I had another busy weekend that I didn't realize I was going to have. It started Friday night with La Careta for dinner. Most people get Margarita's when they eat Mexican but tequila is not my friend so I went with the Rum Rita. DELISH!!! It's an especially good drink for the summer. It's light & refreshing.Do I sound like I'm doing a commercial?? Saturday morning we had a birthday party we were supposed to go to but I woke up with a headache. I know what you're thinking, it wasn't the Rum Rita. I only had one. For the last several weeks Dean has told me that I'm grinding my teeth in my sleep. I think that's what's causing my headaches. I've had one every morning when I wake up for the past 2 weeks.I don't know what's causing it or what to do to stop it. So we didn't make it to the party but it was for 3 yr. olds & really do they even know you're there when they're surrounded by inflatable jumpy things?? Saturday afternoon I went to Home Depot. I'm getting ready to start my next project - paint my bathroom & switch out the light fixtures, cabinet hardware, etc. I'm going to use the same color in the bathroom that I used in my bedroom but I'm going to do some sort of faux finish so I was looking at glazes & different techniques. I made an impulse buy. A ceiling medallion for the foyer. I've been wanting one & I'd bought one when we switched out the light fixture but it wasn't the right size. At Home Depot I found one & bought it. After looking online today I'll be returning it because I found the exact same one for $15 & I paid $40.
Anyway, on to Saturday night. After Home Depot I made my way to Gonzales to Allison & Joey's house for the fantasy football draft. After a bit of debating strategy & some trading we ended up with the 2nd pick. Of course the 1st pick was Adrian Peterson so we went with Tom Brady. Apparently, we didn't do enough research & when I say enough I mean none, because when I got home & told Dean he informed me that Brady came out of their preseason game Friday night with a sore shoulder. We have on the Bronco's preseason game now & I just found out that Knowshon Moreno is also hurt & they hope to have him back by opening day. Guess who was another of our picks?? Yep Knowshon. As I'm writing this I'm watching Devin Hester call for a fair catch on a punt that's on the 5 yd. line. He doesn't appear to be very smart & yep you guessed it - he's ours too! We're just lucky we were able to stick to our No Thugs philosophy & field a team. In a couple of weeks I may be posting about "The Worst Fantasy Football Team Ever".
Today we went to 7:00 Mass & then grocery shopping. When we got home I took a good 2 hr. nap. I love my Sunday morning naps. It's pretty much a routine when I go to Mass at 7:00. This afternoon we went to the country for Dean's Godchild, Jacob's birthday party. It was wild as usual & everyone seemed to have a good time. We left there & headed to our friends' that moved to Zachary this summer to see their new house. It's really nice & we enjoyed visiting with them.
For you readers out there, I've started "Bitter Is The New Black". I've only read about 50 pages but so far I really like this book. I think it's going to be really good & I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series too.
I'm bummed that another weekend has come & gone & I didn't get to spend any time in the pool. Hopefully, next weekend we'll have nice weather since it's a long weekend.
I'm trying to have positive thoughts about tomorrow being Monday. I had a rough week last week & want to start this one off on good note.

Phones & Toilet Paper
Today was cell phone upgrade day. I am now the proud owner of an iPhone. I just have to figure out how to work it. Everyone that I know that has one says it's idiot proof. We'll see. I also have to sign up for an iTunes account so that I can download apps. There are ear phones with it too. Does this mean I don't need an iPod? I don't have one but I was thinking since Dean broke down & bought a pair of Crocs I might get an iPod. Dean always says we're the only family in the hisotry of the world that doesn't have Crocs or an iPod!! Anyway, I was going in knowing I had to pay $99 for the phone, an $18 upgrade fee (which I think is a total rip off) & $30/mo. for the internet. What I did not know was that if I still want to text like I do I have to keep a texting plan too & that I probably need a car charger because if you use the web the phone doesn't hold a charge as long as the phone I had & of course you MUST have a cute case. Sooooo $160 later I have the phone, the car charger, a pink case & FREE (yeh right) screen protectors.
I was at the AT&T store for awhile. Like 45 mins. I've never understood why it takes so long. While I'm there a couple comes in that appear to be in their 20's. They also appear to be serious white trash. Tattoo's, unmatching & ratty clothes & when the AT&T guy asked if he could help them the girl's response was "NO, he don't need no phone. He goes through them like toilet paper". Seriously people, I couldn't make this stuff up.
