the colors are Animalistic & Gettin' Miss Piggy With It. Cute huh? Gettin' Miss Piggy is a very glittery red. They're both pretty colors. The silver glittery things are the toe separators. I bought this for my little cousin's birthday. I also got her a movie gift card to go with it because I know they're going to see the new Muppet movie.

During the holidays when we go to parties I always bring a bottle of wine as a hostess gift. I ordered these cute labels this week.
I ordered these from Bottle Your Brand. There are lots of different designs, not just Christmas & you can customize the message. It's hard to tell in the picture but the damask pattern is green. They can be used on anything & have an adhesive back. They're cheap too at only .99 each. I ordered them Tuesday I believe & they arrived today.

We also picked up a couple of Christmas gifts & had lunch at Pluckers.

In case you don't know, Starbuck's has a promotion going on. Buy a holiday drink & get one free. It's only Nov. 17-20 btwn. 2-5. Well, we were leaving the mall about 2:30 & were going to be driving right by Starbuck's. My friend Wendy is always nice enough to bring me something from SB when she stops before work so I returned the favor. Our office is just down the street from SB.
I had the Caramel Creme Brulee Latte. It was really good! I liked it a lot better than the Mocha I had the other day. Wendy had the Gingerbread Latte & she really liked it. I need to put SB gift cards on my Christmas list!!

Spa Day....sort of

Yesterday, I had an appointment to get my hair cut & highlighted & I decided to leave work a little earlier & get my nails done too. I say it was sort of a spa day because I go to a nail salon by my house & the hair salon I go to is a good 30-40 mins. away. I really wish she'd move to a salon closer but I know that's not going to happen. This is OPI Heart Throb. It's a really pretty pink.
I even went to Sonic & got a Dr. Pepper during Happy Hour. I've been doing soooo good limiting my Dr. Pepper intake. I've only been drinking one a week. When I say one, I mean a 12 oz. can. That's it. Yesterday, I went ahead & got a 32 oz. There's not a lot better than a DP from Sonic with their crushed ice goodness!

Moving on. So who still watches Grey's Anatomy?? Just when I thought it was back to being really good again last night happened. Dean liked it. I don't even know what to say about that. He thinks part of my problem with it is that I didn't know what to expect. I've been seeing advertisements for weeks,  "a musical event". Yeh, ok, whatever. I thought that meant it would be like the first couple of seasons when they played a lot of music (that's what introduced me to The Fray). Yeh, not so much. APPARENTLY, I wasn't hearing the commercials correctly. Instead of "a musical event" that I was hearing, they were saying "A MUSICAL event". I don't know if that translates correctly but anyway. On my way home from work I heard Ryan Seacrest say something about Grey's being a Musical & I was like "no, it's not a musical" because it never occurred to me they could/would do that. Sadly, they did. Dean knew about this because he'd read it somewhere. Not only was there singing, THERE WAS DANCING!!! Really? In the ER when one of their own is on the verge of death who just happens to be pregnant with one of the other Dr's babies & her lesbian "partner" is also a co-worker? WEIRD WEIRD WEIRD!!!!! I just thought the ghost business a few years ago was weird. I sure hope things get back on track next week.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Our Anniversary

I had a couple comments & a bunch of emails about my butterfly pictures. Thanks! I thought they were pretty too. I took them with my current camera. You know, "Pencil Camera" as my friend Wendy dubbed it. It's actually much more annoying that I first thought it would be so I've ordered a new camera. WOOO HOOO!!! I'm very excited. After doing some research, perusing a lot of blogs & asking for LOTS of opinions I decided on this one.

It's a Canon Powershot SD1300. I was planning to wait until closer to Thanksgiving to see if I could get a deal but I found it online on sale with free shipping & no tax so I ordered it. It shipped tonight from Salt Lake City. It says it's coming via UPS but it's not scheduled to be delivered until the 13th. Good grief, why is taking a week?? Anyway, I plan to do something with this camera that I've never done with any others. I plan to learn how to work it!! This isn't the first time I've said this. I'm going to try really hard to follow through. I just really hate reading directions. I'm like a man when it comes to that. Generally, I just read enough to figure out how to take a picture with the auto mode & that's as far as I get. I would really like someone to just show me how to work everything.

Dean & I had dinner tonight at Louisiana Lagniappe. Our 7th Anniversary was Monday & I had a meeting at Church that I needed to attend so we went tonight. If you're ever in Baton Rouge or in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach you must try it. We had Fresh Fish en Papillote which is fresh fish (it was black drum tonight) topped with lump crab meat and shrimp stuffing, baked in parchment paper and finished with a light garlic beurre blanc. Soooo good.

Yesterday, I had a manicure.
The color is OPI's Aphrodite's Pink Nightie. It's very shimmery & kind of a neutral pink, if that makes sense.

I hope everyone's having a good week!

There was a casualty!

We're done with the lights!! Wooo Hoooo!!! So happy! We finished hanging them Monday & as of this morning when I left for work they were still there.  I really like them. I don't have pictures yet because I need to make a Hob Lob stop to pick up some new candles. Unfortunately, I didn't make it out unscathed.

My poor, poor nails! You can't really see but the second nail is a little chipped too. This happened because the inside of the glass globes is some sort of rough material & when I was screwing in the light bulbs my nails were in the way. I think doing one or two would've been fine but I had (3) 3 globe lights. Needless to say I need to have it fixed. The color is OPI's "Your Villa Or Mine" & I really like it so I'll just stop by the nail place & have them re-paint the 2 messed up ones.

I did a good deed today. Well, some of you may argue the point but it was a good deed in my eyes. Let me back up. I don't like cats. Like, I really, really don't like them. I never have. I'm a dog person & always have been. It oogs me out the way cats walk all over everything. This morning when I got to work there were a couple of people standing around the car of a co-worker looking under her hood. I just figured that she was having some sort of car trouble. As I started walking to the building she told me that she'd driven all the way from Central (about a 45 min. drive) with a cat under her hood. I asked if it was alive & she said yes, it meowed the entire drive. Of course I busted out laughing at that. Sorry, I couldn't help it. You have to admit it's a little funny. Anyway, they couldn't get the cat out. My thought was to just leave the hood up & go about your day. The cat found a way in, he'll find a way out. When I got to my office I told one of the ladies that works with me about it. She's a HUGE animal lover/rescuer. She keeps food, cages & meds in her car just in case. People are always dropping animals off to her. She moved to the country so that she could have a rescue organization on site. I thought she may entice the cat with some food. Off she went & off to the window went me & a couple of other co-workers to watch how this played out. The next thing we know, "Rescue Lady" is laying on the ground under the car & a couple of people are holding umbrella's over her because of course it started raining. The next thing we know one of the guys that's attempting to help takes off running. That's a whole different story in itself. This guy's nickname is Barney Fife. He was the "security" person at our office & his truck was stolen while he was on duty in the middle of the day but I digress. So, he comes running back & we see that he has either a wrench or a screwdriver. He joins "Rescue Lady" on the ground & the next thing you know she's up with the cat. Apparently, the cat had climbed into the front bumper  that runs around the corner of the car by the tire & made himself at home. Security guy was running to get the tool because rescue lady was holding the cat by his feet so he would stay put until they could get the bumper off.

Some of you may be asking how that was a good deed for me but they may still be down there trying to get the cat out if I wouldn't have notified "Rescue Lady".
