I really try not to talk about people immediately after leaving Mass. I think it kind of defeats the purpose of going in the first place BUT today I was really annoyed. First off, I don't like to be late, therefore I rarely am. Late people are my biggest pet peeve. I understand that stuff happens & things come up. I'm talking about the habitually late people. My time is just as important as yours contrary to what you may think!! So, I'm in Mass this morning & as usual there are about a million late arrivers. This is something I just can't get past. Every week tons of people are late. It's so distracting. I think whoever comes in late should have to stand up in the back so they don't disturb anyone. There I sit during the first reading when a woman comes up to the row I'm on & wants to scoot by me to sit with her family who's already seated next to me. This causes me to lose my place in the reading which aggravates me but I get over it UNTIL the woman & her husband proceed to talk during the entire Mass. These were not young people that didn't know better or old people that couldn't hear & didn't know how loud they were being. They appeared to be in their 40's or 50's. I was seriously considering shushing them but I didn't think that would look good on my part & we all know there is very little that I care more about than what people think of me. These people weren't whispering either. I cannot begin to imagine what was so important that it couldn't wait until Mass was over. I'm just going to go ahead & say I think I'm a Mass snob. I believe there are certain ways you should behave during Mass & TALKING ISN'T IT!!!
I went back to 11:00 Mass so that I could observe the Sunday School class I'll be teaching. I wanted to see how things were done before it was my turn to teach. We have 10 kids & they're soooo cute!!! We had a lot of fun. I think it's a good sign when nobody cries when their parents drop them off but they cry when they come to pick them up!!
One week from today we'll be in VEGAS!!! I'm so excited. I hope this week goes by as fast as this weekend has.
Friday night we had dinner with our good friends that live next door. We went to La Carreta. The food & Rumrita's were delicious as usual but the service was terrible. We had to wait for a table. They told us 20-25 mins. I find usually when they tell you a time it's not that long. Well, this was longer but not a big deal because we had drinks & were talking. We finally got a table & then it took FOREVER for the waitress to take our order.
Saturday was a very lazy day. Dean's parents came over & watched the game with us. It was another not so good performance. It really looked like 2 bad football teams. I'm really curious to see what's going to happen Saturday in Athens. I spent some time in the pool & the water was fabulous!!!
No Thugs is not having a good day. It looks like our undefeated streak of 2 is done. We're currently losing by 51 points. We have a couple of players still playing but so does our opponent. Today my mom was here & Dean & I were talking about how No Thugs is doing & my mom informs me that my daddy said that he doesn't understand why we didn't pick Drew Brees since we had the opportunity. I'm going to say this one more time - IT'S TOOOOOO LATE SO STOP BRINGING IT UP! I know it was a bad move. I've taken responsibility for it & I've learned from my mistake. What more can I do? I still say that the Saints are still the Saints & it doesn't matter that they're undefeated. At some point this season they'll do something Saintly & everything will go to hell in a handbasket.
Time to figure out what I'm going to eat. Dean is having hot dogs. UGGGHHHH. I had Sonic for lunch & it was delish!!! Love, Love, Love Sonic!!!

Turtles, Frogs & Bodyguards
The last couple of days there hasn't been a thing going on except that I had a stomach virus. Not fun. I moved from the bed, to the sofa, to the other sofa for the last 2 days. I napped a lot, read a book & watched A LOT of TV. I'm caught up on Housewives of Atlanta, which I said I was done with it but I've continued to tape it so why not watch it right? I'm also caught up with Khloe & Kourtney. I don't like this show nearly as much as Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I think it's because the whole weird family element isn't going on in this show. I also watched Flipping Out. I do believe this is my favorite show. I learned on this episode that if I was lucky enough to have Jeff Lewis come to my house he would be pleased with the color of my baseboards & crown molding. He was choosing a color & went with Swiss Coffee which just so happens to be my color!! I felt a little connection to him!!
The other day when Dean & I spent a ridiculous amount of time in the yard I was under the impression that we were done with laying pine straw. Yeh, not so much. I COMPLETELY forgot about the 2 beds that we have in the corners of the backyard. We weren't going to have enough pine straw & we'd decided it would be best to do those beds one evening because they would be in the shade. Dean's off tomorrow so he'll be buying more pine straw. I was planning to have a leisurely weekend but I guess at some point I'll be in the yard working.
I'm really not sure what it is about my house & animals. Not just regular animals, but we have armadillos regularly which I hate hate hate. There was the huge frog, the crawfish in the pool, the crane & the snake. Well, now there's a garden snake running around that for whatever reason, something about it not hurting anyone, Dean didn't kill it when he had the opportunity - TWICE!! I haven't seen this thing & hopefully it stays that way. So then the other day we have this in the driveway...