If you've never had a shake from Chic Fil A you are missing out. It's the best shake ever! I've had shakes from pretty much everywhere that sells shakes & I think this is the best. I love love love chocolate shakes. I got one while I was in the mall. Soooo good!
Dean finished the hinges on 3 doors yesterday. He was working when I got home. We would've done more but the battery on the drill died. I'm just happy to see progress being made. He'll be helping Cassie unload her UHaul today so I'll probably catch up on more of my stuff on the DVR.

Randomness
For whatever reason I find it necessary to take stupid quizzes. Like on Facebook, which character from Facts of Life are you & stuff like that. So when I got an email from HGTV or Fine Living, I don't remember which, that had a "What's Your Design Personality?" quiz, I had to take it. I guess this stems from me & Allison's furniture shopping trip Sunday. We were talking about how we have completely different taste & we see stuff the other would buy in a store & wouldn't look twice at it but when we see it in each other's houses we really like it. Basicaly, Allison is modern & I'm traditional. So how unbelievably ridiculous is the results of the quiz?????
"You are offbeat eclectic.
You firmly believe that one man's trash can be another man's (or woman's) treasure, so you're constantly scouring yard sales for new goodies. Your interests change rapidly, so you could be into tarot readings one month and tai chi the next.
Although you're not the most organized person, you love to throw parties to expose friends to different cultures. You can be unpredictable, but you're always exciting."
Seriously, this is about as far off the mark as you can get. I absolutely HATE HATE HATE eclectic. Seriously. I DON'T go to garage sales because I hate to dig. I'd rather pay full price than dig. I've never had tarot readings or done tai chi. I'm not even sure if you do tai chi or it's a decorative style or something your drink. I'm pretty organized & I certainly have NO desire to be exposed, much less expose someone else, to different cultures. I don't even eat Nese! I guess they got something right when they said I can be unpredictable but I'm not even sure about that. My entire house is painted some shade of brown. I don't think you can get anymore non-eclectic than that. I wonder why I continue to waste my time on these quizzes.
Yesterday, it took me 45 minutes to get home from work. Normally, it doesn't take more than 30 mins. to get home & less than that to get to work. LSU started classes yesterday so I know that had something to do with it but then there's a big article on the front page of today's paper about LSU's new bus system & how great it is & how crowded the buses were. Well, I would hate to see if all of those people were actually driving around. I don't have a problem driving but I hate to just sit & yesterday I did a lot of sitting. Like multiple times through multiple red lights. It was not fun. I know there are people that have it much worse, but I know there are also people that have it much better - DEAN (I dont' know why he isn't the one that has to deal with this, he's actually laid back & has some patience unlike me) - it's sooooo frustrating. I'm hoping yesterday was a fluke & I can get home in a timely fashion today.
I've talked about my love for reality TV. Well I'm about to bail on one of my shows -Real Housewives of Atlanta. This show is starting to bug me. It's full of drama & the women are the epitome of "new money" & ghetto. Every week it's the same thing & I think I'm done. There's too much good mindless tv on to waste time watching crap. This will leave me with an available time slot, so I'm thinking about what to fill it with. I was determined not to take on any new shows because the fall's coming & all my regular shows will start coming back on - Gossip Girl, Big Bang Theory, NCIS, Grey's, Private Practice, Desperate Housewives(yep I'm still on the bandwagon) - but yesterday & today Kellie Rasberry talked about the greatness that is Project Runway. This has never been a must see for me but when they started talking about a soccer ball dress I got interested. Then my mom is harassing me about watching Army Wives. Who knows. I really do have a tough life huh??

I Ate Yesterday
Yesterday was my shopping trip with Allison. The day didn't go exactly as we had planned. I left to go shopping early because I had a few things to return before I met up with Allison. Who knew the mall didn't open until 12:00?? Maybe everbody knows that but me. There I was not able to do anything I'd planned so off I went to Borders. I got a book of devotionals for me & a Dr. Seuss book for Logan. I love Dr. Seuss. Those books are so fun! Plus, I thought Scott & Lydia might actually read those since they're short. They don't like to read & when Lydia found out she was pregnant I told them that I'd buy all the books but they had to promise to read to Logan. They say they are but they also claim that he screams when they attempt to.
I think this may be staged....
