Christmas Wreaths

I've been  a wreath making machine!! I wanted to be through with all of them by this time but tendinitis delayed me. I just started with plain green wreaths, rolls of ribbon, shatterproof ornaments & about a million picks from Hob Lob!
This is for my friend Allison. She's a little wild & crazy & she let me go with a not so traditional color scheme.
I think it totally fits Allison's personality. I thought I may have gotten  a little carried away but she claims to love it! I know it looks funny across the bottom but that's just because it's sitting on the floor & the bottom is smushed. I like to use 2 different ribbons to make the bows but I couldn't find a lime green ribbon that I liked so I just used 2 different silver ones.

This one is for my friend at work Stan & his wife Renee. They're hosting our dept. Christmas party this year & are getting the house all decorated.
I have to make another one like this because they have double front doors. It's the last one I have to make & I hope to get it done tonight. One whole room in my house is a total mess because all the stuff for the wreaths is spread out all over the floor.

This one is for my friend Vicki.
She liked the monogram I did for one of the fall wreaths so I added it to this one. I just bought the particle board type letter at Hob Lob & I painted it white & then added silver & red glitter glue. I see now after I took the picture that I need to fix the bow but you get the idea.

This one is for Wendy. Her & Vicki both chose silver & red. I did different things with each of them so they wouldn't look exactly alike.
Another smushed bottom. It just occurred to me that I could've hung them on a bedroom door with a wreath hanger & taken a better picture. Too late now. Anyway, you get the point.

I also made one for my mom but the picture I took is on Dean's phone. She already has hers hanging on her front door. It was done in red & gold.

I'm linking up with Susan at Between Naps On The Porch for Metamorphosis Monday. She always has tons of  good stuff to look at on her blog!

Another Met Monday

I made another fall wreath. My friend Wendy decided that she wanted one. I made a quick Hob Lob run Saturday morning & was still able to get some things. The selection of fall floral stuff & picks was really small. They just didn't have a lot left but I think I was able to find some cute things.

I used a grapevine wreath & a fall swag. Then I added a few picks & flowers & made the bow. The fall ribbon was scarce but I managed to find one that I liked. Normally, I like to use two different types of ribbon for the bow but I only found one that was the size I like to work with so I just used it & made a big bow.

I also bought some things to start on Christmas wreaths that I'm making for my mom & some friends.

Met Monday

I've been working on fall wreaths for the last week. I was making 2 for my front doors & one for my friend Vicki. (Hey Vicki!!). Why has it taken a week?? Because it's still in the 90's here & doesn't feel the least bit like fall! I started out with this.
I worked on Vicki's during the LSU game last week. This is the final product.
The bow doesn't look very good in this picture. These are the ones I did for my doors. In fact these aren't very good pictures at all. Oh well. You get the idea.

I bought just about everything from Michael's. I'm usually a Hob Lob girl but I didn't find that they had as much stuff as usual. I really love the ribbon I used. I bought 2 different ones & mixed them together.  Here's a close up.
The orange ribbon is iridescent so it shimmers & looks different shades of orange. I didn't hang them yet because I forgot to buy wreath hangers. That's added to my to do list, along with decorating the rest of the house for fall. It's supposed to be cooler this week, meaning in the 80's instead of the 90's so hopefully I'll get into a fall frame of mind!

Master Bathroom Redo

Finally!  I call this "Phase I". "Phase II" consist of me painting the cabinets. I hope that will happen in the next few months but who knows.

Here's a before picture. The door goes into our bedroom. It's a pocket door & I LOVE that! The paint is green. Kinda hard to tell in the pictures.

This is the bathroom from the door of our bedroom. Excuse all the stuff everywhere but I didn't remember to take the pictures until I had all my painting supplies out. Yes, that light fixture at the far end of the bathroom only has 2 globes as opposed to the 3 spots. The little plastic piece that holds the globe on cracked so we took it down before it fell. I'm sure that would've been during the middle of the night & scared us half to death because you know that's the only time stuff like that happens.

The window above my tub

Another view from the far end of the room.

This is a piece that my sis-in-law, Beth made & gave to us as a wedding gift. It's hard to see in the picture but it's really pretty in person.

Now the after.....

