Easter Fun

For the first time in the 17 years that I've worked at The Advocate I had Good Friday off. We had a great weekend & I ate great too. I don't mean I ate great food for me. I mean I ate great tasting food that is incredibly bad for me. May I present evidence #1
As a kid Gold Brick eggs were my favorite!! I picked up some stuff for Logan & the candy was 75% off BEFORE Easter & we all know I'm not one to pass up a good deal. Included in that good deal was a "white bunny". I haven't had one in YEARS. Like probably 20. I bought myself one & I had good intentions. According to the nutrition label the bunny was 5 servings. I already had the servings divided in my head. Then I started eating. I don't remember exactly but I think it only lasted 2 servings. Dean had a couple of bites.

The main thing I wanted to do Friday was to eat lunch at Roberto's. You know "Home of the best shrimp po-boy EVER EVER EVER"?? It lived up to the billing once again.

Awhile back I saw a post on FB about Zaycon Foods. They sell organic meat at really cheap prices. They would be in Baton Rouge on Good Friday selling boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $1.79/lb. That's cheaper than plain old hormone injected chicken when it's on sale here! How it works is you place your order online & they're in your city for one day for a couple of hours & that's when you pick up the chicken. It comes in 40 lb. cases. Me being the domesticated person that I am was all over this. Little did I know how much 40 lbs. was. So Friday afternoon Dean & I sat in a Church parking lot in downtown Baton Rouge & picked up our chicken. It was all very organized. A refrigerated truck parks, they set out orange cones to make a "drive through". They look up your name on the iPad & then load your chicken in your car. The man with the iPad said we were going to cry when we eat this chicken it's so good. I can't imagine that but ok. This is what the case looked like.
They even put plastic down in your car in case the box leaked.
It was in several bags inside the case. We got our handy dandy vacuum sealer out & went to town.
This was my biggest issue. I don't like to touch raw meat. I held the bags open & Dean put the chicken in & then I sealed them. I did get some chicken juice on me & that's just soooo gross. BLECH!!!
Our handiwork.

Once all the chicken was taken care of I went for a run. In case you didn't know, a fried shrimp po-boy & french fries is NOT proper pre-run fuel. I was so sluggish & blah. It was a tough 3.5 miles but I did it. I had some soreness going on so I decided that an ice bath would probably help a lot but since I didn't have any bags of ice lying around & really that's a lot of trouble I'd just get in the pool. The water is COLD so it would be like an ice bath right?
It was cold. Not quite as cold as I was expecting though.

Everyone will be happy to know that before we picked up our chicken we picked up these
Maybe my bad luck with the postal service is a thing of the past. On my way home from work Varsity Sports called to let me know my shoes were in. I'm sure I've whined about the blue before. I have to get a narrow shoe & Brooks only makes the narrow in one color. It just so happens that for the last 3 years they're ALWAYS blue. Different shades of blue but blue nonetheless. Have I ever mentioned that I'm not a big blue fan? Well I'm not. I do like this blue better than the previous blues. I even tweeted Brooks that I need a different color. They assured me they'd pass along my comments to the development dept. so next year if they aren't blue I'm to thank!

Saturday we were up bright & early. We were going to an Easter egg hunt with my family. It's a huge thing with inflatables & food. My parents Church sponsors it & everything is free.
Before we left for the egg hunt Logan opened his Easter gift from us. We got him a beach towel & a chair. We're going to the beach next month. He was happier about the candy.
There was someone selling bunnies. I'm guessing the Church didn't give them permission to do that but the kids enjoyed holding the little babies. I saw zero sales taking place. Apparently, everyone had the same idea as my brother, "DO NOT EVEN ASK" was his response when he saw they were being sold.
Logan was ready to get his eggs! There were 50,000 eggs at the egg "hunt". Each baseball field was divided up by age so there wasn't big kids running over little kids.

After the egg hunt we had lunch at a pizza buffet & it was sooo good. Told ya I ate a bunch of not good for me food. Pizza that taste like cinnamon rolls??? Yes please! Logan is almost 4 & it's so funny to listen to him participate in our conversations. He was very excited about the chocolate pizza. He's hilarious!

Sunday we went to early Mass & to Dean's parents for lunch. Everything was delicious & I ate way too much. There was roast, ham, potato salad, cole slaw & cake. My mom made my favorite coconut cake. Soooo good.
If all that food wasn't bad enough I ended the day with these. sigh.

Happy Easter!

We had a great weekend. I hope everyone else did too. I was one of the few people that actually had to work Friday. To reward myself for that I stopped & got my nails done on the way home. HAHA!! That place was packed. We didn't do anything Friday night but stay home & listen to the LSU game. What a waste of 3 hours. They lost AGAIN.

