Here's the thing...our fantasy football team No Thugs, is really not very good. I've been over this before. We had the last pick, we've only won 2 games this season, etc. Well, NOW we have injuries to deal with. Let me say this, talent has pretty much nothing to do with fantasy football. Seriously, it's all about luck. If anyone's husbands are trying to convince you of how smart they are because they're leading their league, don't buy it. It's LUCK!! And our luck isn't very good. This week our Kicker, Nate Kaeding, is injured. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal because after all, he's a kicker BUT our Kicker is sometimes our second leading scorer. Yes, he scores more points than our RB & WR!! That would be running backs & wide receivers for those of you that are actually trying to keep up & have no idea what I'm talking about. So back to the injury, it's his shoulder. A kicker doesn't use his shoulder so why can't he play?? Anyway, when injuries occur teams are allowed to pick up a player to replace the injured one. This also requires teams to drop a player because of roster limitations. We don't know how serious Kaeding's injury is & being that he scores lots of points we don't want to drop him. My conversation with my co-owner went like this:
Me: I'd like to keep Kaeding & drop one of the Bozo's that sits on our bench & doesn't get us any points. What do you think?
Wendy: Drop a Bozo.
So there you have it. Good luck to us!!

Pretty Random & All Over The Place
Another busy weekend & no home internet has led to a blog lapse. Thankfully, I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Friday when I left work I went straight to my parents new house. I went across the street to see Logan for a little bit. He was in such a good mood! He does a lot of hugging now which is really sweet. Back across the street I went to join in the painting fun! We made a lot of progress & were able to take Saturday off which worked out well because I had our Fantasy Football Draft. I also had birthday gifts to buy so I stopped at Target on the way to Allison's for the draft. The toy dept. at Target on a Saturday is NOT a place I ever want to be again. It was madness. I picked out some gifts & got out of there as quick as I could.
The draft was a lot of fun for about the first 2 hours then, not so much. That's what happens when you have the 12th pick & the draft starts an hour late because one of the guys had to go to a shower with his girlfriend but that's another story. Anyone wondering how many picks per round there are?? That would be 12. Yep, we were last. This is when you see how differently the men think. They all kept telling us that was good because we get 2 picks in a row the whole draft. For those of you not up on the latest fantasy football draft etiquette, it goes picks 1-12, then 12-1 & continues that way for 16 rounds. Well, it's not good to be last & it doesn't matter that you get 2 picks in a row because basically you sit there figuring out who you want only to have them all taken when they get to you & then you have to come up with 2 players. The ONLY time this can be considered a little bit of a good thing is the first round. If you're still with me being last means you sit & sit & sit & then you pick & then you sit & sit some more & then pick. It makes for a boring draft. Oh, there actually is another time when it's good to be 12. In the 15th round. That means you get the last pick of round 15 & the first pick of round 16 & then you're done. At that point you get to eat. Not that we didn't eat before & during! There was some really good food. We had pizza, wings, dips, chips & cookies.
How did we fare in the draft you ask? Well, we think so-so. On paper we have a decent QB, Philip Rivers. We'll just have to wait & see. We did decide to forgo the "No Thugs" rule that we put in place last year. We're sticking with the name though. There was some debate about what a thug actually is. Yes, a guy that has 6 kids with 8 different women isn't exactly high in the moral fiber area but he's not a thug. Same goes for the players that accidentally shoot themselves. I say thug because you have a gun on you in a nightclub but then again you didn't shoot anyone but yourself. See the dilemma? We'll see how the season plays out. Wendy & I really want to win so we can shut up some of those men that think we don't have a clue.
He thought he was something else. He climbed up here all by himself. Of course his daddy was right there. Logan is a little daredevil. What I didn't get in the picture is when he got to the top he let go & put both hands in the air. I see a lot of emergency room visits in his future!
Sadly, when we got home & plugged the modem back in the internet was still not working. I had to call AT&T. Of course I was connected to someone in India or Saudi Arabia or somewhere. Luckily, this guy spoke pretty decent English. It was just like when I have a computer problem at work & we call the IT guys. They say reboot & think that should solve all problems. Needless to say after a 30 minute phone call he's sending us a new modem. Hopefully, that is the problem. It should be delivered via UPS today.
Due to the fact that I stayed up too late Sunday night watching Swamp People, I couldn't stay up to watch the Housewives of New Jersey Reunion Show. I knew that I needed to watch it this morning because all my peeps would want to discuss & they talk about it on the radio. I wonder what it says about me that I put my hair in a ponytail so that I'd have time to watch before work this morning?? Did anyone else watch??? Danielle is INSANE! I can't wait until next week!!! I wish they'd just put the shows on back to back nights. All this waiting a week is crazy nuts!
So I guess that pretty much catches me up on what's been going on. Not too much excitement.