I don't mind turtles at all. When I was a kid me & Scott had a bunch of these as pets & my daddy built this big cage for them that was like a little turtle oasis. It had sand & a pool. It was great. I'm glad we saw him when we did. Otherwise, he would've been squished by one of our very large trucks. Dean put him in the canal in the back.
So yesterday when I was moving from one sofa to the other I see something moving in the living room. It was a frog. Not big like the last one, just one of those little small ones that are always suctioning themselves to the glass on my doors. Now, I don't have anything against Kermit either BUT I don't really want him hopping around the house & I really don't want to touch him. What to do? I thought of trying to lead him to the door but I didn't really think that was going to work so I called Dean at work to see how I was supposed to get him out. He suggested paper towels. I guess that would've worked but it ooged me out a little because I'm pretty sure I would've felt him through the paper towel. I looked around & found a piece of junk mail that I hadn't yet thrown away & kinda scooped him onto it & put a paper towel over him so maybe it wouldn't try to hop off. He behaved & I deposited him in the landscaping in the front & he hopped away.
This morning the Coordinator of the Sunday School program at Church emailed us with our schedules & class list. I am thanking my lucky stars that I said I wanted to teach 4 yr. olds & not 5 yr. olds. During the meeting Sunday I was beginning to second guess myself because some of the ladies that have taught before were saying how the 5 yr. olds are used to being in a classroom & they're easier to deal with, etc. So I'm looking at the list for the 5 yr. olds to see if I know any of them & there was one name I recognized - JINDAL!! Yep, Bobby's kid is going to Sunday School. This shouldn't have been a complete shock because the family is at Mass regularly with their entourage of body guards. I have a friend that taught classes to prepare the kids for their 1st Communion last year & she had one of his kids in her class. The bodyguards wanted to know what her "Exit plan" was. Hmmm - the door?? I guess if you think about it Sunday School could be a prime kidnapping location being that most people would have their guard down. Anyway, I'm thrilled to death that I don't have to worry about this because I would not do well having a bunch of Secret Service types milling around watching my every move. What am I talking about? I don't even know how I'm going to do with a bunch of 4 yr. olds watching me!
I have a serious complaint with the Sheriff's Dept. At 1:40 a.m. we received a call from their hotline thingy notifying us that there was a 12 yr. old missing & was last seen at Woodlawn Baptist. That is across town from me. I'm sorry the kid was missing but seriously the middle of the night??? I hate when my sleep is disrupted but I REALLY hate when the phone rings in the middle of the night. It's usually always bad news. (Except when Lydia went into labor but we were expecting that.) Then come to find out this morning, the stupid recording is only supposed to call people that live in a 1 mi. radius of where the kid was last seen. Yeh there was a glitch. No kidding. The kid had been missing since like 7:30 so why at 1:30 they felt the need to make this call is beyond me. THEN the kid ended up being at a friends house. UUUGGGGGHHHHH! It took me forever to get back to sleep.

We Beat The Ferret
LSU won Saturday night but I swear that was a really boring game. They played ULL so I wasn't really expecting a lot to begin with but it was really bad. If they don't play better Les may need to start looking for another job.
I went to Mass Sunday & afterwards I had a meeting. I'm going to teach Sunday School. The meeting was about the curriculum & to set up the schedule. There are actually several volunteers so I'll only be teaching once every 6 weeks. Because of the shenanigans of a few bad Priest it's very hard to volunteer for any ministry in the Catholic Church that deals with children. I knew nothing about this. I signed up awhile back to volunteer & I got an email asking if I had completed "The Child Protection Process"? Ummm that would be no. Didn't know anything about it. They said they'd send me a packet in the mail. I had no idea what to expect. Basically, they want your whole life history. There's a video to watch online with a TEST. OK. Not only is there a test but you MUST make 100%. Well, by this time I'm completely freaked out & thinking maybe I'll just forget about Sunday School. I mean seriously, are they making the Priest do this??? (I'm not picking on the Priest either because I'm a firm believer that those type of shenanigans go on in other Churches too). As it turns out, it was just a cheesy video & the test wasn't hard. It can be taken as many times as needed but l'm happy to say I made 100 the first time. They also run a background check. I swear I didn't have to do as much to get my passport. Now everything is set. I'll be teaching 4 yr. olds during 11:00 Mass. Sunday I'll go observe so I can get a feel for how the class is run & my first time to teach is October 25. Should be interesting.
