Ready for the weekend.

Yeh, I'm well aware that it's Monday & I just had a long weekend but next weekend is a 4 day weekend. We're going to Dallas for the LSU/Oregon game & I'm ready to go. We're staying at the team hotel & I discovered this weekend that there's a Starbucks inside the hotel!! I'm very excited that I can have green tea whenever I want!

Speaking of green tea. I really wanted one this morning but I didn't have time. When I got to work I realized that I forgot my tortilla that I use to make a wrap for lunch. I guess I'll be having Subway. I hate when I do stuff like that.

Friday, Dean & I were both off. I'd finished Week 2 of the C25K on Wednesday but I decided to do another day Friday morning. I wasn't sure if I was ready for the 3 minute runs that come with Week 3. Afterwards, we ran errands & had lunch at Roly Poly. I love that place. They have about a million different types of wraps & every one I've tried is delicious!

Friday night we went to our neighbors for pizza & wine. They all wanted to hear about Dean's Alaska trip. We always have such a good time when we get together. Yes, I ate too much pizza. I LOVE PIZZA!! Then there was this......

I know this is an awful picture but you get the idea. It's Key Lime Strawberry cake with coconut all around the sides. It was DIVINE!!! I got this little treat at Sam's.

Saturday morning Dean & I went to the Zoo & watched Logan while Lydia ran the 5K they hosted. Logan was being shy when they got there.

Logan is so funny. He tells all the animals hey & bye. When he saw the runners go by he joined them. That kid is fast! He picked up the cups that the runners threw on the ground at the water stop & put them in the recycle bins. Thankfully, about that time we made it to the playground & he played & played. He had his little 9 year old friend, Maddie, with him & it was a day of monkey see, monkey do.

After the zoo we spent the day in our pool. Logan wore himself out.

He was about to fall asleep standing up.

Dean grilled some of the salmon he caught in Alaska Sat. night & some of our neighbors came over & ate. It was really good.

Yesterday, after Mass we went to Louie's for breakfast. Louie's is a local hole in the wall type place that's basically on LSU's campus. I had a veggie omelet with salsa & it was soooo good!!!

Last night I went with a couple of friends that live in our subdivision & we did day 1 of week 3 of C25K. I was soooo excited when I finished because I was able to do the 3 minute runs. Cindy even talked us into doing an extra 3 minutes & I did it. This was the first run that I didn't have any shin pain. Maybe I'm getting used to it.

The Evil Genius

Saturday morning Allison, Cael & my mom came to swim. It was really hot & the water was soooo great!  It was actually a little chilly when we first got in. That's unbelievable being that it hasn't been cooler than 97 this week. Cael had a great time!

I don't know how many times he jumped off the side. Sometimes with floaties, sometimes without. He wanted us to catch him. After the first few times of that we figured out to back up when he jumped so we wouldn't be injured! He'd go under, come up & say "I don't want to go under" & then do it all again. It was hilarious!!! Unfortunately, we didn't figure things out soon enough & I have a bruise that's a lovely shade of purple on my stomach & my arms are killing me from all of the catching!

Finally, he let us take a break & he played with Dean. They took turns throwing the diving sticks & going to get them. Here's Cael giving Dean instructions.

Cael was worn out. When we got out of the pool he asked us for a "soft place to sleep"!!!

Last night Wendy hosted "The worst book club ever". We certainly didn't do anything to dispel this name. At one point we were all playing Words With Friends with each other on our iPhones. We pretty much laugh & eat the entire time. It's sooo much fun!!!When Brea said that we're "kind of unconventional. We all read what we want & talk about everything besides what we've read!!" she nailed it. Last night we spent a lot of time talking about Andrea's unconventional engagement, something called "Uncrustables" that I'd never heard of & the "Evil Genius" that is Andrea. Notice a pattern here? Andrea is right in the middle of it all! I can honestly say she's the funniest person I know. This was Allison's reaction to something Andrea said.

She's going to KILL me for posting this picture BUT it'll be worth it. It's a fantastic picture!

Outdoor Wednesday

Saturday morning Dean bought 2 new palm trees. These are to replace some that died. When I say died, I mean murdered by the ridiculously cold winter we had. Seriously, since when does it get cold enough in Baton Rouge to kill palm trees???

