A Dr. Pepper Kind of Day

Thank goodness the week is almost over. It's been a hard, long week. I've been really burnt out on work lately. I'm ready for a vacation & that's really pathetic because we've only been home from vacation for 2 months. Tomorrow, I'm only working until 12:30 so I'll be able to start the weekend early. Dean is off all day. That's part of my problem. Dean has Friday's off every few weeks & he gets 5 weeks of vacation & I only get 3. That means lots of days getting up & going to work while Dean gets to stay in bed. It's a real bummer. I know I'm very lucky to have my job I just wish I didn't need it. I'm so ready for retirement!! We have even started going in with the neighbors & buying Powerball tickets in hopes of splitting the winnings. This is the really ridiculous part, we only buy tickets when the winnings are in the $90 million & up range. You know $40 or $50 million wouldn't do at all!

Today was a rough day. One of those days that I had multiple Dr. Peppers. Like 4. I know it's awful but I forgot to make tea last night & I didn't feel like doing it this morning. God forbid I actually drink water!!!

This weekend is going to be busy but it should be fun. I'm going to the St. Patrick's Day parade Saturday, there are LSU ballgames all weekend & at some point I want to see Logan. He's walking now & I know he wants to show off for his Tante!! Our friend/cousin by marriage is coming over with baby Sam to visit too. I can't wait to see them either. It's been awhile since I've seen Sam. I'm sure she has new tricks too! I should have lots of cute pics to post by the end of the weekend!!

I just saw a commercial for shrimp taco's at Taco Bell. Now I love Taco Bell as much as the next person but shrimp, really? I could never bring myself to order shrimp at Taco Bell. It's just not happening.

It's time for Grey's. I hope it's good tonight. I've been a bit disappointed the last couple of weeks.

Toodles for now.

Preparing for St. Patrick's Day

Saturday is Baton Rouge's St. Patrick's Day Parade & I'm going with friends. I decided that I needed a cute shirt. I found exactly what I wanted online but really didn't think it made sense to pay $40+ for a St. Patrick's Day shirt just because it had Swarovski crystals on it. Oh, but it was cute! Yesterday at lunch I ran over to Charming Charlie's. I LOVE that store! They had some cute stuff but no St. Paddy's
Day. I did find this.

It was marked down to $15.00 which was 50% off. I got these too.

I don't have anything like them. I thought they were cute & they were marked down to $1.00. I couldn't pass that up!

A few people told me that Target had some cute St. Paddy's Day shirts so today at lunch I went to see. There were a couple of cute ones but this one was my favorite.

I wish the shirt was white but it was $5.00 so I'll deal with it! I couldn't believe it was so cheap. The shirt is kinda thick too. Not a typical $5 t-shirt. If anyone knows anywhere else that's selling cute shirts let me know. I'm not opposed to buying another one since this one was so cheap!!!

Toodles!

Our Football Players Don't Kill People

But they do get tased. Terrance Toliver, a starting Receiver for LSU, got in a fight Saturday night in the parking lot of a bar. He was cited for "disturbing the peace by fistic encounter; disturbing the peace by public intoxication and resisting an officer”. I've never heard the term "fistic encounter". Interesting. Then all the media outlets reported that he “refused to comply with officers’ commands and was tased.” I have questions. First of all, what exactly do you have to do to get tased? What commands didn't he comply with? Also, he was not arrested. He was only "cited". Please, please tell me how you manage to get tased but not arrested. Seems to me they should go hand in hand.

In more disturbing news, Scott Fujita is no longer a Saint. I'm glad I didn't buy that jersey. He's a Cleveland Brown now. They have awful uniforms. That's why I don't like professional sports as much as college. Your team becomes great, you start picking favorites, they win the Super Bowl & then they go & sign with someone else. I hate to see him leave. The Saints were a nice, non thug team. They didn't kill people or even get arrested. Hopefully, they won't replace him with a big loser thug.

Oh & before I go, Lil Wayne did go to jail today.

Tutu's & Petit Fors

As usual the weekend has flown by. Saturday, I cleaned house. Really cleaned house. I did baseboards & mopped. Uggghhhh. I hated every minute of it. One good thing is it was a beautiful day so I opened all the windows. We had a surprise party to go to last night. Our friend Sandra was 40. We had a good time hanging out & eating. Here are the girls.

