TGIF!!!

Yay for Friday!!! A really big yay for working half a day on Friday!! Yep, that was me. Can you tell how excited I am about that? We've been busy the last few days. Wednesday night we went over to deliver birthday presents to these little ones.
This is Abigail & Gavin. They're twins & Abigail is our Godchild. They turned 4 earlier this month. We gave them Light Brights. The picture isn't the greatest. Abby didn't want to have a photo shoot & Gavin was much too busy making a picture on his new toy.

Last night Dean & I went out to eat. We went to BJ's Brewhouse where I had the best club sandwich I've ever had. What made it so great? It was on Texas toast! All kinds of toasted buttery fattening goodness. It was fabulous. I had leftovers that I ate for lunch today & it was still really good. I don't normally eat left over sandwiches but there was no way I was letting it go to waste.

After dinner we went to the mall. Look at the cute shirt I bought.
It's just a short sleeve t-shirt but I thought the "bling" was really cute.  What was even better was it was only $6.99. You can't beat that for a shirt you wear once a year.

We made another stop at the mall & Dean got this.
I'm sooooo stinkin' jealous!!! I didn't even care all that much about getting the new iPhone until the guy started showing us the greatness that is the 4. It's just full of awesomeness!!! I tried to get Dean to let me have the new phone & he could have my old 3G but he wasn't interested.

So today when I left work I went to do some shopping. While I was stopped at a red light I noticed this sign.
For anyone that doesn't follow SEC football, Les Miles is LSU's coach that won a National Championship a few years ago but has since fallen out of favor with the fans. There are a lot of reasons but pretty much it boils down to football fans are fickle. Ridley is one of the players that has played really well WHEN he's played hence the play on words. You know "Less" Miles, "More" Ridley.....It's safe to say that the majority of the LSU fan base would like this to be Les' last season.

I found some cute stuff shopping. I'll have more on that in another post. When I finished shopping I made a pit stop at Sonic & got a chocolate shake. I just love those things. They're not as good as Chick Fil A but they're close. My next stop was to get my nails done. I've never seen so many people in that place. I just found a seat, drank my shake & played on my phone while I waited. As I was sitting there I noticed this....
Yes, it says "trask can". HAHAHAHA!! I really love the place & the little Vietnamese people that work there are great but obviously they're still learning English!!

Tonight we just hung around the house playing with & updating the iPhones. In case you didn't know, there's a new update for the 3G & 3GS that was just released a few days ago. Supposedly, it makes it faster. I haven't noticed a difference. There's your public service announcement for the day.

My Little Pets

We don't have any pets at my house so when the Hummingbirds start showing up I make sure to have "food" out for them. Aside from planting lots of Hummingbird loving plants, I put out the sugar water. The last week they've been all over the place. I guess they're filling up for when they leave. I have 2 feeders out. This one is right outside the living room so I can watch them from the sofa.
This guy seems to be Mr. In Charge. He kept chasing off the other ones.

Can you tell there are 3 on this feeder?

I took this one this morning. I know these aren't good pictures but I was having to take them through the window so as not to scare them off.
At one point this morning there were 7 at the feeder! It was so neat to watch.

I'll miss them when they're gone.

I'm joining the party at A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday.

Monday

I had such good intentions this weekend. I was going to finally finish my bathroom redo but alas, that didn't happen due to lack of a staple gun. Hopefully, it will be completely finished this weekend. Phase 1 that is.

I also planned to put out my fall decor & I even went to Hob Lob Friday & bought more. That didn't happen either. It's not that I was oh so busy without any time to spare. I pretty much had nothing but time all weekend, which was lovely by the way. This would be why there are no fall decorations.
This was Friday on my way home from Hob Lob at 5:45! Seriously! Needless to say I can't decorate for fall when it feels like it's the middle of the summer with no end in site.

In my game day post I forgot to show y'all my adorable flag.
I love it! The emblem is called Fleur de Tigre. A local artist, Stacy Blanchard,  did the design & now it's all over shirts, pictures, flags, jewelry, you name it. We put it out on game days. I'd like to leave it out but it would fade into a hot mess in no time with our heat.

I hope everyone had a good Monday.

My Mistake

It has been brought to my attention that the radio show that I referred to in my last post is NOT The Rhythm & Blues Review. It's actually Jukebox Legends. I regret the error. Apparently, someone (Dean) read my blog while I was napping today & was offended by my use of the word "crap" when describing his beloved radio show. Yes, I napped again today. I must make up for the past weeks! Anyway, I reminded Dean that he has certainly made comments about my love for Snoop Dogg & New Kids On The Block. His response was something along the lines of "yeh but I don't post it all over the Internet. Maybe I'll start a blog!".

I'm sure the burning question in everyone's mind is "Where did I come up with The Rhythm & Blues Review?". No, I didn't just dream it up, that would be another radio show that Dean listens to on Saturday mornings. It's certainly not my fave but I like it much better than Jukebox Legends.

So Dean, I apologize for calling your show crap even though I think it is.

Game Day

I think I'm married to a 60  yr. old in a 42 yr. old body. As we watch the LSU game (which isn't pretty by the way), Dean is flipping the surround sound from the game to this radio show he listens to on Saturday afternoons. It's called "The Rhythm & Blues Review". The play a vast array of crap with a couple of ok songs thrown in. Dean has turned my mom & dad onto this show & they "love it". Should a 42 yr. old really like the same music as 61 yr. olds?? I think not.