I think this may be staged....
At noon I met up with Allison. We went to the mall & I attempted to get an iphone. Well, technically, I'm not eligible for an upgrade until the 26th but being that it was the 23rd I thought surely they'd let me do it. Well, I surely thought wrong. The helpful little salesguy did give me a choice, I could wait until the 26th or upgrade yesterday & just pay an extra $200. Yeh, I don't think so. I'll go back Wed. At that point we decided to start the furniture shopping since that was the point of the trip. Off we went to Home Furniture. Who knew they were like closed on Sunday's? Not us. There's a new furniture store over by Dick's Sporting Goods we were going to try. We went over there & they didn't open until 1:00. At this point I began wondering if someone was trying to tell us something. We went to the Ashley Store in Gonzales. Now, I would personally never, ever, ever buy anything from these people after my last experience with them & even though Allison has had problems with them in the past, she doesn't get into the habit of boycotting stores like I do. She found something she liked. By this time it was after 1:00 so we headed back to the other store. Allison found a set she liked even more so that's what she's going to get. Shockingly, I didn't find anything that I had to have. This is so unusual for me. I did find a fish that I wanted to put by the pool but it was $50 & I REFUSE to pay $50 for a fish. I wonder if they ever have coupons.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE reality TV! Not stuff like Survivor or Amazing Race, stuff like Tori & Dean, Addicted to Beauty, Design Star & The Real Housewives of anywhere. One of my favorites is Flipping Out. I was turned onto this show by my former Gyno, Dr. Benanti. She said it was one of her favorites. This show is truly GREATNESS!!! Jeff Lewis is HILARIOUS!! Last week Jeff asked his intern if he'd eaten lunch & his response was "No, I ate yesterday". OMG, HILARIOUS!!! Anyway, this is just one of many shows that I have on the DVR that I need to catch up on. I need a good rainy day that I don't have anything to do & can just pile up on the sofa with Dr. Pepper & watch all this stuff. That would be an amazing day! Unfortunately, I don't see that in my future anytime soon. For one thing, apparently I live in the desert where it never rains.
I just finished a book called Hope in a Jar. It's by the same author as Shoe Addicts Anonymous. I really enjoyed it even though it wasn't complete fluff. It had a good story. It bounced back & forth from the present & back during the main characters childhood. My next book is Glamour. It's a book, not the magazine.
Anyway, I hope everyone had a good Monday!

Technical Difficulties - AGAIN!!!
This entry is coming to you from my "Tropical Paradise" aka my patio. It's a really nice evening & Dean & I are sitting here grilling, listening to music & watching the hummingbirds play. I'm having some wine that my friend brought me from France. It's DELICIOUS!! Unfortunately, I've also seen some lovebugs. Lovely! I hate those stupid little bugs. Not that I really like any bugs but I really hate those.
So for those of you that continue to read this blog you'll see that technical difficulties are a recurring theme in my life. Today, my nephew Logan was Baptized. Lydia's mom was having a reception for him at her house afterwards. Last night I made shrimp dip to bring. Most of you know I'm not a cook. Really that's an understatement but I can make shrimp dip & everyone that eats it compliments me. Anyway, when I finish making it I realize that I forgot to put the cocktail sauce on it. Now this is a MAJOR mistake. Well, the cocktail sauce goes on before the cheese, shrimp & bell peppers. I sat there with a fork & spoon & got all of that stuff off & added the cocktail sauce, then put everything back on & added more cheese so it would be pretty again. Taking off cheese, shrimp & bell pepper & putting it all back isn't really conducive to good "presentation". Besides, I don't think you can ever have too much cheese! There was hardly any left so I guess it tasted ok too.
Our normal Friday night routine is to go out to dinner. It's also normally a big thing to decide where we want to go. I guess this means we eat out to much. Last night was a pretty easy decision. We had gift cards from Bravo! that the Levy's gave us for Christmas that we hadn't used yet. Thanks Leslie - it was great!
Logan's Baptism was really nice. Lydia's cousin is a Deacon so we were able to have a private Baptism & he performed the ceremony. Logan wasn't the happiest camper but for the most part he coooperated. Isn't he just the cutest thing ever??
Logan's Nonk said he looked like Fats Domino, but we think he's much cuter!!