After the meeting we went to my parents house. My mom got her laptop & Dean hooked up her internet & I helped her set up her Facebook page. This should be interesting.
All afternoon I was checking the live scoring to see how No Thugs were doing. We were winning all afternoon & before last nights game we had almost twice as many points as The Drunken Ferret. Normally, this would've pretty much assured a win for us but the ferret had Tony Romo, Roy Williams & Jason Witten playing last night. All we had left was our kicker, Adam Vinateri who plays tonight. Kickers don't usually get you many points (unless you're Carney & you kick 6 extra points & 2 field goals - who would've thought the Saints would score so much??). I knew we had the majority of the points we were going to get so I was a little nervous. OK, a lot nervous. So much so that I actually stayed up until 10:30 watching the game. I would've probably watched the whole thing but Dean had already gone to sleep & he had the timer set on the TV & it went off with about 6 minutes left in the game. Being that I was already in bed, I didn't feel like getting up to turn the tv back on. I figured since 9:30 is normally the absolute latest I stay up on a work night I'd better go to sleep. So basically, I stayed up to watch a game that I didn't see the end of & didn't know if we won until this morning & I'm exhausted, so I should've just gone to bed at 9:00 or 9:30 like normal. The Ferret ended up with 93 points & we currently have 121.
While I'm on the subject of Fantasy Football let me say this. I do NOT want to hear from anyone else who thinks I'm crazy for not picking Drew Brees when we had the #2 pick in the draft. I take full responsibility for this. Wendy wanted to pick him but all I could think of is that he plays for the Saints & seriously we all know what happens to the Saints. They're going to lose. It's inevitable. I understand that he almost broke whatever record that was last year but to be perfectly honest I thought that was a fluke. Yes, I know that he's had 2 great games so far but you know No Thugs are 2-0 so it hasn't hurt us so far. It may come back to bite us but it may not. Our QB is Brady & he's like actually won Superbowls so I just really thought picking him over the team that can't win a playoff game might be a wiser decision. Granted he didn't play his best yesterday but it's TOO LATE NOW, so leave me alone about it!!!!

I Should've Hired A Mexican
I only worked half a day Thursday & I was off Friday. I don't have a lot of vacation time left so I'm trying to space it out so that I have some time off every month for the rest of the year. My plan for Thursday afternoon was to go shopping. I started at Penney's. Yes I know, not exactly known for their fashion but whatev, I find stuff there. I was looking for jeans & I really could use a couple pairs of shorts for Vegas. I was under the assumption (because about a million people have told me) that Oct. is a fabulous time to go to Vegas because the weather is great. Yeh, well, I'm going to be there in October so you know there's going to be some sort of weather hoorah. At the moment it's like 150 degrees there & the long range forecast is not showing any relief. We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow.
Back to the shopping trip. I found a pair of Liz Claiborne shorts that are really cute & on sale for $19.99. I found a pair of jeans there as well as a denim jacket. I could really kick myself for getting rid of the one I had in high school. Remember the trend, denim jackets with all your NKOTB buttons on it, the more the better?? So anyway, the jeans were on sale - $19.99. What a deal. I know people who wouldn't wear them because they're $19.99 & come from Penneys (I used to be one of those people). The jacket was on sale for $24.99. My only complaint is that for once I didn't have a Penney's coupon.
WOW I'm watching the Washington/USC game & Washington just kicked the field goal to go ahead 16-13 with 4 seconds left. How cool! I guess now we'll have to hear about how Washington really is good & that's why LSU had a tough time against them. OK game over, Washington won.
Back to shopping. Since I got everything I set out for & then some (the jacket) I decided to reward myself with a chocolate shake from Chick fil A. They are ABSOLUTE GREATNESS!!!! If you've never had one you're missing out. They even put whipped cream on it. A cherry too, but I don't like cherries. I believe they're the best shake in town & I would know because I've had chocolate shakes from just about everywhere. I got my large shake & headed home. I figured I didn't need to spend any more money. I went to my neighbors Pampered Chef party Thursday night & spent plenty but I bought some cool stuff!
Dean tells me Thursday night that he plans to spend Friday working in the yard. Well, that really wasn't what I had in mind when I decided to take off. I really like to work in the yard but not when it's this hot. I DO NOT like to sweat. Like, not at all. Dean went off to buy pine straw. He came home with 20 bales. We pulled weeds, trimmed bushes & put down the pine straw. I thought we put down all 20 bales but it was only 13. Lovely, that means we hadd a lot to do today. After we were finished with the front yard, we called it a day. I spend the rest of the afternoon reading, eating & napping. Friday night we went to dinner at Mike Anderson's. It was delicious as usual & we came home with leftovers.