Here's Dean & I. Can't you tell he's thrilled with me taking pics of us. This was take 3!!

This is my new friend, Gilley.

He's our friends that hosted the party last nights dog. I've never been a fan of big dogs but he was just the sweetest thing! Maybe he sensed that I need a puppy. He sat by me for the longest time. It's got me thinking that maybe I need a cute little puppy for inside & a big dog for the backyard. Dean definitely won't go for that!!

Today I went to Mass & ran a few errands. This afternoon I went to my friend Wendy's baby shower. I've known Wendy for years & years & years & now me, Wendy & her hubby all work for the same company. Wendy is the "founder" of "The Worst Book Club Ever"! This is Allison, me, Wendy & Vicki. The cross looks like it's sitting on Vicki's head!

Little Emily Hope is due April 23rd. She's going to be one well dressed little girl! The outfits she got were soooo cute. Especially this one

This one is my favorite.

I love Wendy's expression. I was so busy trying to get her reaction that I didn't get the whole outfit. It's a white onesie with the Saints fleur de lis on it & the tutu goes on over it. Emily's daddy is a HUGE Saints fan. I can't wait to see her in it. Of course the best part of all showers is the food! These were soooo good!
\
We played Bingo with M&M's. This turned out to be a bit difficult. We kept eating the M&M's!

Of course they were pink!

It was another really pretty day so when I got home from the shower I sat on the patio with a glass of wine while Dean grilled. This was dessert.

Notice the Cadbury egg. Yep, I broke down when I was CVS today. They were on sale. I couldn't pass them up!!!!

Time for bed. Have a good Monday!!

Lil Jermajesty

FINALLY! It's Friday. For whatever reason, I didn't think this week would ever end. Seriously. The slowest week ever.

The other day I talked about Lil Wayne's sentencing being delayed a day due to the courthouse fire. Well, Lil still isn't in jail. That will come Monday unless some other unbelievable something happens. Apparently, there was damage to the courthouse & they won't re-open until Monday. Things could get interesting. With his second last weekend of freedom it is not outside the realm of possibility that he does something else to get arrested for. We'll see.

The whole stun gun incident is still a big hoorah at the Jackson house. What I find more interesting is that someone would actually name their kid Jermajesty. I'm not kidding people. That is one of Jermaine's kids. Maybe he can be a rapper, Lil Jermajesty!!

Once again I'm not at the baseball game. You guessed it, too cold! I've said it a lot recently but I need some warm weather. I'd never make it living somewhere that is really cold, like Minnesota. When I say I want warm weather I don't mean August temps either. There's no need for it to be 50 or 100. Somewhere around 80 everyday would be ideal. Do you think Mother Nature reads my blog?? That's what I thought.

After work I met Dean at Brewbachers to eat. I love Brewbachers. "Back in the day" my friends & I frequented it at least once a week. Usually, after LSU games, both baseball & football. I like going before & after games because there's always a million people we know there & it's like a big party.

I caught up on some DVR stuff tonight that Dean isn't interested in. The mindless TV that I love so much! The season finale of Real Housewives of OC & the season premier of Real Housewives of NY were both on last night but after my bed time. Of all the Housewives shows I think OC is my favorite. Probably just because I love California so much & it's one place that I would love to live. The NY housewives was great! If you're not watching these shows you're missing out. I did have a revelation tonight while watching. Ramona is the female version of Vince Vaughn. Once her mouth gets going it's virtually impossible for her to zip it. Kelly was only on for a bit which makes me very happy. I DO NOT like that girl. I use the term girl loosely because I swear she's really a man. I'm sick to death of hearing "Countess". Get over yourself. I say if the Count divorces you, you're no longer a Countess. Anyway, so far Bethenny's still my favorite.

Look what I got.

I had a couple of coupons for JCPenney's & I've been needing/wanting a pair of black flats so I went to see what they had. They were $50 shoes on sale for $30. I had a 15% off coupon & then if you use your JCP card they gave you a scratch off for additional savings. I got another 15% off so I paid like $23 for them. Sounds like a deal to me! Now I just need to find some cute brown flats.

Night Night!

