Weigh In Wednesday on Thursday

I didn't have time to blog yesterday. I lost .8 again this week. Oh well, a loss is a loss so I'm happy.

Today is my Friday & I'm VERY excited. We leave for the beach tomorrow morning. Yesterday after work I went & got my nails beach ready. I had a mani &  pedi. I tried Shellac for the first time on my fingers. It's supposed to last longer. We'll see. For $5 more I thought I'd give it a try. There are a lot of colors to choose from.

This is called Gotcha. It's a little brighter than what I normally wear on my nails but I thought it would be great for the beach. I didn't realize it until this morning but it matches my purse perfectly! I also didn't notice until I took this picture that I have old hands. On my toes I got OPI's Strawberry Margarita.

Speaking of feet. I entered a contest a few weeks ago on Veronika's blog for Stiletto Hardware & I won! I got all this stuff to make my shoes more comfy.
There are heel pads & ball of the feet pads. If you know me you know all about my cute over comfort mantra. I have some of the most uncomfortable shoes known to man but they're SOOOOO CUTE!!!

Well, as much as I'd like to continue to take pics of my nails & talk about shoes, I have actual work to do.

There was a casualty!

We're done with the lights!! Wooo Hoooo!!! So happy! We finished hanging them Monday & as of this morning when I left for work they were still there.  I really like them. I don't have pictures yet because I need to make a Hob Lob stop to pick up some new candles. Unfortunately, I didn't make it out unscathed.

My poor, poor nails! You can't really see but the second nail is a little chipped too. This happened because the inside of the glass globes is some sort of rough material & when I was screwing in the light bulbs my nails were in the way. I think doing one or two would've been fine but I had (3) 3 globe lights. Needless to say I need to have it fixed. The color is OPI's "Your Villa Or Mine" & I really like it so I'll just stop by the nail place & have them re-paint the 2 messed up ones.

I did a good deed today. Well, some of you may argue the point but it was a good deed in my eyes. Let me back up. I don't like cats. Like, I really, really don't like them. I never have. I'm a dog person & always have been. It oogs me out the way cats walk all over everything. This morning when I got to work there were a couple of people standing around the car of a co-worker looking under her hood. I just figured that she was having some sort of car trouble. As I started walking to the building she told me that she'd driven all the way from Central (about a 45 min. drive) with a cat under her hood. I asked if it was alive & she said yes, it meowed the entire drive. Of course I busted out laughing at that. Sorry, I couldn't help it. You have to admit it's a little funny. Anyway, they couldn't get the cat out. My thought was to just leave the hood up & go about your day. The cat found a way in, he'll find a way out. When I got to my office I told one of the ladies that works with me about it. She's a HUGE animal lover/rescuer. She keeps food, cages & meds in her car just in case. People are always dropping animals off to her. She moved to the country so that she could have a rescue organization on site. I thought she may entice the cat with some food. Off she went & off to the window went me & a couple of other co-workers to watch how this played out. The next thing we know, "Rescue Lady" is laying on the ground under the car & a couple of people are holding umbrella's over her because of course it started raining. The next thing we know one of the guys that's attempting to help takes off running. That's a whole different story in itself. This guy's nickname is Barney Fife. He was the "security" person at our office & his truck was stolen while he was on duty in the middle of the day but I digress. So, he comes running back & we see that he has either a wrench or a screwdriver. He joins "Rescue Lady" on the ground & the next thing you know she's up with the cat. Apparently, the cat had climbed into the front bumper  that runs around the corner of the car by the tire & made himself at home. Security guy was running to get the tool because rescue lady was holding the cat by his feet so he would stay put until they could get the bumper off.

Some of you may be asking how that was a good deed for me but they may still be down there trying to get the cat out if I wouldn't have notified "Rescue Lady".

Hangin' Tough

After work today I went & had my nails done. It was time for a new set & it took forever. I'm not sure why but i was there almost 2 hours! The people are really nice so it was ok. I saw the little lady that sits in front of me at Mass every week. She was "working" there. I say "working" because she told me she had no idea what she was doing but the guys asked her to come help out because someone called in sick. She's really funny!