Bright & early Saturday morning Dean was back at Lowe's getting more pine straw. Only about 20 bales fit in his truck at once. We pulled weeds, trimmed a few things & put down 27 more bales. It was HOT HOT HOT. Aside from that we put down fertilizer, weed killer & blood meal. The blood meal is a must have if you have armadillo's who want to live in your landscaping, which we do. He appears to be building a house here & we can't have that. Aside from being some of the ugliest creatures I've EVER seen, they are carriers of leprosy & they will destroy my yard. When we were about halfway through today I decided that we definitely should've hired a mexican to do this. We meed to sand & stain our front door. I was planning to do that myself. I usually feel strongly about not hiring someone to do something I'm perfectly capable of doing myself but we will be hiring a mexican to do the door. I've sweated enough for one summer.
Our neighbors have season tickets but my friend & her youngest daughter decided they didn't want to go sit in the heat to watch ULL so they were coming over for the game. Dean is BBQ'ing. Well, they got a better offer so we'll be watching by ourselves!! I don't blame them a bit. They got invited to watch the game from a suite. It's a shame it wasn't last week, she may have seen McConaughey & then I would've known about it. Speaking of, whoever the sideline reporter was last week should be fired. How do you have Matthew McConaughey on the sidelines & not interview him??? Ridiculous & inexcusable. I'm pretty confident that I've made my love for McConaughey perfectly clear & anyone that knows me KNOWS to notify me of any sightings.
Last night after we ate we went to Walmart (the Neighborhood Market, only type of Walmart we go to) to pick up a few things. I wanted to try Firefly. I love sweet tea so I figured this would be right up my alley. Walmart doesn't have it so we went to CVS. I was amongst all the college kids buying my alcohol. It was just like back in the day. I felt so young. The only thing that would've made me feel younger was if I would've been ID'd which I wasn't. Bummer. I'm having my first glass & it definitely taste like sweet tea but it also has a pretty strong kick. I mixed it with water because I do have to go to Mass in the morning. Although, I'm not going until 11:00. I don't like going to Mass that late but I'm going to be a Sunday School teacher & we have a meeting tomorrow after that Mass.
OK I'm going to watch the game.
GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Going Postal
I've learned to do so much on my iPhone! I'm so proud. I've said before & I'll say it again, I'm not tech savvy in the least! I also don't like to read directions. Not a good combination! I have a great digital camera that has all sorts of features & basically I know how to take a picture with & without the flash, operate the zoom, set the date & delete images from the memory card. I decided awhile back that I was actually going to read the manual that came with it & learn how to do some other things. The only problem is that I can't find the stupid manual anywhere! I don't generally lose things but there's something about this camera. I lost the cord to hook it to the computer & couldn't find it for weeks.
I had decided before I got the iPhone that I was going to read the manual & figure out all the great things it does. There's one problem with that, it doesn't have a manual. The guy at the AT&T store showed me how to get to the instructions on the phone but I don't remember what he did. I can go to the website & figure it out or I can just ask Aaron, (my friend at work that already has an iPhone & knows how to do everything). So far, I can get online, get on Facebook - of course that's the first thing I learned how to do (I figured it out by myself)!! I can operate the calendar & set it to give me reminders, which I TOTALLY need. I can make lists, which is something I do a lot of. I've always been a list person & this way I'm saving a few trees. I'm not a tree hugger but while I save trees, I'm also preventing a bunch of paper from ending up in my purse so it's win win. I'm bad about making a list & then not throwing it away when I'm done with it. I can even set my DVR from the phone! How cool is that?? I'm also seeing that this is making me lazier than I already am. The other night I didn't feel like getting off the sofa to go set the DVR so I used my phone because it was next to me.
I guess I bragged on myself a little too much. My mom decided that she wanted to join the 21st century & get a computer so being the good daughter I am I ordered one for her online. It was to be delivered today. She called me a few minutes ago to tell me it never came. I checked the UPS website & I put the wrong zip code. Lovely. Since I screwed it up I called UPS. I honestly thought this would be an easy fix, just give them the correct info. I must have momentarily lost my mind because really this has disaster/big hoorah written all over it. I called the 800 number & a very nice girl "helped" me. She told me that tomorrow morning they'll attempt to scan the address label again & it will say "no such address" again & then they'll mail a note telling me(my mom) to call them with the correct info. OK, am I the only one that sees a problem with this because the girl I was talking to didn't? How might I get this note if THEY DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT ADDRESS??? She said that my post office is more familiar with my name & address so they'll be able to deliver the note. Well, being that the wrong zip code is on it, it's not going to my(mom's) post office. Not to mention that my mom has the absolute worst mail service in the history of the world & this is really saying something because mine is really bad. Just yesterday she was telling me that she didn't get her phone bill last month. We will be setting up online banking but I digress. Finally, after questioning this girl she put me on hold & came back & said that she'd sent a note to the Port Allen office & they'd call my mom in the morning at 10:00. We'll see. I realize it's entirely my fault, which is why I really showed a considerable amount of patience during this phone call, but I can't be the only person that's ever done this before can I???