Tomorrow I'm going shopping with Allison. She's looking for bedroom furniture. She is one of the funniest people I know so it should really be entertaining.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Baby Showers
Kelly's Korner Blog is a blog I follow & every Fri. she has a different "Show Us Your Life". This week is baby showers. I've been part of two in two months recently.
The first one was for my sister-in-law, Lydia. Here's a picture of the diaper cake Vicki & I made. This was the first one we'd ever done. I think it came out great.
Here is a picture of the REAL cake.
More dessert!
All of the party food! Finger sandwiches, chips, dips, veggies & fruit trays!!
This is a shower I helped give for my good friend Leslie. I made a diaper cake but this time for a little girl!
Leslie's good friend made the real cake. Look how adorable it is!
These were both showers for first babies. I've also hosted a diaper & wipe shower and a brunch for friends that were having their second babies. Speaking of babies - Congratulations Wendy! She just found out she's pregnant. How exciting!!

Technical Difficulties
Another door is finished. Last night I decided to work on hinges. This process is going much slower than I had hoped. I'm not a patient person but I don't want to bug Dean about getting it all done being that he wanted nothing to do with this project to begin with. I got the first two done easily. The third one, not so much. I had technical difficulties. The door wouldn't close. I couldn't figure out what the problem was so I had to suck it up & get Dean. Well, he discovered that I had the hinge on backwards. Hmmm, I didn't realize there was a certain way they went. Apparently, I was really lucky that the other six I did were on right. Well, right if you don't count that two of them are upside down but I don't think that really matters. Besides, you can't tell. So here are some pictures.
Before - shiny brass
After - pretty oil rubbed bronze
I'd ordered some makeup last week from E.L.F. I LOVE this website. The makeup is ridiculously CHEAP! Seriously, I got 2 different colors of blush, an eyelash curler, a tube of mascara & 2 eyeliners - they have the greatest eyeliner pen ever! My total INCLUDING shipping was $11.00! How awesome is that? There's no way I could've gotten all of that stuff at a store for that price. Plus, I love getting mail & packages! Once you sign up for E.L.F. email updates they send coupon codes all the time. The regular price is cheap to begin with so with a code it's crazy cheap! Check it out.
It looks like the name of our Fantasy Football team is going to be "No Thugs" unless someone comes up with something better before the draft. We've had a few other suggestions but we like this the best so far. Dean thought he was hilarious when he suggested "Clueless". Real funny. We'll see who's clueless.
I read A LOT. Last night I started reading Candy Spelling's book. I'm a HUGE fan of Tori. She was always my fave on 90210 & now I love her reality show. I've read both of her books & I'm definitely "Team Tori". Before I started reading Candy's book I thought she was an incredibly selfish person. Now that I've read about half of it I've also discovered that she's boring. This book is having a hard time holding my interest. So far she's told about her obsession with Rock Hudson & her collection of fans. The kind you wave not electrical. I mean seriously, a book about this stuff? Maybe it's going to get better. Who knows.

NO THUGS!
In my last post I mentioned that my friend Wendy & I are going to have a team in Allison's Fantasy Football League. We're still trying to come up with a name. We have a few ideas that we're tossing around but we're open to suggestions! Everyone has their own system of drafting their team. The first year my friends Allison & Jill joined the league they went strictly by head shots. Then they moved on to a "No Saints" policy. Wendy & I know about football so I don't think we'll have to resort to the head shot thing but we each have a strategy that we feel strongly about. I guess maybe it isn't really a strategy, more of a stipulation. Wendy absolutely refuses to have Brett Favre on our team & I refuse to have any thugs. I don't care how good they are. If at any point there's a chance that they won't play because they've shot someone & been arrested I don't want to deal with them. Commissioner Ian (he's graduated from being Pimp Ian) has sent me all the rules so I've been reviewing them. It should be fun!