We bought a Queen Palm & a Windmill Palm. We have a Windmill that did fine in the weather. You can see it to the left of the picture above. I really like the look of it but it's not as tall as I want.

This is the new Windmill. I'll be transplanting those iris's to my mom's new yard when they move in. The palm will show up better then.

This is the Queen Palm. I hope it lives. I just love how it looks. You can see in the middle of the picture the little stump thingy from one that died. We're not convinced it's dead, there was still a little green so we decided to just leave it & see what happens.

It was cloudy Saturday thank goodness because it was still really, really hot. It would've been awful if the sun would've been out. While Dean dug the holes & planted the palms I pulled weeds. I did about half the backyard & then got in the pool & cooled off. This is the pool cooling contraption Dean made. You can also see the new palm.
I know it's not pretty but it works! It's amazing what you can do with PVC pipe & a noodle! If people come over we take it out. The pool was a perfect 88 degrees!

We have a big ditch thing behind our house & that's where we dump the weeds that we pull. When I went back there I saw this.
He was just hanging out, looking around.

I needed a new pot. I have a Begonia in a small one on my patio that apparently doesn't drain well & it's not doing very good. Since I didn't go with Dean to get the trees,  I asked him to just pick out a pretty one. Those of you that know me know I don't ever do things like this but I thought he could handle it. This is what he came home with.

I thought it was really pretty! I haven't repotted the Begonia yet. I was exhausted by the time I finished weeding. It never occurred to me when we did all that landscaping that someone was going to have to pull the weeds! Once we were both finished working we hung out in the pool awhile & then Dean grilled & I had a Pina Colada!

Looks good huh??

I'm linking to Outdoor Wednesday.

It's Almost Over

I'm so happy that tomorrow is Friday. I'm only working until 12:30 so that's a great thing. I have a few errands to run but other than that I don't have plans. I may do a little shopping. It should be lovely.

Our niece & nephew are in town from Houston. They came swimming Tuesday. I managed to get an action shot of Camille & Dean!

I was surprised at how much they've grown & changed since I saw them last.

Drew looks so old!

Camille's birthday was May 28th. I tried to get a good picture of her but this is the best we could do!! I didn't take a picture of her gift but I got her a cute swimsuit & beach towel with her name monogrammed on it. Dean's Godchild & cousin, Lexie came too.

Isn't she so pretty?? She's growing up. I can remember when she was a little girl & it doesn't seem that long ago.

On the McDreamy front, I found out he was having dinner at Sullivan's again last night. He's also been spotted at Ninfa's. I've heard a rumor as to where he's living while he's here but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

I'm very excited about the Housewives of NY reunion show tonight. These shows are always wild. At some point everyone ends up yelling at everyone else. The NY ladies yell at each other so much during the season I can't imagine what this is going to be like. What's even better? It's coming on at 8:00 so I can watch it live without it interfering with my bedtime. That means I'll be able to discuss with Allison & Wendy tomorrow. YAY!!!

Christmas - Part II

Saturday morning Dean & I went to Bayou Pigeon to Dean's cousin Deborah's house. All the cousins were there & as usual, a ton of delicious food! I thought Sam's Mrs. Claus outfit was sooo cute.

Emma wasn't feeling good & had just woken up from her nap in the car.

We played a rousing game of hot potato!! This is Cody with his mawmaw Deb.

Sam was just chillin'!

Santa even made an appearance!!

We had a lot of fun & everyone got good presents! This is Dean's Godchild Lexie with her Coach purse.

Dean has about a million ice chests but he doesn't have one like this!

It's for the pool! The ice chest is in the middle & all around it are cupholders! This will get a lot of use if it ever warms up & stops raining!!!

Sunday the only thing I did was clean out the pantry & cabinets in the kitchen. I had quite a pile of stuff to donate.

Yesterday, Mrs. Joyce & Mr. Andrew came over with our niece & nephew, Camille & Drew so we could give them their Christmas presents.

It was very difficult to get everyone to cooperate for this picture. I'm glad it came out the first time!

We still have a couple of gifts to deliver but for the most part Christmas is over. I plan to take down all of my decorations & trees this weekend. I'm going to miss not having my big tree to look at.

Til next time....