McConaughey & No Thugs
Week 1 of the NFL is coming to a close & I'm thrilled to say No Thugs won this week! Woo Hoo!! We beat Joey. I know he can't be happy. After all the games were over yesterday, we'd won & we hadn't even played our QB. Who is our QB you ask? The ever hot Tom Brady!! He played tonight along with Fred Jackson who we picked as a sleeper. Well, not so much, we picked him because there really wasn't anyone left & he was't a thug. Anyway, he got some points for us tonight so we're happy to have him.
Yesterday, I spent the afternoon with "the little piglet", Logan. He's getting so big that pretty soon we're going to be calling him "the big pig"!! He was so happy! He even snuggled with me & let me love on him. I think he was happy to see me go though because that meant one less person to fight over him & no more kisses. I can't help it, don't those cheeks just look like they need kissing??
I couldn't manage to get a pic of him smiling. I forgot my camera so all I had was my phone which wasn't quite fast enough!
So Matthew McConaughey was at the LSU game Sat. I LOVE him. I've been known to watch Texas football games just to see him on the sidelines. I hate those white jerseys, white pants & white shoes that Texas wears so it's not like I enjoy watching them. I've said before that if McYummy was ever at an LSU game I would die! Well, I think I was close to it Sat. night after the game when I found out about it! I couldn't believe he was 4 miles from my house & I didn't know it! AAAGGGGHHHH! I find it really strange that in this day & age when everyone has either an iPhone or Blackberry & someone's always posting something random on Facebook that NOBODY found it necessary to post that they saw him. So frustrating.
Today at lunch I bought a cute pair of boots at Shoe Station. They were on sale of course & I had a 25% off coupon. They put a coupon in the paper just about every week so there's no reason to pay full price. I'll post a pic of them later.
Tonight is a sad night. I just saw that Patrick Swayze died. So, so sad. I LOVED Dirty Dancing. I'm guessing he's not going to get the media coverage that MJ did It's a shame the good guys suffer & die & loser trash like Kanye is still walking around.
No Thug update - We're doing FABULOUS!! We've doubled the score of our opponent!!!

Misc. Ramblings
It's Saturday night & we're watching the game. It hasn't been good. The more I see the more aggravated I am but I won't go into all that again. Suffice it to say if they continue to play like this, the season isn't going to be a good one & Les may get run out of town.
I've had a wonderfully lazy day. It started at 5:30 when I woke up to a storming rain. I LOVE to listen to the rain. I didn't listen long before I fell back to sleep. I ordered Dominos online for lunch. It's cool to do that because you can follow the process. I watched some shows that were on the DVR & I read.
I've discovered something really cool, Google Reader. I can't really say "I discovered". Someone else discovered it & I read about it in her blog. Anyway, I follow a lot of blogs. I don't know what it is about reading about other peoples lives that I find interesting but I do. So, on Google Reader you can put all of the blogs you follow on it & instead of stalking the blogs like I do, they're all in one place. I think there's other stuff you can do too but being that I'm a little slow in the technology dept. I haven't figured all that out yet.
Speaking of technology, I had my first iPhone problem today which led me to a second iPhone problem. I was going to Mass & when I was leaving I dropped the phone. There was a message that said "No SIM card". I couldn't connect to the internet or do anything. I was going to try turning it off to see if that would fix it. I was thinking along the lines of rebooting. Well, that was problem #2. I don't know how to turn the phone off. I pressed all sorts of buttons & couldn't figure it out. I know it's stupid but I'm not known for my common sense. When I got home from Mass I got online to try & figure it all out. As it turns out, one of the buttons I pushed was what I should've done. I just didn't hold the button down long enough. When I turned it back on everything worked fine. Nice to know I was on the right track.
