Christmas Eve

Yesterday was my parents 40th Anniversary. Dean & I and my brother & sis-in-law & nephew Logan took them to dinner last night. We went to Parrain's & it was delish. I had fried fish & fried oysters which were really good. Logan enjoyed the onion rings & crawfish eggrolls.
Logan enjoys food & everytime the waiter would bring something to the table Logan got a big smile on his face & would watch every move the waiter made. It was funny.

After dinner Dean & I came home & watched The Grinch. This morning I had baking to do. I made monkey bread for breakfast. My mom made it when we were kids but this was the first time I'd made it. Surprisingly, it turned out good. Here's the recipe.

Ingredients:
3 cans of biscuits
1/2 cup sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1 stick of margarine
1 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cups chopped pecans (optional)
2 tsp water

Grease bundt pan & put pecans in the bottom of the pan.
Mix the cinnamon & sugar together.
Quarter the biscuits & in roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture
Layer the biscuits in the bundt pan
Melt margarine, brown sugar & water in small pot & boil for a minute.
Pour over biscuits
Bake at 350 for 25 minutes

This is what it looks like once you finish layer the biscuits.
The finished product.
I forgot to take one after putting the syrup on. It's really good!!

We're off to Mass & then to have a "Cuban Christmas" with out neighbors!

Toodles!

  2. Congratulations to your parents, Traci! It's 42 for us, so we are close to the same age which is probably why I'm often passing out motherly advice......lol! Logan sounds like a real character & a lot fun.

Haven't made Monkey Bread in a gazillion years, but you reminded me just how tasty it is!

Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas!
    xoxo, CAS
