More Vacay

About 8:00 Saturday night it started pouring. We were hoping when we woke up it would be a pretty day. Yeh, well, that was wishful thinking. I woke up several times during the night & it was storming EVERY TIME. This was our view when we woke up.

Nice huh?? After breakfast we decided to go to the movies. The majority of the group wanted to see Harry Potter. The "little girls", as they were known all week, saw Zookeeper & Dean, Jackie & I saw Bad Teacher. It was really funny. I still haven't figured out what the woman was thinking that brought her son with her who looked to be 5 or 6. The movie was rated R for a reason. Crazy. After the movie it was back to the condo to watch the Championship game of the World Cup. I'm not the least bit interested in soccer but it was actually kind of exciting to watch. At least the last few minutes.

The rain finally stopped & Dean, Cliff & I went out to the beach with the "little girls" to catch crabs. I've never done this. Those things were everywhere. Some big & some teeny tiny.
Amelia-Ann & Dean on our way to the beach. I don't know what they were doing. Please ignore the fact that Dean's clothes don't match at all. I normally don't let him out of the house like that but since we were on vacation at the beach I thought it was ok. Not to mention the fact that he would've looked at me like I was crazy if I told him he had to change to go catch crabs.
I caught this one. He was big.
Monday we woke up to an absolutely gorgeous day. We spent the day on the beach. There was a lot of seaweed but we were just thrilled the sun was out. I don't get in the water. Maybe I'll get ankle dip but that's about it. Well, it's amazing what you do when two 12 yr. olds are begging. We bought those big inflatable inner tubes & rode the waves. I've never known of anyone to go to the beach & come home bruised. Everyday, I've found a new bruise. It's the most ridiculous thing ever. Those waves are rough when you're in a tube holding onto other tubes. It was SOOOO MUCH FUN though!

Amelia-Ann was worn out.

Tuesday, it was time to come home. Of course it was another gorgeous day & all the seaweed was gone. Oh well. On the way home we stopped in Ocean Springs, MS & ate at The Shed. It's been on the Food Network a ton of times.

It really does look just like a shed.

I'm not even a huge fan of BBQ but I really enjoyed my lunch. A pulled pork sandwich with slaw & a side of slaw & potato salad.

This is what it looked like inside. If you're in the area you should definitely stop!

We had a great trip & as usual it went by way too fast. I can't believe at this time last week I was on the beach!

Toodles!

  1. So nice to get away - rain or no rain. I remember a few years ago we went to Destin and it rained the WHOLE time - we never even hit the beach (WEIRD I know) but we still had fun! I have thought several times though that I should have walked out on the sand at least once. lol

  2. I dont know why... but I have always dreaded the "time to go catch crabs".-- They scare me to death. I never know if Im going to step on one, or one could come out and pinch my big toe.

Oh geez... my chest is tight just thinking about it. HA!

  7. Beach trips always go too fast. You were in my neck of the woods; I grew up on the Gulf Coast. May have to try The Shed next time I'm there :)