Friday nights we always go out to dinner. It took forever for us to decide where to go. We decided to go to On The Half Shell. I'm normally the person that always gets the same stuff. I have a favorite everywhere we go & I usually stick with it. I'm the person that ate nothing but chicken fingers at every restaurant in Baton Rouge for years. This was only our 2nd time to eat there & rather than going with something fried which I'm sure to like, I decided that the special sounded good. Redfish with a Rockefeller topping & fried oysters on top. I love all that stuff so that's what I got. I'm awfully glad that it came with a salad because it was really good. The special however, not so much. I ate a few bites & was done with it. I did eat the fried oysters & of course they were good. I'm lucky in that as much as we eat out this rarely happens to me. I've been with people who didn't like their meal & they told the waitress & had them bring something else. I didn't know what to do. After all, I'm the idiot that ordered it. If I didn't like it that's my problem right? On the way home we went to Cold Stone where I got my usual - cheesecake ice cream with Reeses in a waffle bowl & it didn't disappoint!
After the unfortunate incident with the BBQ grill last week we thought the grill was dead. Dean cleaned it & it still works! I was happy to hear it because I didn't want to spend any money buying a new one since that one is only a year old.
Tomorrow I'll be spending more time in front of the TV. There are lots of NFL games on. Thanks to a good night from Hines Ward Thurs. night, No Thugs had a pretty impressive start. We're leading our opponent 22-6.
Still watching the LSU game. I can't help it, it's been ugly.

I Want A Zoila
Tonight is the start of the NFL regular season. Normally, I couldn't care less but this year with No Thugs & the prospect of winning cash, I'm pretty excited. After being on the phone with Allison for awhile last night & a quick email to Commissioner Ian, I think I know how everything works. FINALLY! The sad thing is I didn't even realize that I didn't know what was going on. I'd still be sitting here clueless if it weren't for Dean asking me a million questions. Which is really ironic because Dean normally NEVER asks enough questions.
I was home sick yesterday so I spent the majority of my day laying on the sofa catching up with stuff on the DVR. I've talked about the love I have for Jeff Lewis & his show Flipping Out which in my eyes is greatness. When I started watching this show it was to see the houses that he flips. They're amazing! His housekeeper, Zoila was just an added bonus! Soooo funny! She's of some sort of foreign descent & speaks with what I think is a spanish accent. So, I want a Zoila. It was never more evident then after my Labor Day weekend of cleaning! Although, I can't get Dean to agree to someone cleaning the house twice a month so I'm guessing he's not going to agree to a live in foreigner. Oh well.
Only 23 days until we leave for Vegas! I'm super excited & hope the time flies by. We've got a tour of Hoover Dam scheduled & yesterday, Dean got us tickets to see Wayne Brady while we're there. I'm a little iffy about this. I like Wayne, I think he's really funny BUT the description of the show says "Improv with audience participation". No biggie right? Usually the people that get picked for that type of stuff are sitting really close. I wonder if 4th row center is considered really close?? To me it is & that's where our seats are. I am SOOOOO NOT an audience participater. I'm scared to death of humiliation & embarrassment of ANY type!

Labor Day
Well, I managed to stay up for the entire LSU game Sat. night. There were several times I wanted to go to sleep but didn't. I sure hope they play better Sat. All we heard about last season was how the Co-DC's wasn't a good idea & the defense wasn't playing well & it wasn't working out. People moaned & complained while we kept our fingers crossed that coaches Mallory & Peveto would still have their jobs this year. They were our friends, we loved their families & we loved having them as neighbors. Unfortunately, things didn't work out & they've both moved on. We lost great neighbors & gained Nese's that don't ever come out of the house except to cut their grass clothed from head to toe with not an inch of skin showing. Imagine my dismay when I watched that game & saw what looked like the same defense as last season. I also saw lots & lots of missed tackles. I'm of the belief that coaches shouldn't be blamed for missed tackles but whatev! Needless to say I hope they improve.
One great thing about a 9:30 pm kickoff is that the college kids don't get up before noon on Sunday so there's no line at Canes!!!
I had a to do list for the long weekend. I wanted to enjoy my weekend but I have really neglected my house this summer. Between my busy social calendar (HA!) & my addiction to books & Facebook there was a lot to be done. I managed to knock out a lot of it Sunday.
Today I was able to scratch off a few more things from the to do list. Unfortunately, there are still some things on it. I didn't get to cleaning out the closets or mopping the wood floors but I'm extremely proud of myself because I did something I rarely do - I COOKED!! I made enchilada's for lunch. There was a recipe in the Food section of The Advocate Thurs. & someone I know on FB tried it & said it was easy & good. Well, it was DELICIOUS if I do say so myself. Dean liked it too. When I say I don't cook, I mean I really don't cook except to make taco's, sloppy joe's or baked chicken. So this was a pretty big deal for me. Now I have a new recipe!! I'm excited!
