Father's Day Fun!

Still playing catch up. Me & Dean spent the day at our house for Father's Day with both of our families. Dean grilled. His burgers are the best ever. As usual everything was delicious. We played in the pool for awhile too.

Logan always makes us laugh.

Cannon balls

and fake cannon balls.
It was a fun day.

I got back on the workout train last Monday. Things had been touch & go with vacation & being tired. Always tired. I'd really like to figure out a way to function on 5 or 6 hours of sleep. I'd get so much more done. Anyway, I started the week off right & went for a 4 mi. run.

I had a pretty view as I was finishing my run.

More from Cancun

We were lucky that we had good weather the entire time we were in Cancun. There was a good chance of rain every day but we only had one shower that lasted about 5 minutes.

We could see Cancun from the beach.

Cindy managed to have her phone in the pool with us taking pictures without drowning it.

Kitzia, me & Dean - there was a table with stools in the pool. It was so cute.

Me, Dean, Brad & Cindy

We met some people from Omaha & hung out with them one afternoon.

The whole crew

The girls with our new friend Sarah. She was on her honeymoon. Her husband saw my hat & said that he'd always wanted to go to a LSU game & now we're all facebook friends!

We had lunch by the pool one day & they had these adorable coconut drinks. They were good too!

I just couldn't get over how pretty the resort & views were.

Happy Tuesday!

We're Back!

As sad as it is, we are back from vacation. Insert sad face here. Seriously. It was such a great vacation.

We started out with cocktails in the airport at 6:00 am. Cindy is terrified of flying so a drink is a must & we couldn't let her drink alone. She also takes a "happy" pill but we didn't partake in that part. LOL.

We flew from New Orleans to Houston to Cancun. The flight from NOLA to Houston had the lady that didn't take a breath the entire flight. Seriously. I know her entire life story along with everyone around us because she was loud.  "I don't have anorexia but I have something", "The car wreck was worse than the cancer" & it went on & on & on & on.

After making it through Customs we found our shuttle to the resort & were on our way.  When we drove up to Royalton it was beautiful! All you could see through the glass doors was the ocean. We stayed in the Hideaway portion of the resort which is the adult only section.

We were greeted with cool towels & champagne!

After we checked in our Butler took us to our room & showed us how everything worked.

This was on the TV. We put on swimsuits & met up with everyone to explore.

We ended up on the beach.

Everything was really pretty!

We had dinner at the buffet & I was amazed. Everything was really good & there were soooo many choices! It was like Vegas. Fresh seafood grilled to order, the best pizza, Mexican food, sushi - which now I'm a fan of, pasta, you name it they had it.

We had an early night since we were up since 4 am.

The view from our balcony was fabulous. This is what you saw when you looked to the right.

And this is what you saw when you looked to the left.

We had gorgeous clear days every day but one & it was only cloudy for a little while with a really short shower.

Friday morning we had breakfast at the buffet. Again, amazing!
Then we were off to the beach.

Aren't our cups cute?

Fake Yeti's for the win! They work just as good as the real thing! Cindy decorated them for us with our monogram's on the back.

More pics to come! Have a great weekend!

Counting Down

Yay for another 3 day work week! We leave on vacation Thursday morning & it can't get here soon enough! Bright & early Thursday morning we're off to Cancun with friends. Hopefully, the weather is better than what we've been dealing with.

We left Thursday night after work for Houston for our nephew's high school graduation. We stopped at Chick-fil-A & my world was rocked. They don't have cole slaw anymore! WHAT????  Apparently, this isn't a new development. I love Chick-fil-A but I don't go often because there isn't one real close to us. I've been eating that cole slaw since I was a kid. The guy told me they replaced it with the kale salad that everyone raves about. That's all fine & good but kale salad & cole slaw are nothing alike. I'm sick of this kind of thing. The Healthier Than Thou group complains & wins. I workout, I like to eat, I want to be healthy but there's such a thing as moderation people. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean other people don't want it. Seriously, I was annoyed.  The next thing you know they'll take away the shakes because dairy isn't good for you & has too many hormones. Get a grip people.

I was so annoyed by Chick-fil-A that I bought crap food at the gas station for dessert. 3 Musketeer bites, cheese crackers & golden Oreos. I didn't eat it all at the same time. In fact, the Oreos came home with us. It was also determined that I'm not a very good rider anymore. I couldn't get comfortable, I forgot to bring a pillow & blanket so I wasn't able to sleep very good & when I was about to fall asleep we kept getting severe weather notifications on our phones. All of this led to a ton of complaining. We finally got there.

