Counting Down

Yay for another 3 day work week! We leave on vacation Thursday morning & it can't get here soon enough! Bright & early Thursday morning we're off to Cancun with friends. Hopefully, the weather is better than what we've been dealing with.

We left Thursday night after work for Houston for our nephew's high school graduation. We stopped at Chick-fil-A & my world was rocked. They don't have cole slaw anymore! WHAT????  Apparently, this isn't a new development. I love Chick-fil-A but I don't go often because there isn't one real close to us. I've been eating that cole slaw since I was a kid. The guy told me they replaced it with the kale salad that everyone raves about. That's all fine & good but kale salad & cole slaw are nothing alike. I'm sick of this kind of thing. The Healthier Than Thou group complains & wins. I workout, I like to eat, I want to be healthy but there's such a thing as moderation people. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean other people don't want it. Seriously, I was annoyed.  The next thing you know they'll take away the shakes because dairy isn't good for you & has too many hormones. Get a grip people.

I was so annoyed by Chick-fil-A that I bought crap food at the gas station for dessert. 3 Musketeer bites, cheese crackers & golden Oreos. I didn't eat it all at the same time. In fact, the Oreos came home with us. It was also determined that I'm not a very good rider anymore. I couldn't get comfortable, I forgot to bring a pillow & blanket so I wasn't able to sleep very good & when I was about to fall asleep we kept getting severe weather notifications on our phones. All of this led to a ton of complaining. We finally got there.

I have a tendency to get lost. It usually has something to do with not remembering room numbers or buildings. I thought to take a pic of our room number so I wouldn't end up roaming up & down the hall. It's happened. Trust me.

Graduation was at 10:00 Friday morning at NRG Stadium - where the Texans play.

There were 707 graduates in Drew's class. We expected to be there half the day. Shockingly, an hour & a half later it was over.

It stopped raining long enough to get pictures.

After graduation we went to lunch & spent the afternoon with family.

Friday night we went to the Astros game. They won for a change.

Margarita's, baseball & Prince tribute night. Incidentally, that was the worst tribute night ever! They played 2 Prince songs. We didn't stay the whole game but when you call something a tribute I'm expecting music each half inning. That's not what happened.

We sat in the outfield. First time I'd ever sat out there & it's a different perspective for sure.

Saturday morning we went to visit a friend that's been sick & then headed to Ikea. We've never been there. It didn't live up to the hype FOR ME. People got all in a tizzy when I said that the other day. Slow your roll people, I didn't say I didn't like it, I said it didn't live up to the hype FOR ME. We bought a TV stand for what will eventually be my workout room. Yes, I've been saying that for at least a year but we currently have a semi cleaned out room, a TV & a TV stand so we're leaps ahead of where we were. Dean picked up a couple of pots & I got a duvet cover. I was just expecting more. If you have a dorm room or apt you need to furnish inexpensively, that's the place to go. My friend kept telling me how much she loved their kitchen stuff. I guess she forgot who she was talking too. I don't like to cook so I don't like kitchen stuff.

Next stop was Buc-ee's. Never been there either, also lots of hype. This place lived up to it.  We even stopped in the middle of a monsoon & got soaking wet & it still was worth it. There were like 100 gas pumps - no  exaggeration - TONS of food - homemade fudge, homemade jerky, Dippin Dots, Dr Pepper Icee, bakery, pulled pork, burritos, home decor, etc. Best of all? It was sooooo clean. The bathroom was awesome. Tons & tons of stalls & spotless. We bought $14 work of fudge that Lord knows we don't need, jerky, Dr Pepper & in keeping with my love for all things Mexican, these

I've never had them or even seen them before. Dean said they wouldn't be his first choice. They are definitely mine. I just thought I liked Cool Ranch. That little blue bag has now been replaced.

On the way home we stopped at Cheddar's for a late lunch. We don't have one of those in Baton Rouge so it was a nice change. Once we got home we went to hang out with friends for awhile.

Yesterday was unpacking, laundry & I even started to pack for vacation. I'm so ready to go.

Have a great day!

Toodles!

  1. You have been busy!!!

I really appreciate your honest views on so many places, Traci. Sadly, people have to take issue with negative thoughts. To each their own. We have a Chick fil-A nearby but I rarely eat fast food so I've never been. Ikea left me with the same impression as you and I really do think it's perfect for the younger generation. My husband was really cautious about buying anything big there, I liked the farmhouse sink price. He was skeptical about how and when we'd get it fixed/replaced with it being manufactured in another country. My daughter and her boyfriend were happy with living room furniture which fits their budget and I admit, looks good and fits their budget.

Have in Cancun. We went on our honeymoon.