We spent a couple of hours in the pool this afternoon which was nice. The water has cooled down after all the rain & it felt great! It was a nice way to end the long weekend.
I was hoping to see Logan today but it didn't happen. They spent the weekend at their camp & were late going home today so there wasn't time to stop. I plan on loving on him next weekend for sure though!
All in all it was a good weekend & now we get a short work week which is always a good thing!

Tree Trunk Salad Bowls
Friday was a good way to end the week. I had lunch at Pluckers with Aaron & Stan (my friends from work) & then we headed over to the LSU gift shop & I stocked up on some really cute stuff! I went with the intention of getting Dean a couple of shirts. While I did that, I also picked up some things for myself. We always have LSU Fri. during football season at work & I can't wear the same two LSU shirts all season. I got a really cute shirt, a bracelet, a pair of earrings & the CUTEST pair of shoes.
Adorable huh? Here's the shirt.
The extended lunch definitely made the work day go by fast. Last night Dean & I went to Mellow Mushroom for dinner. It's been a long time since we've been there & it was really good. We had spinach dip with pita's as an appetizer & Dean had a hoagie & I had pizza. Dean & I are not pizza compatible. He wants pizza with every kind of meat you can think of. I'm not a big meat person. I don't like sausage or pepperoni. I much prefer a pizza full of veggies - mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, black olives & extra cheese has my name written all over it. So that's what I had with a glass of wine.
We talk about checking out the Farmers Market all the time so today was the day. Dean, my mom & I headed out about 9:00. We wanted to go before it got too hot. Well, I don't really know what we were thinking. It was HOT! I bought a jar of jalepno pepper jelly & some homemade antipasta. We decided the Farmer's Market isn't for us. I'm not sure how to describe it but I guess we jusst weren't that into it. There was tons of veggies but they were expensive. I'll stick to shopping at the fruit stand! They had lots of jewelry but it was expensive too. I did see a really pretty salad bowl that I would've loved to have. The man that made it was actually making one out of a tree stump! Unfortunately, people that can make things from tree stumps think very highly of their talent & products - the bowl I wanted was $245. Yep, you read that right. I just don't think there will ever be a time in my life that I could spend $245 on a bowl. Even if I won the Powerball I just don't think I could do it. Needless to say we weren't there long.
Me & mom left to do a little shopping. Dean stayed home to watch football & while he was home he did ALL of the laundry! That was a wonderful surprise! I guess I shouldn't say it was a surprise, he does laundry a lot, but it was nice all the same. We went to Lowe's & I got some paint. I'm going to attempt to spray paint my light fixtures & hardware in my bathroom. Stan told me about a special paint to do it. I don't know how it will look but I don't have anything to lose. I was planning to replace it all anyway. This way maybe I can save some money. After Lowe's we went to the Grand Opening of the new Kirklands by the mall. There were a lot of sales. I bought a new lampe berger & oil. Afterwards, we stopped at Ruby Tuesday's for lunch (Sorry Vicki, I couldn't remember if you're still boycotting them - actually, I can't remember exacty what the boycott was about?? something to do with my b-day I know). Anyway, I was really craving a good salad. I don't know why because I had a good grilled chicken salad at Pluckers yesterday but I got the all you can eat salad bar & it was soooooo good. I didn't realize you could get so full on salad but as of this moment - 9:07 pm - I'm still stuffed!
I was able to take about a 45 min. nap before Mass. I was hoping that would help me to stay awake during the game but I've been yawning for an hour at least. I really don't understand that because I had 4 Dr. Peppers at lunch!

The Fire Extinguisher Works
Yep 2 posts in one day. Just consider this an extension to the previous post. There's been a lot of food happenings today. Dean was planning to grill steaks & since it was such a nice evening we were going to eat on the patio. Well, he's in the kitchen doing something to make the sauce for the asparagus & I hear him say "Ooh, I've got a fire." No biggie, I'm thinking he's talking about the flame on the grill got too high. So the next thing I know he comes back in the house & goes out with the fire extinguisher. When he comes in he tells me that it works & he thinks it kept the house from burning down. LOVELY! I had NO IDEA he meant there was an actual fire. You would've never known it based on the tone of his voice. So, instead of a nice night on the patio, the grill is done & the steaks had to be cooked on the George Foreman grill inside. Contrary to what George says, that thing is a pain to clean.
Turkey & Dr. Pepper??