Mike, the guy that did my nails, is a joke teller. To me the funniest joke is that this Vietnamese guy that barely speaks english goes by Mike!!! He told jokes, I laughed. It was much better than sitting there listening to them speak to each other in their language. Then a cute little Drew Barrymore look alike came in & talked my ear off. She'll be 20 July 5th, she works at Victoria Secrets & it's her first job. FYI - the girls at Victoria Secrets don't work on commission. Shocking, since they attack you multiple times while you're in the store! If anyone's looking for a second job or maybe just a first part-time one, I recommend Victoria Secrets based on Carrie's info. She gets a 30% discount & every time they come out with a new bra she gets a free one so she can give an "honest testimonial".  Carrie also lives in my subdivision & is meeting her boyfriends parents & grandparents for the first time tomorrow. She's quite nervous. Carrie's mom was at home sleeping. She had a procedure for the veins in her legs. I told you Carrie talked my ear off!

When I finally got home we veered from our normal Friday routine of going to dinner. We ate left overs & spent the evening in the pool. I use the term pool loosely. As hot as it is, it almost felt like a hot tub. It was definitely hotter than the hot tub on our cruise in January. We had these too.

I love Pina Coladas!!!

I have friends that are in New York this week. They've been texting & emailing all week making me jealous! Tonight they were at the New Kids On The Block concert at Radio City Music Hall. So cool. Well, being the good friends that they are they called me when little Joey Joe was singing Please Don't Go Girl & at the end when they sang Hangin' Tough. It was delightful. Much to Dean's chagrin, I put it on speaker phone & was able to hear & sing along. Oh how I wish I was there with them. Maybe next time.

I'm super excited because one week from tomorrow I'll on a plane to San Diego!! So so so excited!

Have a great weekend!

So Long, Farewell....

It just figures. This kind of thing happens to me all the time. What am I talking about?? I'll tell you. I needed to get my nails refilled. The new girl, Kim, that I started going to was going to be out for a few days due to her daughters surgery. I called yesterday to make sure she would be there today. The lady that answered the phone said that she would so I said I wanted to make an appointment. She said "OK Bye". UH NO WAIT - I tell her my name & that I'll be there at 5:00. Her response? "OK Bye". Hmmm. I'm not expecting much. Fast forward to today. When I got there they weren't busy so the appt. thing didn't matter. Kim gets started & breaks the news to me. SHE'S MOVING!!! Oh, that's ok, what salon?? Not moving to a different nail salon. Nooo, she's moving to Pennsylvania!!!! WTH??? This is soooo not good. Not completely surprising because whenever I like something or someone, it gets discontinued or they leave. So typical. I asked when her last day was. That would be next week. Lovely. Just freakin' lovely.

I'm not sure about my nail color. I chose OPI's Holy Pink Pagoda. It looked really pretty in the bottle. On my nails it's a little bright. I think it would look great on toes though. Those aren't chips, just the light.

When I got home Dean had already left for the game. I was skipping this one. The mid week games are hard for me because I'm such a mawmaw & need to go to bed early. Anyway, y'all know I'm not much on cooking & when I say not much on, I mean I can't cook much more than taco's & sloppy joes. I thought I was eating leftovers tonight but Dean cooked beef stew & it was FABULOUS!!! Sooo good.  I have the best husband!!!

Oh Bravo How I Love Thee!!!

I stopped on my way home from work today & got my nails done. Such a nice way to start the weekend. I really like the place I've been going. The little guy that owns the place is very nice. Their signs also make me laugh. I swear every time I go there's a new sign. First it was "We open Sunday Saturday", written exactly like that. Then there was "We're Not Accept Check". Today, there was an easel outside the door with a sign that said "WARNING!!!!!! Coming up Valentine's Day. We open Valentine's Day". I don't think they really understand that Valentine's Day is a gift giving opportunity but not so much having to have your nails done on that day! We got back into our regular routine & we went to dinner at La Caretta. It was really good! I haven't figured out what I'll be doing tomorrow aside from cleaning house.

You're probably wondering about the title. Well, while I was getting my nails done the TV was on CNN & I read at the bottom of the screen that Alice Horton from Days of Our Lives died. On our way to eat I was looking at TMZ on my phone to see how old Alice was. She was 95 & she was on the show as late as 2007. WOW! Anyway, on TMZ was the story about Charlie Sheen's stolen car being found at the bottom of a cliff & there was another story about another car that was stolen & found in a cliff as well. The Bentley was owned by Paris Hilton's aunt & in the article it said that she's a finalist for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. OMG OMG!!! SOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!! I didn't know a thing about it. I didn't even know Bravo was talking about a Beverly Hills show. I just happen to love, love, love Real Housewives of Orange County. Then of course there was New York. It's good. Then Atlanta, which is just completely ghetto. Then New Jersey which I liked except I keep expecting someone to end up in a trunk or on the bottom of the river. OC is definitely my fave but I have a feeling that it will move to second place once Beverly Hills comes out. I can't really explain the greatness of these shows. I can't imagine having the money they have & I just love seeing how they live. Not to mention I love to see where they live & how they decorate. I know it's the epitome of mindless TV but that's part of the greatness!! I did a little research & found this

I just cannot wait!!!!