Saturday morning Allison, Wendy, Emily & I went & walked the lakes again.
Isn't Emily adorable? I just love her pink jellies!! She just chilled during the walk & snacked on puffs & yogurt bites. Once our walk was over I headed to Walmart. I RARELY shop at Super Walmart but I had a big list & it was easier. Surprisingly, it wasn't as packed as I expected. The one thing that was on the top of my list & the most important purchase was sold out. CADBURY EGGS!! I gave up sweets for Lent. I didn't buy any before because I didn't want to tempt myself. Besides, I usually stock up after Easter when it's all marked down. They had the caramel eggs & nothing against caramel, I happen to really like it, it's not the same as regular Cadbury eggs. I did end Lent with a cheeseburger & chocolate shake from Sonic. It was SOOOOO GOOD!!!

I then spent several  hours in the pool. I floated & read & floated & napped. It was delightful. For some absurd reason I decided to get out of the pool & go inside to watch the LSU Baseball game. They lost AGAIN. 3 more hours that I'll never get back. Then Dean & I got in the pool & the neighbors came over.

Dean & I went to Mass Easter Sunday & then came home to start getting everything ready. My parents, Dean's parents, Dean's mawmaw, my brother Scott, his wife, Lydia & Logan were coming over. We spent the day in the backyard.
I took this picture before everyone got there. When Logan got there all the noodles went into the pool. He had so much fun!
We brought him to my neighbors for an Easter egg hunt & he wouldn't take his floaties off. I guess he knew, no floaties, no pool.
My parents got him this little chair. He doesn't sit often but I think he liked that it was his size. He's very excited in this picture because he found a leaf floating by. It was so little I'm not sure how he even saw it.
Dean & Logan chilling. All the swimming made Logan thirsty. Apparently, the flies were bothering Dean. I didn't notice the fly swatter until I saw this picture. They were listening/watching the LSU game. I learned from the previous 2 days that it wasn't worth getting out the pool to watch. They lost AGAIN.

This morning on my way to work I stopped at CVS to get my Cadbury Eggs. I only wanted 1 pack. I'm  not going overboard. As of last Wed. I've lost 12 lbs. I don't want to undo that. Well, no need to worry, there wasn't the first Cadbury Egg in the store. I was about to cry.

I have a Gilda!!!!

I don't usually go this long between posts. Things have been a little busy.  Saturday, we spent the majority of the day at Scott & Lydia's playing with Logan. We brought his Easter presents to him. He loved the ribbon & he likes ripping the paper open because it makes noise.

I think this picture is so funny! I know it's a little blurry but I just think it's cute the way he's squatting. We got him his very own float for the pool. He can sit in it & float around & it has a little canopy over him to protect him from the sun. I can't wait to put him in it!

This was his little basket I did for him. I just put a few books in it & a couple of balls for the pool that are the perfect size for his hands.

My parents came over too & brought Logan his Easter presents. He LOVED his little lawnmower. It makes noise & is really cute! He pushed it all over the place. Baxter bet watch out!!! His Nona & Pops (my parents) also gave him the cute little LSU outfit. With those shorts he looks like a real basketball player!

This one is just because I think he's so cute & it's hard for the camera to catch him smiling!

I think this picture is soooo cute too! He's watching the garbage truck!!

When we left Logan, we went to the LSU game. It was hot! No, I'm not complaining, I just wasn't really prepared. I had to wear closed toe shoes because I hadn't polished my toenails. The flip flop weather took me by surprise.

Easter Sunday we went to Mass & then spent the afternoon at the LSU game. Once again it was hot. I was more prepared though. I did my toes before the game & I wore shorts. One of my friends from high school was in town from Dallas & she was at the game so we were able to visit. We haven't seen each other in something like 18 years but we've been talking on Facebook. Don't you just love Facebook?

Other exciting news of the day is WE HAVE SOMEONE TO CLEAN OUR HOUSE & IT ISN'T ME!!!!!  It's Gilda. Wooo Hooooo!!!!! I'm sooooooo excited. Can you tell?? I've always said that we could just clean our own house because it's just the two of us but the house is big & it takes a long time to clean it. I've tried the clean a little everyday thing but I feel like it's never all clean at the same time. Not to mention that when I get home from work the last thing I want to do is clean house. Then on the weekends something fun comes up & the house gets neglected. I got Gilda's name from a friend. She cleans several houses in my subd. & they're all very pleased with her. She comes for the first time Friday. I can hardly contain myself I'm so excited!!!!! I hope she does a good job!!! Dean said that being that this will free up some of my time I can pull weeds while he cuts the grass. At least with that  I can pull a few & get in the pool & then pull a few more & get back in the pool!

Met Monday

A few weeks ago I made some Easter/Spring Wreaths for cousins/friends Cassie & Leslie. I  forgot to take before pictures but I just used the olive branch wreaths & silk flowers & things I found at Hobby Lobby. The colors didn't show up very good in the pictures but you get the general idea.

This is Cassie's wreath. It's all pinks & greens & I used 2 different types of ribbons to make the bow. I fixed the Easter eggs so that they can be taken out of the wreath after Easter to make it a spring wreath. It doesn't show up to well but I have some cute little green butterflies attached as well.

This is Leslie's wreath. It's  done in yellow & green. I also used 2 types of ribbon to make the bow.