I am sooo not happy. Normally, when I bring sandwiches for lunch I bring the whole container of lunch meat & put it in the fridge at work & each day make my sandwich. So imagine my surprise when I went to the fridge & my lunch meat was gone. At first I thought that it was just behind something but nope, it was nowhere to be found. Not that I was looking forward to eating another sandwich. I'm rather tired of them & had already decided that next week I'll be bringing something different. However, I don't like leaving at lunch. Traffic is bad to begin with & now there's construction. Not to mention the parking situation. I get to work at 7:30 & always have a good spot. If I leave at lunch I usually end up pretty far out. I hate that because when 4:30 gets here I'm out the door & want to be in my truck as fast as possible! I was also very, very irritated because not only was this not the first time someone stole from me, it's not the first time this week! That's right, Monday I went to get my Dr. Pepper out of the fridge & it was gone too. THAT really bugged me. I just don't understand. The fridge is right next to the vending machine that sells Cokes. Obviously, this thief is just too cheap to buy his own drink. I've gotten different responses about the situation. Some say keep the DP's at my desk. Well, that's all fine & good but I prefer to have my drink cold & then pour it over ice.Yes, I do know I'm very particular. I can't stand to drink out of a can either but that's irrevelant right now. Other people have said not to bring them from home, just buy one when I'm ready for one. Well, they're .75 in the machine & I'M too cheap to do that. Although, now that I think about it, if I pay the .75 I'm guaranteed to have one when I want rather than paying for one & it getting stolen. Anyway, I've refrained from pulling a Ross Gellar. No note on the fridge for me. Basically, because I don't think it will do a bit of good. I'll be watching for turkey sandwich eating Dr. Pepper drinkers at lunch from now on.
Today I signed up for another Fantasy Football team. This one is at work. It's just point based, no head to head match ups like the other league. I picked different people from my No Thugs team. I'm hoping to win some money & if nothing else come in last place so I get my $5 back.
It's getting close to LSU's season opener. Everyone's getting excited.

Frogs, Murderers & Sleep Experts
When I got home today Dean met me in the driveway to show me the latest creature that has made itself at home in our pool.
I don't know that I've ever seen a frog this big. We have frogs all over but they're those cute itty bitty kind. Dean set him free & I'm pretty sure he'll be back. Hopefully, he won't bring friends. If so, I can't guarantee that they won't get skinned & fried. Dean & his peeps actuallly eat these things & they continue to tell me they taste like chicken. I say if it taste like chicken why not eat chicken? Anyway, they won't waste their time on just one so he's safe if he comes alone. I'm assuming the frog is looking for water being that we live in the desert. Nobody seems to believe me when I say it never rains at my house. Here's proof.
This is a picture of the ditch behind our house. Notice the small craters in the ground. If it doesn't rain soon who knows what I'll come home to.
Last night I was laying in bed reading the fabulous book "Bitter is the New Black". Love Love Love this book. I know I say that a lot but if you like smart aleck sarcasm, this book is for you. Anyway, I'm reading & Dean is watching Sean Hannity. This has become Dean's habit in the last several weeks. (Around the time I started grinding my teeth, although Dean swears one has nothing to do with the other, I'm not so sure). This girl was on the Great American Panel.
Her name is Aubrey O'Day. I thought she was a stripper or playmate but they said she was a singer. I had never heard of her but I googled her & see that she's a member of Danity Kane. She made the insane comment about what a genius Fidel Castro is & when Hannity comes back with "You know he's a murderer?", her response was "I'm sure I've met MANY murderers in my life". REALLY? What does that say about her? What kind of people is she hanging out with? It really disturbed me.
It's game week in B.R. which means you can get your fill of LSU football on the news, internet & newspaper. The season opener is Sat. in Seattle. Kickoff is at 9:30 pm central. I'm trying to figure out how exactly I'm going to stay awake until the end. When I was reading the paper today there was an article about the players & the lack of sleep they'll get with the late kickoff. Les Miles is quoted as saying that they've consulted "sleep experts" & decided they need to spend an extra night in Seattle. I consider myself a sleep expert. The only person I know that likes to sleep more than me is my 3 mo. old nephew. Seriously, one year for Christmas Dean gave me 2 prs. of pj's & a robe, his grandma gave me a robe & BFF Vicki gave me pajamas. That being said, I couldn't care less how many nights the football team stays in Seattle BUT unless things have changed A LOT in the last 10-12 yrs. those guys are not worried about how much sleep they get. Back in the day it was a given that the football team would show up at Sports and/or The Stadium Club after ALL of their games. Away games? Why sure - plane lands in BR, bus takes them to the stadium, they get in their cars & the next stop was Tigerland & FREE DRINKS!! I'm just saying....
