I've never been to a cookie exchange. I'm sure that's weird for some of you. Allison invited me to the one she was having for her son Cael. It was like something you'd see on Pinterest.
The kiddos getting their instructions for the craft portion of the party.
These were the cookies I made. Not pretty but edible. They're super easy to make. Although, I did mess them up. Only me right? The recipe calls for 1 egg, 1 cube of butter (from what Google says a cube equals an oz. I used more because that just didn't seem like enough), 8 oz. cream cheese & a yellow cake mix. Mix it all together & bake. Easy peasy right?? Well, I needed to make 3 dozen cookies so my plan was to mix 2 of everything together & see how many cookies I came up with. Once I had a dozen baked & more in the oven I realized that I used 2 of everything EXCEPT cake mix. Well, it was too late. It wasn't a major issue, they just tasted more like cream cheese.
Cael & Bayleigh making their Christmas trees.
Little Preston was really concentrating. It was so cute!
There was even something for the adults. YUM! Excuse the big black spoon in the pic. I didn't even realize it was there.
Champagne, ginger ale & strawberries! YUM! We learned that while the candy canes look great in the glass, it's best to take them out to actually drink. When I took mine out we discovered that the ginger ale apparently ate through the candy cane. Kind of disturbing. Like the whole pouring Coke on your battery to remove corrosion. Not to change the subject but Allison's sis Andrea said that she uses Coke to clean her toilets! I'm glad I don't drink very much of that stuff anymore.
Sunday was lunch at Ninfa's with the girls for Vicki's birthday. The food was delish & we did a lot of laughing. How was y'alls weekend?
Toodles!
The cookie exchange looks like it was a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a cookie exchange, but we use to have cookie decorating parties every year at christmas when the niece was younger. All of the little kids would decorate cookies and I would have Christmas tins for them to put them in to take home to their families, and santa. Oh, how I miss those days.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a cookie exchange party. It looks really fun....Christine
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun. I hosted cookie exchanges for many years...we had such fun. Now, I leave for Christmas and I just can't fit it all in, but it sure was nice coming home with all those cookies!
ReplyDeleteI always loved cookie exchanges and hosted many when I was younger. It's so much fun getting to sample a wonderful assortment of goodies. I haven't done it in years, and there will be very little baking going on this year as I am on a low-carb diet and not eating ANY sugar. It's kind of a bummer because I do love to bake; but the diet is working beautifully, and I feel so much better.
ReplyDeleteCookies make me happy...I'm doing most of my holiday baking on Sunday. =)
ReplyDeleteLooks fun - I've never been to one!
ReplyDeleteUm, your baking sounds like my baking. I never get it exactly right.
I have been struggling with Coke lately. I cut it out years ago except for the occasional one. Some how I have gotten back to drinking one a day. Well, actually I know how. When I cut back on coffee, I picked up coke - AGH! I have actually been reminding myself about the battery thing lately to try to turn myself OFF again. Plus, my Mother saw something that said even one a day was terrible. for your health. SIGH