Today has been a lovely day. I spent a little time in the pool, I took a little nap (which hasn't happened in weeks), I went to Mass so now I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn in the morning, Dean grilled steaks & I'm having wine. It's delightful.

I bought these last weekend at Sam's for our LSU party.  I took this picture today. I can't believe they still look so good!

Yes, the water does have a purple tint. I'm guessing it's because a purple petal fell into it. Either that or Gilda & her crew of Mexicans have some special something or other that they put in it.

I follow BonBon Rose Girls blog. They have all sorts of great fashion tips. Today is Champagne Saturday & I'm linking up. I'm supposed to take a picture of myself wearing some great outfit. Dean & I are at home by ourselves watching LSU. There is no great outfit.
This is all I've got. Aren't they fabulous??? If you really want, you can picture me in a LSU t-shirt & a pair of terry cloth shorts that don't match the shirt or my adorable flip flops. Dean might have just said "what's going on with those shoes & that get up?". You know it's bad when your husband that relies on you to dress him uses the term "that get up". Sigh.

WEIRDEST appt. EVER!!

I had to go to the eye doctor today. It was just my yearly check up & to get new contacts. I've been going to the same Dr. for years. When I checked in today the receptionist lady asked if all of my information was the same which it was & then she said "OK, I need to get a picture." HUH?? I thought maybe I misunderstood until she pulled up this little camera thingy that was hooked to her computer & asked if I was ready. Yeh, well, as ready as I can be taking a picture at the eye doctor. I can only imagine what this picture looked like with sunglasses on my head & a look of utter disbelief on my face. Oh well, moving on. They called me back to the room & do all the normal things. The Dr. comes in, checks me out, puts that yellow goop in my eyes to check for glaucoma which, thankfully, I don't have. Shockingly, my prescription didn't change this year. He tells me there are some new contacts out that he thinks I'll like. They don't dry out & he's going to give me a pair to wear for a week to see how I like them. He tells me one of the tech ladies will be in to "irrigate" my eyes & get the new contacts. Well, a little bit later here comes a lady. The first thing she says to me is "you're squinting at me". Keep in mind I don't have contacts in & without my contacts I can see nothing. Seriously, this woman looked like a blob. Of course I was squinting at her. She starts the whole irrigation process which I absolutely hate! I've worn contacts since I was 11 yrs. old & I still have a problem putting any kind of drops in my eyes. Even before I wore contacts I couldn't open my eyes under water. Anyway, just a little background about why I hate the irrigation process. So, she's irrigating & commenting on how she's sorry & that she's almost done. I told her how I still have a problem putting anything other than my contacts in my eyes & she said something very, very strange. She said "Oh, well you're really not going to like it when I put the contacts in.". I wasn't sure what she was talking about. Soon enough I found out. She told me to lean back & she proceeded to attempt to put my contact in my eye. This has never ever happened except for the very first time I got contacts. I didn't say anything but I wasn't liking this one bit. When she couldn't get the left one in after several tries I asked why exactly she was putting them in to which she answered "Because I need to check your vision with them in." DUH!! I know that. I wanted to know why she was LITERALLY  putting the contacts in my eyes. So I said "oh yeh, I know that, I was just wondering why you were putting them in instead of me doing it because I've never had this happen before". She said "really? I need to check your vision". Obviously, she didn't get it. Finally after several tries she got the other contact in, I read the eye chart & hauled it out of there. Just really, really strange.

Tonight the NFL season kicks off with the Saints playing. We're watching all the festivities on TV & listening to Spike Lee. He needs to just go away. He's nothing but a publicity seeker. Tracy Porter has a very interesting hair do. His head looks like a spider web. How do they do that??

Moving on, after setting the line up for No Thugs, I'm not liking our chances this year. It looks like we're not going to do well in the Running Back area.

Shrimp Dip

This is one of those post that don't happen often. A recipe. By now, I think everyone knows I'm not a cook but this is a really easy thing to make. Well, once you get the ingredients that is. A few posts ago I talked about my cooking malfunctions. This recipe had a malfunction but I don't think it was entirely my fault. I'll get to that. Here are the ingredients.

16 oz sour cream

8 oz cream cheese
8 oz envelope ranch dressing mix
2 cans tiny shrimp (rinse them)
chopped green onions(optional)
few drops of tabasco
paprika
tonys seasoning - (or any type of cajun seasoning)
a drop or two of crab boil

Looking at this list I'm sure you're thinking what in the world would I have a problem with?? That would be the 8 oz. envelope of ranch dressing mix. There wasn't an 8 oz. envelope. This is when I have problems, when I have to veer off on my own & make a decision. First, I tried calling my friend that gave me the recipe only to have her not answer the phone. It was all up to me. There were 16 oz. envelopes, there was an 8 oz. jar, not to mention on all of the envelopes there was net weight & how much the envelope of stuff makes onces it's mixed with other stuff. Talk about confusing for a non cook. I made an executive decision to get the 16 oz. envelope because that seemed to be the standard size. I started thinking that my friend had made a typo. Next step is just mix all of the stuff together & chill it. That's it. Seriously, how easy is that??

I made the dip for our Fantasy Football Draft we had a couple of weekends ago. I thought that I did everything right because there was only enough dip left for a couple of crackers. When I spoke to my friend she informed me that last time she made the dip she also couldn't find the 8 oz. packet so she bought the 16 oz. & used half. Hmmm. I could've done that. So, if you want to make the dip I'll let you determine whether you want 8 or 16 oz. of Ranch dressing mix or maybe even somewhere in between. I served it with Ruffles.