This is the draft board.
We're fancy huh?? Don't be too impressed, the board kept falling off the wall.
Andrea was Vanna. She was in charge of putting all picks on the board. She did a fabulous job & of course she had running commentary which was absolutely hilarious!! Remember, she is the FUNNIEST person I know!
Here's Andrea & her fiance Andrew. They've joined our league for the first time.
When I got home Saturday night Dean informed me that the internet wasn't working. The power went out for just a minute & when it came back on it wasn't working. This isn't an end of the world type problem because I do have my iPhone. Dean unplugged the modem & we were just going to see if it would start working again. We went back to Central Sunday to paint. We were also able to visit with Logan again.

It's Over
I can't believe it's 2010. When I was a freshman in high school there was a teen club in Baton Rouge called 2010. We used to think that was so funny because it was such a long time away. It's really weird that it's here.
I'm not making any resolutions this year. It's just something I fail at every year. I'm just going to try & be a better person & stop stressing out over things that I have no control over.
We went to our subd. progressive dinner on New Years Eve like we normally do. We had a lot of fun! I actually made it to midnight which is something that rarely happens! I then proceeded to sleep for 10 hours thanks to the Actifed I took before bed. On New Years Day LSU played in the Capital One Bowl. That was one ugly game. From the weather, the condition of the field to the actual play of the teams. Penn State won. I think the only time I got off of the sofa was to get something to eat & drink & to go to the bathroom. I don't know if I have a cold or sinus infection or what but I've felt bad for a week.
Christmas is officially over at our house. Saturday, Vicki & Lane came over so that we could exchange presents. Lane gave his paran & I a gift certificate to Mike Anderson's which is our favorite place to eat! We went & had lunch at Brewbachers & then came home & hung out awhile.

Dean & I went to Mass Saturday afternoon & then had dinner at Casa Maria with our friends, The Abadie's. Heather & Jacob opened their presents & posed for a picture.

Today, we took the Christmas tree & all the deocrations down. I miss not having my tree to look at.
I just saw on the news that the weather is going to be horrible all week. Like highs in the 40's at best which is one of the worst things I can think of. The thought of it makes me cold. It's times like this I wish I didn't have to get up early & go to work. Who am I kidding, this is one of the MANY times I wish I didn't have to get up early & go to work!! I'll never get well at this rate. I just have to keep thinking that 2 weeks from this moment I'll be on a cruise ship leaving New Orleans for sunny, warmer weather!!!!

Stick A Fork In Us
No Thugs is done! It's official. After starting the season with a bang our inexperience & ineptness kicked in & we lost 5 in a row. It wasn't good. Most of the games weren't even close. Just when I thought I knew what I was doing I find out that the lineups can be changed at the last minute as long as who you're changing hasn't played. Apparently, EVERYONE knew this but me. If Sean Peyton hadn't benched Carney, I still wouldn't know. So needless to say we didn't make the playoffs. Looking on the bright side though, we didn't come in completely last. That's something right??
Today is a sunny day. Finally! Seriously, I think it's rained at my house for like 2 weeks straight. Not to say that I haven't enjoyed the rain, at least at night, because sleeping while it storms is great! BUT raining on the way to work & having to deal with the traffic & an umbrella & trying to keep my hair from getting messed up isn't fun. A lot of that rain was wasted too. I haven't been getting in any naps on the weekends so I wasted some great sleeping weather. Of course today isn't a perfect weather day either. It's soooo windy. I didn't know about the hurricane or I would've put my hair in a ponytail. I had to run out at lunch & pick up yet another Christmas gift. I'm finished now. Aside from my hair needing to be cut & the wind I'm currently sporting my sunglasses as a hair accessory! It's a good thing I got the whole hair appointment thing worked out (I had an appt., then it was rescheduled, then I was going to cancel but it was rescheduled for when I needed it so now I'm going Friday morning). I'm not sure if I could take much more of this. While I was at the mall I looked around for something to wear to the Christmas party we're going to Friday night. I found nothing! Now, I have things I could wear but I wanted something new & sparkly & Christmasy. I didn't think that was too much to ask. What I discovered is that apparently the economy is not in bad enough shape to have the $90 tops on sale. That's all I could find & I haven't completely lost my mind yet. I have a couple of things to wear if it's not freezing cold. I'll just have to see what it's like tomorrow night.
On my way home from work I got my nails done. I guess if I don't have anything good to wear to the party at least my hands will look good. I would love for this to be a really relaxing experience but I spend the whole time stressing out over what the people are saying to me. I THINK I got a free set of gel nails instead of the regular ones as long as I promised to come back for my refill. This place is fairly new. I've never been there before but it's on my way home from work. I liked it a lot because the guy that did my nails & the chick doing the pedicures didn't really talk to each other so I didn't have to listen to their language (which isn't a pretty language at all, I'm just saying) or worry that they were talking about me. He even gave me coupons when I left. I think he recognized that I wasn't a regular like the other people that were there. I don't really care about the reason I'm just happy to have a coupon for my refill!!!!!

I love the way they look! Maybe I'll make this a regular thing.
