Happy Halloween!!

When you're 37 years old, you shouldn't feel like I do the day after Halloween. Seriously. I didn't run wild from house to house or even indulge in a ridiculous amount of candy. I only had 1 tiny 3 Musketeers. I did however have 4 glasses of wine which apparently will cause a massive headache in the morning. I've taken 3 Advil & had a Dr. Pepper & I still feel like total crapola. Ugh. Not to mention I'm exhausted from all of the weekend activities!

Friday was my birthday. Dean & I had dinner at Mansurs on the Boulevard. SOOOOO good. We had the crab cakes for an appetizer. I'm on some sort of crab cake kick (say that 3 times fast) lately. LOVE THEM!! The lettuce wedge was one of the best I've had. Probably because it had lots of dressing with lots of blue cheese crumbles in it. For me the more dressing the better. Then for my entree I had the Shrimp Vacherie which is seafood stuffed shrimp that are fried & served with Creollaise (a sauce that was to die for) & rosotto. I really enjoyed it!

Saturday, I went with my mom & did some shopping. I didn't buy much but we went to a store in town that's going out of business & they had a ton of Christmas stuff. Everything was 50%. I picked up a few things but this place is really expensive for the most part so at 50% stuff was still pricey. We ate a late lunch at the Chimes. Yes, if you're a regular reader you know that we ate there Wed. night! I wanted a cheeseburger & theirs are really really good plus my mom had never been there so off we went. DELICIOUS!!!  Dean & I went to Mass Saturday afternoon. Our Church Fair was this weekend so after Mass we hung out there. There were a ton of people that we knew so it was fun.

There's a Christmas store in town that's going out of business that was having a 50% off sale. This store is like the other store we went to Sat. in that they're pretty expensive. I'm guessing that has something to do with why they're both going out of business. Anyway, I picked up a few ornaments there too. The place was full of stuff but I didn't find a whole lot that I liked which is really unusual.

Halloween is a really big deal in our subd. Before Trick or Treat starts there's a party down the street with food & drinks & train rides for the kids.  We went down there for a little bit & then just a few houses down from us a neighbor cooks jambalaya & has desserts & chips & dip so we hung out down there most of the night. All the neighbor kids looked really cute but only a few would pose for pictures. This is Amelia-Ann as an "80's girl".

Here's Amelia-Ann & Allie. They didn't plan to both be 80's girls!

Amelia-Ann & her cronies, Gretchen & Maddie. I don't remember what Gretchen was supposed to be but Maddie was a dead cheerleader & apparently, she kept laying on the ground playing dead. I missed it but Dean witnessed it. They're too funny!

Amelia-Ann isn't shy can you tell??

This is our Godchild Abigail. She was Barbie. I think she'd just about had enough for one day!! That's her twin Gavin in the background. He refused to be in the picture.

Me & Anna were hanging out watching the "Fashion Show" that we weren't notified of. Amazing what some of the moms were wearing. Dresses & knee high boots. Really cute stuff but good grief they were walking the neighborhood trick or treating with their kids! I did have my hair fixed but it was HOT so I pulled it up.

Dean & Allie were talking Volleyball & discussing strategy.

We had a really good weekend but I sure hope this day goes by fast because I need to lay on the sofa & recover!

Play Ball??

I'm very excited! I won a giveaway!!! I won a Southern Living cookbook. Those of you that know me, please no jokes about how much I need this. Kendra at Domestic Princess in Training hosted a costume parade. Costumes & Halloween aren't generally my thing. I don't have anything against them, it's just like every other project I attempt. It starts out as a FABULOUS (to me) idea & then never goes according to plan, ends up being a lot more involved than I originally thought & some sort of modification ends up being made. The ONE Halloween costume I've worn was no exception. These pictures are from 2006.
Yes, I'm a pear shaped baseball. I know I looked thrilled in the picture. That thing I'm standing next to is the famous, or maybe infamous is a better word,  pole at my brother's house. Before little Logan came along they had an annual Halloween party. The pole has made an appearance at every party my brother has had & it has followed him from apt. to apt. to house. If you've been reading awhile you may remember the pole from here.
In case you're wondering Dean is dressed as Jimmy Buffet. Bet y'all knew that right?? Let's just say that Dean isn't into costumes or dressing up AT ALL. Anyway, back to my costume. Approximately 15 years ago I decided that this would be an awesome costume for me to wear to two parties I was invited to. The only problem is that I can't sew. When I say can't sew, I mean can't thread a needle, sew a button, anything. However, my mom's friend can & she did. So what's the problem you ask? Me not thinking this through or not knowing enough about science or whatever is the problem. You see my plan was to stuff the ball with something to make me nice & round & full. My thought was batting like you stuff in pillows or whatever. Only problem is I didn't bother to try any of this out until the night of the first party & clearly 3 bags of batting wasn't going to do the job. Not to mention that everything that you stuff inside immediately goes to the bottom of the costume creating the pear shape. I wasn't happy about looking like a pear. Luckily, my daddy is a amazing when it comes to these types of things. He stuffed about a gazillion plastic grocery bags full of newspaper & strung them together with fishing line & made what can only be described as the weirdest looking shoulder pads you've ever seen. It worked great. You guessed it though, the problems didn't end there. Getting in the car was an issue. We had to detach some of the bags so that I was able to drive to the party & then reattach when I got there. Oh if you could've been a fly on the wall. Once I was all stuffed there was no sitting down. If I sat the whole baseball pushed up & was up around my head. I went from looking like a pear to humpty dumpty! And don't even think about sitting in a chair with a back. That wasn't happening. I was just thinking that I don't remember what I did about going to the bathroom.  Hmmm?? All this brings me to the pictures above in 2006. I decided to wear my baseball costume to Scott & Lydia's party but I wasn't going through all that with the "shoulder pads". I stuffed some newspapers in plastic bags, tied them up & stuffed them inside. That is why I looked like a pear.