In less that 48 hours we'll know whether the Saints won the Superbowl. It's all very exciting!!!!

It's Almost Friday!

We cruise in 2 days. I'm so ready to go. I'm tired of getting up at 5:30 everyday, I'm tired of going to work everyday, I'm just tired. I want to lay around & do nothing! In preparation for that I went & had my nails done. This particular nail salon is run by some Nese people, as most are. They're very nice but they always have little signs on the windows or out by the street & we always laugh about how they apparently write the way they talk. Like "We open Sunday, Saturday". No, I don't run a business but you'd think before putting up a sign that says "Sorry We're Not Take Checks", you'd check with someone to make sure it made sense. It made me laugh.

Although I'm ready to leave, one thing I'm not looking forward to is packing. I hate to pack. I can never decide what to bring. There's a bag limit so I can't just pack everything. I remember the good old days. The first time I went to Omaha for the College World Series was a girls trip. I will never forget (even if I could there are some people that won't let me) I packed 32 shirts for that trip. What's even better is that I wore all but 2 of them in the 10 days we were there. Back then even when you flew you could just check as many bags as you wanted & there wasn't a charge. Definitely the good old days.

When I got home tonight Dean's cousin Cassie & her little girl Emma came over. Emma's so cute!

Emma had a really good time playing with the swiffer!! Dean chased her around & then she chased him around. So cute!

I just thought that this one was really funny! I told her to "say cheese" & she did but this is all I could see!

Stick A Fork In Us

No Thugs is done! It's official. After starting the season with a bang our inexperience & ineptness kicked in & we lost 5 in a row. It wasn't good. Most of the games weren't even close. Just when I thought I knew what I was doing I find out that the lineups can be changed at the last minute as long as who you're changing hasn't played. Apparently, EVERYONE knew this but me. If Sean Peyton hadn't benched Carney, I still wouldn't know. So needless to say we didn't make the playoffs. Looking on the bright side though, we didn't come in completely last. That's something right??

Today is a sunny day. Finally! Seriously, I think it's rained at my house for like 2 weeks straight. Not to say that I haven't enjoyed the rain, at least at night, because sleeping while it storms is great! BUT raining on the way to work & having to deal with the traffic & an umbrella & trying to keep my hair from getting messed up isn't fun. A lot of that rain was wasted too. I haven't been getting in any naps on the weekends so I wasted some great sleeping weather. Of course today isn't a perfect weather day either. It's soooo windy. I didn't know about the hurricane or I would've put my hair in a ponytail. I had to run out at lunch & pick up yet another Christmas gift. I'm finished now. Aside from my hair needing to be cut & the wind I'm currently sporting my sunglasses as a hair accessory! It's a good thing I got the whole hair appointment thing worked out (I had an appt., then it was rescheduled, then I was going to cancel but it was rescheduled for when I needed it so now I'm going Friday morning). I'm not sure if I could take much more of this. While I was at the mall I looked around for something to wear to the Christmas party we're going to Friday night. I found nothing! Now, I have things I could wear but I wanted something new & sparkly & Christmasy. I didn't think that was too much to ask. What I discovered is that apparently the economy is not in bad enough shape to have the $90 tops on sale. That's all I could find & I haven't completely lost my mind yet. I have a couple of things to wear if it's not freezing cold. I'll just have to see what it's like tomorrow night.

On my way home from work I got my nails done. I guess if I don't have anything good to wear to the party at least my hands will look good. I would love for this to be a really relaxing experience but I spend the whole time stressing out over what the people are saying to me. I THINK I got a free set of gel nails instead of the regular ones as long as I promised to come back for my refill. This place is fairly new. I've never been there before but it's on my way home from work. I liked it a lot because the guy that did my nails & the chick doing the pedicures didn't really talk to each other so I didn't have to listen to their language (which isn't a pretty language at all, I'm just saying) or worry that they were talking about me. He even gave me coupons when I left. I think he recognized that I wasn't a regular like the other people that were there. I don't really care about the reason I'm just happy to have a coupon for my refill!!!!!

I love the way they look! Maybe I'll make this a regular thing.