Back In The Day

I had every intention of going to the LSU game tonight but it's cold. Not freezing cold but it will be when the sun goes down. Any other year I would be going & just bundling up but I've absolutely had it with this cold weather. I cannot deal with it anymore. Not to mention LSU is playing Pepperdine. You know from beautiful, sunny, southern California? Malibu to be exact. Why exactly aren't we playing there?? Back in the day of Skip Bertman coached teams they may come here to play but we'd be going there at some point too. Not anymore. Dean & I made a trip to Long Beach, CA (home to Snoop Dogg) in 2003. LSU was playing the "Dirt Bags" of Long Beach State. That was one of the best trips I've ever been on. After much badgering, Dean agreed to drive to Malibu one day. My friend Donna & I wanted to see stars. Unfortunately, none were to be seen. At one point I just wanted to know who lived in the beachfront mansions we were driving past. Dean, however, is not star struck & flat out refused to stop & let me ask the cop. He said he didn't want to be arrested for stalking. As if. We were driving down the Pacific Coast Highway doing nothing wrong. Surely if the can't arrest the papparazzi the wouldn't have found a reason to arrest us, but I digress. While in Malibu we stopped to see the Pepperdine baseball field. It was nothing special. Kind of a glorified high school stadium. There was one thing that made you forget that though - the most fabulous view of the Pacific Ocean! Yep, look over the outfield wall & you saw the water. It was GORGEOUS!!! I have pictures but that was before the days of digital cameras & I haven't figured out how to work the new fancy all in one printer, scanner, fax, copier that we have. It's a year old now so I guess it's time to figure it out huh? Anyway, I'm home inside, on the sofa, under a blanket watching TV. Here's a picture of Pepperdine I found on their website.

Speaking of TV. Tonight is the season finale of Real Housewives of OC. I hate that the season is over already but replacing it is Real Housewives of NY. Based on different things I've read, a lot has happened between seasons & it should be great. I have the DVR set. Being the mawmaw that I am, there's no way I can stay up & watch until 11:00.

Yesterday, I commented on how I've been cutting back on my eating & doing really well this week. Well, tonight, not so much. I realized that we really didn't have anything in the house to eat. There wouldn't be time to cook since Dean is going to the game. I've been wanting one of my old favorites, Arby's!! I love Arby's but I don't go often. It reminds me of "back in the day". Baton Rouge didn't have an Arby's but all other SEC cities did. Every baseball road trip I went on we had had had to eat at Arby's! Weird I know. They have the best curly fries & I love their chocolate shake & roast beef sandwich. Of course you can't forget the Arby's sauce. Not to be confused with "horsey" sauce! There's a story there but I don't remember what it was. Anyway, it's not the same without the sauce. One thing has changed thought, the price. I'm pretty sure you could get a combo meal with a really big Dr. Pepper for like $5. It was $15 for Dean & I to eat!!

Later!

Slowest Week Ever

I'm on a never ending quest to find fun things to do. Not the same old stuff but new things. Unfortunately, all things fun for me turn into a trip, Vegas, the cruise. See where I'm going with this? This is just a mini trip. In July we're going to Houston for our friends Katie & Sean's wedding. We've known Katie since like 2000 & we love her. She played volleyball at LSU & tailgated with us for years. She has sooo much energy & makes you happy just talking to her. She's also the tallest girl I know. We really like Sean a lot too & in keeping with the theme, he's the tallest guy I know! So, this leads me to our trip. The wedding is a Saturday in July so Friday night we're going to Minute Maid to see the Astros play the Cardinals. I'm not a huge fan of either team. Dean is a "Lastros" fan & we're both excited to see Albert Pujols being that he's a future hall of famer. I think it will be fun. Since I'm such an early bird buying tickets, we have AWESOME seats!!

We're in Section 122. I'm excited.

All week I've been attempting to eat better. I've also been trying to limit my Dr. Pepper intake. That's been the really hard part but I've been pretty successful. However, it may be coming to an end shortly. As I type this I'm having a craving. Like a really big craving.

I LOOOOVVVVEEE Cadbury Eggs! Love, Love, Love!!! I don't even know what got me thinking about them. Oh well, I'll have to deal with it for the time being because it's almost 9:00 & cold.

Toodles!!