I painted the walls, put up new lights, spray painted all of the accessories (towel rings, bars, chair, etc.) & recovered the chair.  You can't really see the paint color all that well.

Here's a closeup of the lights.

I LOVE THEM!! I ordered them from CSN.

This is a better picture of the wall color. It's called Wooden Swing by Behr. I spray painted the Fleur de Lis oil rubbed bronze & then went over it in spots with Antique Gold craft paint.

I think the chair turned out really good. This was the first thing I've ever reupholstered. Dean helped me & it didn't take any time at all, once we got a staple gun.

The fabric has a lot of dark brown in it. I bought it at Hobby Lobby on sale. Here's my window over the tub. The curtains look so good with the new wall color.

Monday's Suck

Of course having an awful Monday is better than the alternative but it's hard to remember that when you have a day like I have. I hate having bad days & I hate complaining about it because I know I'm a very lucky, blessed person that lives a wonderful life. BUT today wasn't good. I've been sniffing, sneezing & coughing all day. My eyes are all watery & I'll be passing out soon because I took a Benadryl. Everything is getting a little blurry already.  It seems like I just got over this. I'm sick of being sick. It probably has something to do with this weather. I'm not going to bore you by posting about how much I hate cold weather. We've been there, done that. I'm not going to talk about how yesterday morning when we left for Mass at 6:30 the temperature was at least 30 degrees colder than it was at 10:30 Saturday night when we got home or how the wind was blowing approximately 50 mph & chilled you to the bone. Luckily, this afternoon it was a balmy 70 degrees when I left work. Supposedly, the cold weather should be gone.  I'll believe it when I see it. To think I was considering a pedicure Saturday since it looked like it was flip flop weather. Oh flip flops how I love thee!!! I have 2 really cute new pair too.

Back to the bad day. 5 people were laid off today. While I wasn't affected it's still scary & sad. I hate to see people lose their jobs & as much as I complain about working I don't want to lose mine. Not because I'm one of those people that just loves my job but because the thought of looking for another job makes me sick to my stomach. I have some great friends at work too that I would miss.

So finally the work day was over. Yay, I could go home. Apparently, there are lots of people driving around town that don't feel the same way I do & they don't want to get home as fast as humanly possible. Yes, I'm talking about you, guy in the little SUV like car that sat through a green light waiting to make a left turn when there was NOBODY anywhere near you but waited for the green arrow. I'm sure the look he gave me in his side mirror was to show me he was boss & not moving if he didn't want to. You know what? I don't care, I blew my horn 'cause that's how I roll!!!

Then there's the school zone. I don't know who is in charge of setting the school zone lights but they're not doing a very good job. Everybody knew when the time was changing so why is it at 4:45 in the afternoon, the lights are blinking when the sign clearly says the school zone ends at 4:00? What's even more frustrating is that going the opposite direction they fixed the sign the other day.

When I got home I found yet another piece of mail from the federal government. This time it's a post card. Any idea what it said??? It said that I should've received my census paperwork in the mail a few days ago & to please fill it out & mail it back otherwise I'd be arrested. This brought me to question just how serious they are about enforcing the arrest thing. Filling out the form is no big deal but I'm curious. I suggested to Dean that we not fill it out & just see if they will actually come arrest us. I really don't think they will. If they do then once we're bailed out or whatever we can go on Sean Hannity's show & talk about how ridiculous it is when all the riff raff is running around breaking the law killing people & such, the feds are arresting us for not answering a few questions. Dean quickly squashed this idea.

So while all of this isn't really, really horrible & I know there are people out there much worse off than me,, it is a bad day for me & I'm glad I'm home!!

Met Monday

A few weeks ago I made some Easter/Spring Wreaths for cousins/friends Cassie & Leslie. I  forgot to take before pictures but I just used the olive branch wreaths & silk flowers & things I found at Hobby Lobby. The colors didn't show up very good in the pictures but you get the general idea.

This is Cassie's wreath. It's all pinks & greens & I used 2 different types of ribbons to make the bow. I fixed the Easter eggs so that they can be taken out of the wreath after Easter to make it a spring wreath. It doesn't show up to well but I have some cute little green butterflies attached as well.

This is Leslie's wreath. It's  done in yellow & green. I also used 2 types of ribbon to make the bow.