Last night I made a run by Hobby Lobby & I bought a "B". A few weeks ago when I was shopping I saw these great looking letters & immediately took a picture & sent it to Allison. She'd been looking for an "H". She loved it as much as I did. The only problem was I couldn't think of a place to hang it in my house so I didn't buy it. Odd for me. I usually buy & then worry about where it will go. Saturday night I saw that Allison hung hers above her back door. I stole her idea & decided to hang mine above my pantry. I've been looking for something to hang there for ages so I'm not sure why I didn't think of it before. I went to Hobby Lobby after work yesterday to get it. Everyone knows I love getting a deal & hate paying regular price for stuff so of course I'd printed a 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby's website. The letters were $24.99 but there was a big sign that said $19.99. I asked someone that worked there & being the helpful person she was, she informed me "that's the wrong sign" & walked off. Hmm. I get my "B" & go to check out. There's a little supervisor lady by the register so I asked her about it. She said it doesn't matter if the sign is wrong they have to honor the price. WOOO HOOO!! After my coupon I paid $13 with tax. What a deal! I love how it looks. Here's a pic

The Worst Book Club Ever
My BFF Vicki encouraged me to start a blog. I'm by no means a writer but I'm going to try. It's basically just a chronicle of my life hence, the title.
I was "I Alone" for part of the weekend. Dean went out of town on a fishing trip. I made the most of my alone time because I knew I had a busy weekend planned. I did lots of reading, watching TV & facebooking! I did manage to get a little work done too. We're changing out the hinges on all of our doors. I did 2. That's right 2 HINGES, not 2 doors. The batteries went dead on the cordless screwdriver. At least I proved I could do it!
Friday night I had dinner with some of my good friends who happen to be the best neighbors ever, the GIllio's & the Mitchell's. We went to one of their favorite places, Schlitz & Giggles. It's a little pizza joing downtown with a great atmosphere. It's very casual & has big TV's all over. That was it for my Friday night because I knew I had to be up early.
The first thing on the agenda for Saturday was a haircut & hi-lite. I love getting my hair done. It's so relaxing & I love my Stylist, Heidi. I've known her forever & she always has a tidbit of info. After that I head to my parents house. My daddy (yes I call him daddy) boil shrimp & we had delicious shrimp salads! I stayed there for awhile before heading home to get ready for our Book Club (I use the term loosely but more on that later). By the time I got home I'd talked myself into a nap. When I woke up Dean was home! I was very excited because I always worry like a crazy person when he's gone. So off I went to Book Club. I stopped at Wendy's before to see her house. It's so cute!
Book Club was a lot of fun! Shout out to Allison for hosting. We had great food. I brought a shrimp dip that I made & is DELICIOUS if I do say so myself. I'm not a cook so I'm very proud of anything I make that I get compliments on. The Jennifers brought Canes, which is always fabulous! Allison made a great drink called Pink Panty Pulldown. It was strong but delicious! She also made meatballs & had melba toast & Laughing Cow cheese. This was my first experience with Laughing Cow. WOW that stuff is good. As you can see I like food! Wendy made a couple of cheesecakes so we'd have something sweet. Wendy started the Book Club, but it's really a book challenge. Our goal was to read 50 books this year. I'm happy to say I've already exceeded my goal. I've also learned that I read a lot of fluff. I like fluff. I did go completely outside my comfort zone & read the Twilight series. I really enjoyed them but I'm probably the only person on the face of the earth that has no desire to see any of the movies. Allison's little sister Andrea joined us. She's not in the book club but is always hilarious! She wasn't the only non member of the book club to show up. There was a possum in the driveway. Anyone who knows Allison knows that this is one of the worst possible things that could happen. She hates anything with beady eyes & a tail. Back to Andrea, at one point during book club we were discussing fantasy football & sports when Andrea declared this "The Worst Book Club Ever". It was hilarious but true! When Wendy commented that most of the books have discussion questions at the end of them she was booed! I guess it's really just an excuse for all of us to get together for a girls night! Wendy & I did decide to combine forces & have a team in Allison's Fantasy Football League. It sounds like they have a lot of fun. Now we have to come up with a name. Who knows how long that will take, it took like a week to come up with the blog name!
Sunday morning Dean & I went to see Samantha Claire be Baptized. Sam's dad is Dean's cousin & her mom has been my friend for years. I love Baptism ceremonies. It's such a special time. There were 2 other babies being Baptized as well & they all looked so peaceful. After the Baptism we went back to Sam's house for a reception in her honor. More great food! There were finger sandwiches (why is it that those little sandwiches taste so much better than a regular one?) & the most delicious cookies I've ever had. Sam's Aunt Kim made them. They were fabulous!
When we got home we planned to do yardwork but it was raining. What a bummer, I took a nap instead!!! Now back to work. The weekends go by too fast. I'm thinking about just staying home & doing nothing on the weekends & maybe it will seem like they last longer.