TGIF!!!

Yay for Friday!!! A really big yay for working half a day on Friday!! Yep, that was me. Can you tell how excited I am about that? We've been busy the last few days. Wednesday night we went over to deliver birthday presents to these little ones.
This is Abigail & Gavin. They're twins & Abigail is our Godchild. They turned 4 earlier this month. We gave them Light Brights. The picture isn't the greatest. Abby didn't want to have a photo shoot & Gavin was much too busy making a picture on his new toy.

Last night Dean & I went out to eat. We went to BJ's Brewhouse where I had the best club sandwich I've ever had. What made it so great? It was on Texas toast! All kinds of toasted buttery fattening goodness. It was fabulous. I had leftovers that I ate for lunch today & it was still really good. I don't normally eat left over sandwiches but there was no way I was letting it go to waste.

After dinner we went to the mall. Look at the cute shirt I bought.
It's just a short sleeve t-shirt but I thought the "bling" was really cute.  What was even better was it was only $6.99. You can't beat that for a shirt you wear once a year.

We made another stop at the mall & Dean got this.
I'm sooooo stinkin' jealous!!! I didn't even care all that much about getting the new iPhone until the guy started showing us the greatness that is the 4. It's just full of awesomeness!!! I tried to get Dean to let me have the new phone & he could have my old 3G but he wasn't interested.

So today when I left work I went to do some shopping. While I was stopped at a red light I noticed this sign.
For anyone that doesn't follow SEC football, Les Miles is LSU's coach that won a National Championship a few years ago but has since fallen out of favor with the fans. There are a lot of reasons but pretty much it boils down to football fans are fickle. Ridley is one of the players that has played really well WHEN he's played hence the play on words. You know "Less" Miles, "More" Ridley.....It's safe to say that the majority of the LSU fan base would like this to be Les' last season.

I found some cute stuff shopping. I'll have more on that in another post. When I finished shopping I made a pit stop at Sonic & got a chocolate shake. I just love those things. They're not as good as Chick Fil A but they're close. My next stop was to get my nails done. I've never seen so many people in that place. I just found a seat, drank my shake & played on my phone while I waited. As I was sitting there I noticed this....
Yes, it says "trask can". HAHAHAHA!! I really love the place & the little Vietnamese people that work there are great but obviously they're still learning English!!

Tonight we just hung around the house playing with & updating the iPhones. In case you didn't know, there's a new update for the 3G & 3GS that was just released a few days ago. Supposedly, it makes it faster. I haven't noticed a difference. There's your public service announcement for the day.

Fall

I follow Kelly's Korner Blog & on Fridays she hosts "Show Us Your Life". This week is fall decorations. I don't do a lot of decorating for fall, Christmas is my thing but I'm slowly addding stuff to my collection.

This is my porch. I love the mums & I'm hoping to keep them alive awhile.

This is in the foyer. The little bat says "Trick or Treat". I got it at Kirkland's this year. They had some really cute stuff & it was on sale!

This is the centerpiece on my dining room table. The iron pumpkin came from Hobby Lobby this year. The other stuff is also from Hobby Lobby that I bought a few years ago. On sale of course! I love that Hobby Lobby puts their holiday stuff on sale before the actual holiday!!

This is the server in my kitchen. I bought all of this at Kirklands this year on sale. I'm hosting our book club get together tonight & I thought these serving pieces would be cute. I'll also use them on Halloween when we have people over. I love how each little bowl has a spreader that attaches to it.

I move these little ghosts around but currently they have their own chair. My mom gave me these several years ago. I think they're adorable & the neighborhood kids love them.

This is also in the kitchen. I couldn't get a really good picture but the pumpkin says "Eat, Drink & Be Scary" & wine glass says "Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun". Another Kirklands purchase that was too cute to pass up!

I made this centerpiece for my island. I bought the cornucopia & everything at Hobby Lobby & put it all together.

Thanks for stopping by!