I have a tendency to get lost. It usually has something to do with not remembering room numbers or buildings. I thought to take a pic of our room number so I wouldn't end up roaming up & down the hall. It's happened. Trust me.

Graduation was at 10:00 Friday morning at NRG Stadium - where the Texans play.

There were 707 graduates in Drew's class. We expected to be there half the day. Shockingly, an hour & a half later it was over.

It stopped raining long enough to get pictures.

After graduation we went to lunch & spent the afternoon with family.

Friday night we went to the Astros game. They won for a change.

Margarita's, baseball & Prince tribute night. Incidentally, that was the worst tribute night ever! They played 2 Prince songs. We didn't stay the whole game but when you call something a tribute I'm expecting music each half inning. That's not what happened.

We sat in the outfield. First time I'd ever sat out there & it's a different perspective for sure.

Saturday morning we went to visit a friend that's been sick & then headed to Ikea. We've never been there. It didn't live up to the hype FOR ME. People got all in a tizzy when I said that the other day. Slow your roll people, I didn't say I didn't like it, I said it didn't live up to the hype FOR ME. We bought a TV stand for what will eventually be my workout room. Yes, I've been saying that for at least a year but we currently have a semi cleaned out room, a TV & a TV stand so we're leaps ahead of where we were. Dean picked up a couple of pots & I got a duvet cover. I was just expecting more. If you have a dorm room or apt you need to furnish inexpensively, that's the place to go. My friend kept telling me how much she loved their kitchen stuff. I guess she forgot who she was talking too. I don't like to cook so I don't like kitchen stuff.

Next stop was Buc-ee's. Never been there either, also lots of hype. This place lived up to it.  We even stopped in the middle of a monsoon & got soaking wet & it still was worth it. There were like 100 gas pumps - no  exaggeration - TONS of food - homemade fudge, homemade jerky, Dippin Dots, Dr Pepper Icee, bakery, pulled pork, burritos, home decor, etc. Best of all? It was sooooo clean. The bathroom was awesome. Tons & tons of stalls & spotless. We bought $14 work of fudge that Lord knows we don't need, jerky, Dr Pepper & in keeping with my love for all things Mexican, these

I've never had them or even seen them before. Dean said they wouldn't be his first choice. They are definitely mine. I just thought I liked Cool Ranch. That little blue bag has now been replaced.

On the way home we stopped at Cheddar's for a late lunch. We don't have one of those in Baton Rouge so it was a nice change. Once we got home we went to hang out with friends for awhile.

Yesterday was unpacking, laundry & I even started to pack for vacation. I'm so ready to go.

Have a great day!

Memorial Day

The weekend wasn't a crazy one but we managed to keep busy. Friday night we went to a high school graduation party for our friends son. The food was delicious especially the cake!

Saturday we were up early to do some outside work. There was lots of pressure washing to be done. It's amazing how much better everything looks. Now if I can just figure out a way to keep the birds from pooping on everything life would be great. It drives me insane.

Another thing that's driving me insane is all the people in a tizzy over the stupid gorilla being shot. I understand the mother should've been watching her kid. The zoo needs to rethink the barriers if it was that easy for a kid to fall. BUT the fact remains it was a kid in danger. I just think the whole world has gone crazy.  People are putting the life of an animal above that of a kid.

Sunday I got up early & went for a run. The temps are up so pretty much an early run is the only way I'm going to run.

I really love my new watch. It's easy to use & fast. I never have to wait or wave my arm in the air to get a GPS signal.

After my run I went to Mass & then later in the afternoon we had friends over & we ate & hung out in the pool. We leave on vacation in 8 days with these same friends so we were figuring out the last minute details. I cannot wait to leave.

Monday my parents came over & we ate & hung out in the pool. It's a trend this time of year.

Dean cut the grass & to keep myself from taking a longer nap I went for a walk.

Yesterday was a crazy day at work which means I was highly annoyed. After work I met Allison, Vicki & Amanda at Caliente. Tuesday is kids night & they were having a cooking class. While the boys cooked we ate, talked & played with Anna Claire.

She was so good!

Yesterday was also my rest day because I hadn't taken a day off from workouts in a week. Saturday wasn't the typical workout but pressure washing & pulling weeds is a workout.

Today is Global Running Day so I made sure to get out of bed & get my run done.

I'm pretty slow these days but I'm not really worried about it. I have zero time goals for the Marathon. I just want to finish.

Tomorrow we leave for Houston for our nephew's graduation so it will be another busy weekend.
