Unbelievable!

This weekend was filled with baseball & a little food! Saturday morning was flash mob practice & Saturday afternoon Dean boiled crawfish for our friends son's birthday party. This was the first crawfish I've eaten this season & they were really good.
Not the greatest picture but you get the idea. My favorite part was the mushrooms. YUM!!! Myles isn't a big cake person so he requested banana pudding. Our other friend Jackie made it.
She doubled her recipe. It was soooo good!!

After the party we went to the LSU game. That's also how we spent Sunday afternoon.
This was Sunday at the ballgame. This would also be why there haven't been working out posts. I had some soreness after going to Yoglates a week ago Thurs. I didn't work out at all last weekend & by Tuesday morning it was feeling good so I went to Yoglates. That proved to be a mistake. By the time I got to work Tuesday my ankle was bothering me & it hasn't stopped since. It's not horrible pain & it only hurts when I walk. Saturday morning while everyone else was practicing for the flash mob I was in a booth watching. My trainer (he's our friend & used to be an athletic trainer with the Atlanta Falcons so I refer to him as "my trainer") assessed it & diagnosed me with tendinitis. It's tendon that runs from the bottom of your foot along the side close to the big bone you have on the inside of your ankle. The big bone & right above it are where it's really sore. He told me to take ibuprofen, ice it, rest & wrap it some. It's a little swollen too. I suspected it was from doing too many lunges & when I mentioned that to Matt he agreed & then when I told him we did a lot of "back lunges" (I don't know the proper term) he immediately said that's what did it. I knew I hated those things for a reason.

There's been a lot of this
and this
going on. When I'm at home I'm trying to elevate it a lot & the best way to do that is to rest it on the back of the sofa. That's what's going on in the above pic. My toes are really, really long. I guess they're like my freakishly long arms.

So that's what's been going on around here. It's annoying because I'd made so much progress with my running & now this. I'm really hoping this isn't another 3 month injury like my hip.

Crawfish!

I can't believe it's Monday again. I'm really tired today. I had some sleep issues this weekend. I'll be pretty close to dead by 2:00.

Dean & I went to the LSU game Friday night. They won but it was pretty boring. They played Kentucky & they're REALLY bad.

Saturday morning was the neighborhood crawfish boil. Dean & the guys went to pick up the crawfish & I went to walk the lakes with Allison, Wendy & Jill. It was a great day to walk because it was really windy & the sun wasn't out so we didn't get especially hot. Then it was home to get cleaned up, then down the street to the crawfish boil. This pot was their home before they went into the boiling water.
The kids love to play with them before they meet their maker.
Stafford is such a little girlie girl I was shocked that she was playing with them.
Everyone really enjoyed the crawfish. This was the first time this season I had any. I think I ate about 10. I like them but it's such a pain to peel them & my fingernails get stained & they don't fill me up. I just don't like to work that hard for food. I really enjoyed the broccoli salad that someone brought though! Wendy is shaking her head while reading this....
Notice the expression on Amelia-Ann's face? That would be because Dean is quizzing her about her boyfriend & the little boys that were knocking on her door while he cut the grass Friday. She's in for a long dating life once she's old enough between her dad & Dean. I feel sorry for her.

See this contraption??
This would be where they put the crawfish when they rinse them before boiling them. Our friend Dennis, who's driveway was the boiling area, rigged this up Friday night. There's a drain in the wood. Then there's this...
This is Dennis' backyard. One end of the PVC pipe is connected to the table thingy where the guys were washing the crawfish & the other end drains into the ditch that runs along the back of the lot. Pretty smart huh??

I think we stayed out chatting with the neighbors until about 9:00 Saturday night. Have I mentioned that I love where we live because I love our neighbors so much??

Sunday, Allison & I walked the lakes again. We tacked on an extra 1/2 mi. so we walked 4 mi. After our walk we met Wendy at Jimmy Johns for lunch. Wendy had to work so she wasn't able to walk with us. This was our first time at Jimmy John's. It was good. I had a veggie & cheese sandwich without the bread. It was all wrapped up in iceberg lettuce. It was really good!

Last night we went down the street for dinner. Kitzia is Mexican & she's a wonderful cook! There were some crawfish that were boiled but not eaten so we peeled them & Kitzia took the meat & made Ceviche. I'd never had this but it was soooooo good.  It would be the perfect light lunch on a really hot day. It's a cold salad type thing that has crawfish, onion, lime juice, cilantro, tomatoes, green olives, avocado & olive oil. She said generally it's made with raw fish. Yuck. It would be great with shrimp or crab too.

That brings us back to today. Monday. BLECH!!

It's Friday Friday!

Has anyone else heard that stupid song?? It gets in your head & not in a good way. Everytime I hear someone say Friday I think of it. UGH! It's been a rather dull week. I guess in some ways that's good. Dull means nothing bad happened.

I done my 3 Yogalates classes this week. Monday I was really excited because the teacher has been cracking the back door & I managed to grab a spot right in front of it. SO AWESOME because of the fabulous breeze. For those of you that don't know, they like it to be around 90 degrees for these classes. Something about less risk of injury to your muscles. I'm waiting for the day someone passes out & I just hope it's not me! I have a fainting history but that's another story.  So Tuesday, I grabbed my spot again but it was only 86 in class so she didn't open the door. Bummer.  Yesterday, we had a fill in teacher. I had this chick for the first time last week. She's not my favorite. She talks A LOT. So much so that sometimes she loses count. Well, yesterday was "cooler" outside than it's been lately. It was in the low 80's I think. Inside it was only 84 so not only did she not crack the door, she TURNED THE HEAT ON! Throughout the workout she kept asking how everyone was doing & then telling us how great she felt.  I'm glad she's not the regular teacher.

I really wanted to take today off & get up early & watch all the Royal Wedding festivities but my co-worker was off & one of us needs to be in the office. I'm not having a good hair day due to the fact that I kept turning off the blow dryer to watch & hear what was going on. My hair dried kinda funky. Then I was almost late. Anyway, I thought Kate was gorgeous. I loved her dress & really loved Pippa's dress. I've been looking at all sorts of pics on the internet today.

Tonight, we'll be going to the LSU Baseball game. They've actually won twice this week. I wasn't at either game & I fully expect them to go back to their losing ways tonight. We'll see.

Tomorrow is our annual "Boil on the Bend". It's a neighborhood crawfish boil. We live in a big subdivision but we're in the very back & our street along with another street, Morgan Bend, meet in a cul de sac which is where the crawfish eating happens. Hence the name "Boil on the Bend".  This is just something that a few of the neighbors put together for our area of the subd. There's a space walk for the kids & lots of food. It's always a lot of fun. These will be my first crawfish of the season.

Allison, Wendy & I plan to walk the lakes in the morning too. On that note, I lost another 2 lbs. I weigh myself on Wednesdays. My thought is that I usually do really good during the week but we generally go out to eat at least once a weekend so if I mess up a little I have a couple of days to get back on track so I don't get discouraged when I get on the scale. So far so good.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Any fun plans?
